        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of equality perception and organizational commitment on turnover intention of jobs among psychiatric hospital nurses. Method: Data were collected by questionnaire survey among 158 nurses working in 10 psychiatric hospitals from August 1st to September 30th. 2004. Results: The degree of turnover intention of jobs was significantly different by marital status, religion, qualification of psychiatric specialized nursing, monthly income and the location of hospitals. The correlation analysis showed that the turnover intention of jobs decreased as the equality perception and the organizational commitment increased. The hierachical multiple regression analysis showed that significantly related variables with turnover intention of jobs were religion, monthly income, equality perception and organizational commitment. The model explanation power was 53.1%. Conclusion: Because the equality perception explained 53.1% of variance of turnover intention among psychiatric nurses and organizational commitment was related with the turnover intention of nurses at psychiatric hospitals, activation strategy of organization must include the promotion strategy of equality perception and organizational commitment to decrease turnover intention of jobs among nurses.

      • 갑상선 세포에서 전사보조활성인자인 CBP와 CIITA의 인터페론-감마 활성 부위에 대한 조절 : CBP and CIITA on GAS(Interferon- γ Activated Site)-Mediated Transcription in Thyroid Cells

        Background : In the previous stuides, we identified that the interferon-r activated sequence (GAS) in the 5-flanking region of rat ICAM-1 gene is major element for interferon-r-inducible expression of the gene in rat thyroid cells, FRTL-5. We here, investigated the role of transcriptional coactivators, CBP(CREB binding protein) and CⅡTA (class Ⅱ transactivator) in the modulation of the activity of GAS which could interacts with signal transducers and activators of transcription-1 and 3 (STAT1 and STAT3). Methods : The expression of CBP RNA and protein were quantitated in FRTL-5 after stimulation with interferon-r (IFN-r), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), forskolin and methimazole. Direct association of CBP with STAT were analyzed by immunoprecipitation. The transcriptional roles of CBP and CⅡTA in the regulation of GAS were assessed by the cotransfection with their expression vectors with reporters; 5-deletion constructs of rat ICAM-1 promoter or 8xGAS-luc constructs, into FRTL-5 thyroid cells. Results : The level of CBP RNA and protein were not changed by the treatment with TSH, IFN-r, forskolin and methimazole in FRTL-5, FRT and BRL liver cells. The CBP could be directly associated with STAT1. Furthermore, the overexpression of CBP significantly increases the both promoter activities; rat ICAM-1 gene promoter which has GAS element and 8xGAS-luc cassette constructs. However, the cotransfection of CⅡTA decreased the constitutive and CBP-mediated transactivation of rat ICAM-1 promoter and 8xGAS-luc cassette constructs. Conclusion : We identified that the two tanscriptional coactivators; CBP and CⅡTA has differential roles in the regulation of transcriptional activity of GAS drived promoter. CBP increases the GAS activity through the direct binding with STAT1, but CⅡTA inhibited the CBP-mediated transactivation of GAS activity.

        In this study, we aim at presenting a Financial Asset Withdrawal Strategy that can be applied to Korean retirees’household economy. Financial Asset Withdrawal Strategy means a strategy to manage the assets accumulated before retirement in an asset portfolio, aiming at preventing the old age fund from being exhausted before the end of the retirement period, even if a certain amount is withdrawn during that period. That is, this strategy is to find out the rate of withdrawal(the rate of the amount withdrawn in the first year of retirement to the amount of the old age fund in the first year of retirement) that will not exhaust the old age fund before the end of the retirement period, even if the withdrawal from each of the portfolio compositions is continued for a certain period. The ratio of withdrawal in this case is called Sustainable Initial Withdrawal Rate(SIWR) and the largest value is called the Maximum Sustainable Initial Withdrawal Rate(MaxSIWR). In 0 percent probability of failing, MaxSIWR30 is 4.2% with a 0/100 bond/stock allocation. In 1%, 10%, 20%, MaxSIWR30 is 4.4%, 4.9%, 5.9% with 10/90, 20-40/80-60, 50-60/50-40 bond/stock allocation, respectively. If retirees plan longer retirement periods in order to consider longevity risks, they should enhance the weight of investments in stocks and should use a smaller MaxSIWR.

