Adaptive Synchronization of the Complex Dynamical Network with Double Non-delayed and Double Delayed Coupling

        Yuhua Xu,Wuneng Zhou,Jian-an Fang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2012 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.10 No.2

To simulate more realistic networks, we introduce a complex dynamical network model with double non-delayed and double delayed coupling and further investigate its synchronization phenomenon in this paper. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, adaptive synchronization criteria is obtained. Analytical result shows that under the designed adaptive controllers, the complex dynamical network with double non-delayed and double delayed coupling can asymptotically synchronize to a given trajectory. What is more, the coupling matrix is not assumed to be symmetric or irreducible. Finally, simulation results show the method is effective.

Exploiting Multichannel Diversity in Spectrum Sharing Systems Using Optimal Stopping Rule

        Yuhua Xu,Qihui Wu,Jinlong Wang,Alagan Anpalagan,Yitao Xu 한국전자통신연구원 2012 ETRI Journal Vol.34 No.2

This letter studies the problem of exploiting multichannel diversity in a spectrum sharing system, where the secondary user (SU) sequentially explores channel state information on the licensed channels with time consumption. To maximize the expected achievable throughput for the SU, we formulate this problem as an optimal stopping problem, whose objective is to choose the right channel to stop exploration based on the observed signal-to-noise ratio sequence. Moreover, we propose a myopic but optimal rule, called one-stage look-ahead rule, to solve the stopping problem.

Relay Assignment in Cooperative Communication Networks: Distributed Approaches Based on Matching Theory

( Yitao Xu ),( Dianxiong Liu ),( Cheng Ding ),( Yuhua Xu ),( Zongsheng Zhang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.10 No.11

In this article, we model the distributed relay assignment network as a many-to-one matching market with peer effects. We discuss two scenarios for throughput optimization of relay networks: the scenario of aggregate throughput optimization and the scenario of fairness performance optimization. For the first scenario, we propose a Mutual Benefit-based Deferred Acceptance (MBDA) algorithm to increase the aggregate network throughput. For the second scenario, instead of using the alternative matching scheme, a non-substitution matching algorithm (NSA) is designed to solve the fairness problem. The NSA improves the fairness performance. We prove that both two algorithms converge to a globally stable matching, and discuss the practical implementation. Simulation results show that the performance of MBDA algorithm outperforms existing schemes and is almost the same with the optimal solution in terms of aggregate throughput. Meanwhile, the proposed NSA improves fairness as the scale of the relay network expands.

        Interleukin-10-Producing B Cells Help Suppress Ovariectomy-Mediated Osteoporosis

        Yuhua Wang,Wei Zhang,임성민,Li Xu,진준오 대한면역학회 2020 Immune Network Vol.20 No.6

Osteoporosis is prevalent in elderly women and it may cause dental implant failure. In particular, estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women leads to higher rates of osteoporosis prevalence. Immune cell-mediated effects involving the development of osteoporosis have been studied previously; however, the role of IL-10-producing regulatory B (B10) cells in osteoporosis is largely unclear. Here, we examined the role of B10 cells in osteoporosis. C57BL/6 mice were subjected to ovariectomy (OVX). Fifteen weeks after OVX surgery, the first molar of the right maxillary was extracted, and twenty-four weeks after OVX surgery, serous progression of osteoporosis was observed in the alveolar bone. Moreover, the proportion of CD19+CD5+CD1dhigh regulatory B cells, B10, and CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T cells from the spleen of OVX mice decreased during the progression of osteoporosis, compared to controls. In contrast to regulatory cells, IL-17-producing Th (Th17) cell levels were increased in OVX mice. Adoptive transfer of B10 cells to OVX mice led to a decrease in Th17 cell abundance and inhibited the development of osteoporosis in the alveolar bone from OVX mice. Thus, our results suggest that B10 cells may help suppress osteoporosis development.

On-demand Allocation of Multiple Mutual-compensating Resources in Wireless Downlinks: a Multi-server Case

( Han Han ),( Yuhua Xu ),( Qinfei Huang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2015 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.9 No.3

In this paper, we investigate the multi-resource allocation problem, a unique feature of which is that the multiple resources can compensate each other while achieving the desired system performance. In particular, power and time allocations are jointly optimized with the target of energy efficiency under the resource-limited constraints. Different from previous studies on the power-time tradeoff, we consider a multi-server case where the concurrent serving users are quantitatively restricted. Therefore user selection is investigated accompanying the resource allocation, making the power-time tradeoff occur not only between the users in the same server but also in different servers. The complex multivariate optimization problem can be modeled as a variant of 2-Dimension Bin Packing Problem (V2D-BPP), which is a joint non-linear and integer programming problem. Though we use state decomposition model to transform it into a convex optimization problem, the variables are still coupled. Therefore, we propose an Iterative Dual Optimization (IDO) algorithm to obtain its optimal solution. Simulations show that the joint multi-resource allocation algorithm outperforms two existing non-joint algorithms from the perspective of energy efficiency.