      • 소형 기기용 효율적인 바이트 코드 검증기술에 관한 연구

        USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module) 기술은 데이터의 관리와 보호를 하나의 소형 칩 내에 집약시킨 기술로 최근에 이 기술에 대한 관심도가 증가하고 있다. 자바카드 가상기계는 자바 언어로 작성된 프로그램이 USIM 칩 내부에서 실행 가능하도록 해준다. 하지만 자바카드 가상 기계는 자원 제약적인 디바이스의 특성으로 인하여 검증기술을 제공하지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 정적 체크 기반의 효율적인 바이트코드 검증기를 제안한다. 연구 결과 본 논문에서 제안하는 검증기는 일반적인 것에 비해 90% 이상의 사이즈가 감소되었다. As Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) technology can handle, manager and protect data within a small sized chip, peopled are more interested in USIM technology lately. Java Card Virtual Machine (JCVM) enables programs written by Java programming language to be run in smart cards with USIM chips. However JCVM does not have a verifier as limits of hardware. In this paper, we propose a ByteCode verifier with novel algorithm based on Static Check policy. We experiment that the size of our verifier is reduced by 90% over generals.

      • Rat의 복강내에 투여한 5-fluorouracil-polyglycolic acid 제형이 장기에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        For more effective intraperitoneal chemotherapy, the authers made 5-fluorouracil-polyglycolic acid composite disks(FU-PGA disks) with 5-fluorouracil and polyglycolic acid, a biodegradable polymer. We inserted the FU-PGA disk into the peritoneal cavites of Sprague-Dawley male rats, the control and three experimental groups; one FU-PGA disk insert group(300mg/kg), two FU-PGA disk insert group(600mg/kg), and three FU-PGA disk insert group(900mg/kg). The control group received a similar number of PGA disk inserts. A pharmacokinetic study was performed to measure the 5-fluorouracil concentration in the peritoneal fluid, blood, and tissues(liver, kidney and heart) at 24 hours, 72hours and 168 hours after insertion of the FU-PGA disk. Light and electron microscopic studies were done. The results were as follows: 1) The number of white blood cells and platelets decreased after FU-PGA insertion. The degree was proportional to the duration and amounts inserted. The change in the number of red blood cells varied slightly. 2) Light microscopically, slight changes were noted at 168 hours in the 3 disk insert group (900mg/kg). Mild fatty change and hepatocyte degeneration around the central veins of the liver were noted, with vacuolar degeneration in the proximal convoluted tubules of the kidney. 3) Electron microscopically,the liver showed focal increases of lipid droplets in the hepatocytes, and irregular nuclear membrane with focal nucleolar segregation of the fibrillar and granular elements. Also the double membranous structure of the hepatocytes and Kupffer cells was widened with bleb formation. The kidney showed wide separation of the nuclear double membrane in the proximal convoluted tubular cells and mesangial cells, with vacuolation and myelin figure formation in the mitochondria of the proximal convoluted tubular cells, at 72 hours and 168 hours in the 2 to 3 FU-PGA insert groups. The heart showed focal loss of cristae,vacuolation and myelin figure formation in the mitochondria of the 2 to 3 FU-PGA insert groups. In conclusion, despite the large amont of FU-PGA inserted, the histopathological changes in the liver, kidney and heart were slight, and consonant with the very low amount of 5-fluorouracil concentrations detected in the liver, kidney and heart. The above results suggest that the FU-PGA composite can serve as a new device for releasing drugs in a controlled manner and easily targeted to intraperitoneal organs. This device can improve the efficacy of intraperitoneal chemotherapy for gastric cancer.

        To evaluate the in-vivo effects of mitomycin-C-polyglycolic acid composite(MMC-PGA) the disk: shaped composite were implanted into the peritoneal cavity of the Sprague-Dawley rats. The pathologic changes were examined at various time points up to 12 weeks. Initially the soft tissue around the inserted disks showed capillary congestion at 3 days. Inflammatory infiltrates with foreign body giant cells appeared from the 2nd week and reached peak response at 6-8 weeks. These reaction diminished prominently at 12 weeks. No specific pathologic change was found in the liver, the kidneys, and the heart. The above results suggest that the MMC-PGA composite can serve as a new device for intraperitoneal chemotherapy of various types of cancers.

      • Dry etching of polydimethylsiloxane using microwave plasma

        <P>This paper presents a new polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) dry-etching method that uses microwave plasma. The applicability of the method for fabricating microstructures and removing residual PDMS is also verified. The etch rate of PDMS was dominantly influenced by the gas flux ratio of CF<SUB>4</SUB>/O<SUB>2</SUB> and the microwave power. While the PDMS etch rate increased as the flux ratio of CF<SUB>4</SUB> was increased, the etch rate decreased as the flux ratio of O<SUB>2</SUB> was increased. The maximum etch rate of 4.31 µm min<SUP>−1</SUP> was achieved when mixing oxygen (O<SUB>2</SUB>) and tetrafluoromethane (CF<SUB>4</SUB>) at a 1:2 ratio at 800 W power. The PDMS etch rate almost linearly increased with the microwave power. The ratio of the vertical etch rate to the lateral etch rate was in a range of 1.14–1.64 and varied with the gas fluxes. In consideration of potential applications of the proposed PDMS etching method, array-type PDMS microwells and network-type microprotrusion structures were fabricated. The contact angle was dramatically increased from 104° (non-etched PDMS surface) to 148° (etched PDMS surface) and the surface was thereby modified to be superhydrophobic. In addition, a thin PDMS skin that blocked holes and PDMS residues affixed in nickel microstructures was successively removed.</P>

        Degradation of Bisphenol A by White Rot Fungi, <i>Stereum hirsutum</i> and <i>Heterobasidium insulare</i>, and Reduction of Its Estrogenic Activity

        <P>Two lignin-degrading basidiomycetes, <I>Stereum hirsutum</I> and <I>Heterobasidium insulare</I>, were used to degrade bisphenol A (BPA) in culture, and the estrogenic activity of the degradation products was examined using MCF-7 cell proliferation assays (E-screen) and analysis of pS2 mRNA expression in MCF 7 cells. Both <I>S. hirsutum</I> and <I>H. insulare</I> showed high resistance to BPA 100 ppm, and their mycelial growth was fully completed within 8 d of incubation at 30 °C. It took 7 to 14 d to achieve complete degradation (<I>ca.</I> 99%) of BPA by both fungi. MCF-7 cells proliferated actively at a BPA concentration of 10<SUP>−5</SUP> <SMALL>M</SMALL>. However, cell line proliferation was significantly inhibited when the cells were incubated in BPA culture media containing <I>S. hirsutum</I> and <I>H. insulare</I>. Similar results were obtained regarding pS2 mRNA expression. The pS2 mRNA expression levels decreased by 1.5-fold in supernatant from BPA treated with <I>S. hirsutum</I> and <I>H. insulare</I> compared with those treated with BPA alone.</P>

        Effects of the Transition from Premenopause to Postmenopause on Lipids and Lipoproteins: Quantification and Related Parameters

        Background/Aims: The aim of this study was to quantitatively measure changes in lipids and lipoproteins during perimenopause and to identify variables related to these changes. Methods: Among women who had three regular health evaluations over a span of 2-4 years, 34 women remained in the premenopausal state, 34 premenopausal women transitioned to the postmenopausal state, and 36 postmenopausal women were enrolled. The menopausal state was determined not only by a history of amenorrhea but also by levels of female sex hormones. Yearly changes in lipids were calculated using a linear regression of the three measurements. Results: The transition from premenopause to postmenopause was associated with increased total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels by 7.4 ± 8.0 mg/dL (4.2 ± 4.9%) and 6.9 ± 6.5 mg/dL (6.8 ± 7.0 %) over one year, resulting in an elevation of 19.6 ± 22.6 mg/dL (10.9 ± 13.0%) and 18.9 ± 19.5 mg/dL (18.6 ± 20.3%), respectively, during perimenopause. There were no changes observed in premenopausal and postmenopausal women. Body weight, blood pressure, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, and triglycerides did not change in any of the three groups. In all women, changes in both total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol were associated with changes in follicle stimulating hormone (r = 0.40, p < 0.001 and r = 0.38, p < 0.001, respectively). Changes in triglycerides were associated with changes in body weight (r = 0.28, p = 0.005). Conclusions: During perimenopause, total and LDL cholesterol levels increase and these changes in cholesterol are mainly dependent on changes in female sex hormones.