Opportunistic Spectrum Access with Dynamic Users: Directional Graphical Game and Stochastic Learning

( Yuli Zhang ),( Yuhua Xu ),( Qihui Wu ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2017 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.11 No.12

This paper investigates the channel selection problem with dynamic users and the asymmetric interference relation in distributed opportunistic spectrum access systems. Since users transmitting data are based on their traffic demands, they dynamically compete for the channel occupation. Moreover, the heterogeneous interference range leads to asymmetric interference relation. The dynamic users and asymmetric interference relation bring about new challenges such as dynamic random systems and poor fairness. In this article, we will focus on maximizing the tradeoff between the achievable utility and access cost of each user, formulate the channel selection problem as a directional graphical game and prove it as an exact potential game presenting at least one pure Nash equilibrium point. We show that the best NE point maximizes both the personal and system utility, and employ the stochastic learning approach algorithm for achieving the best NE point. Simulation results show that the algorithm converges, presents near-optimal performance and good fairness, and the directional graphical model improves the systems throughput performance in different asymmetric level systems.

Two-Dimensional POMDP-Based Opportunistic Spectrum Access in Time-Varying Environment with Fading Channels

        Yumeng Wang,Yuhua Xu,Liang Shen,Chenglong Xu,Yunpeng Cheng 한국통신학회 2014 Journal of communications and networks Vol.16 No.2

In this research, we study the problem of opportunisticspectrum access (OSA) in a time-varying environment with fadingchannels, where the channel state is characterized by bothchannel quality and the occupancy of primary users (PUs). First,a finite-state Markov channel model is introduced to represent afading channel. Second, by probing channel quality and exploringthe activities of PUs jointly, a two-dimensional partially observableMarkov decision process framework is proposed for OSA. In addition,a greedy strategy is designed, where a secondary user selects achannel that has the best-expected data transmission rate to maximizethe instantaneous reward in the current slot. Compared withthe optimal strategy that considers future reward, the greedy strategybrings low complexity and relatively ideal performance. Meanwhile, the spectrum sensing error that causes the collision betweena PU and a secondary user (SU) is also discussed. Furthermore,we analyze the multiuser situation in which the proposed singleuserstrategy is adopted by every SU compared with the previousone. By observing the simulation results, the proposed strategy attainsa larger throughput than the previous works under variousparameter configurations.

Hypergraph Game Theoretic Solutions for Load Aware Dynamic Access of Ultra-dense Small Cell Networks

( Xucheng Zhu ),( Yuhua Xu ),( Xin Liu ),( Yuli Zhang ),( Youming Sun ),( Zhiyong Du ),( Dianxiong Liu ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2019 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.13 No.2

A multi-channel access problem based on hypergraph model in ultra-dense small cell networks is studied in this paper. Due to the hyper-dense deployment of samll cells and the low-powered equipment, cumulative interference becomes an important problem besides the direct interference. The traditional binary interference model cannot capture the complicated interference relationship. In order to overcome this shortcoming, we use the hypergraph model to describe the cumulative interference relation among small cells. We formulate the multi-channel access problem based on hypergraph as two local altruistic games. The first game aims at minimizing the protocol MAC layer interference, which requires less information exchange and can converge faster. The second game aims at minimizing the physical layer interference. It needs more information interaction and converges slower, obtaining better performance. The two modeled games are both proved to be exact potential games, which admit at least one pure Nash Equilibrium (NE). To provide information exchange and reduce convergecne time, a cloud-based centralized-distributed algorithm is designed. Simulation results show that the proposed hypergraph models are both superior to the existing binary models and show the pros and cons of the two methods in different aspects.

Determining Osteogenic Differentiation Efficacy of Pluripotent Stem Cells by Telomerase Activity

        Siqi Zhang,Yuhua Sun,Yi Sui,Yan Li,Zuyuan Luo,Xiao Xu,Ping Zhou,Shicheng Wei 한국조직공학과 재생의학회 2018 조직공학과 재생의학 Vol.15 No.6

BACKGROUND: Bone tissue engineering based on pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) is a new approach to deal with bone defects. Protocols have been developed to generate osteoblasts from PSCs. However, the low efficiency of this process is still an important issue that needs to be resolved. Many studies have aimed to improve efficiency, but developing accurate methods to determine efficacy is also critical. Studies using pluripotency to estimate efficacy are rare. Telomerase is highly associated with pluripotency. METHODS: We have described a quantitative method to measure telomerase activity, telomeric repeat elongation assay based on quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). To investigate whether this method could be used to determine the efficiency of in vitro osteogenic differentiation based on pluripotency, we measured the pluripotency pattern of cultures through stemness gene expression, proliferation ability and telomerase activity, measured by QCM. RESULTS: We showed that the pluripotency pattern determined by QCM was similar to the patterns of proliferation ability and gene expression, which showed a slight upregulation at the late stages, within the context of the general downregulation tendency during differentiation. Additionally, a comprehensive gene expression pattern covering nearly every stage of differentiation was identified. CONCLUSION: Therefore, this assay may be powerful tools for determining the efficiency of differentiation systems based on pluripotency. In this study, we not only introduce a new method for determining efficiency based on pluripotency, but also provide more information about the characteristics of osteogenic differentiation which help facilitate future development of more efficient protocols.
