Law and Early Warning of Vertical Sluice Cluster Displacements in Soft Coastal Soil
Xing Yang,Cong Yuan,Miao Hou,Chengyang Zhou,Yan Ju,Fei Qi 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.2
The vertical displacement, which is the product of natural sources and human activities, is the key factor affecting the sluice safety. This study provides a systematic approach used for analyzing the law and early warning of sluice cluster vertical displacements in coastal soft soil locations. Two important methods, including probability analysis and principal component analysis (PCA), are used to obtain the necessary information in this study. Among them, PCA is mainly used to identify the risk indices during vertical deformations of sluice cluster. As case studies, 27 sluices in a cluster in Northern Jiangsu Province's coastal area in China are chosen and 14 variables related to sluice uplift, settlement and differential settlement deformations are used. The PCA and additional evidence from the sluice deformation law are used to identify three variables as risk indices, including maximum differential settlement (MMDS), maximum cumulative vertical settlement (MCVS) and maximum cumulative vertical uplift (MCVU). This study divides the risk levels into five grades (i.e., Level 1 to Level 5) based on the selected risk indices and determines their risk thresholds based on the in-situ deformation data from 2010 to 2020. In general, the results demonstrate that the newly proposed approach exhibits an acceptable performance. However, the influence of epistemic and aleatory uncertainties on this study is worthy of further discussion in the future.

In the process of coal seam water injection, the components of different fracturing fluids have differenteffects on coal. To analyze the effect of water injection fracturing fluid on the physical and chemical propertiesof coal, we studied the relationship between guar-based fracturing fluid and cationic clean fracturingfluid (C-VES). Microscopic experiments show that guar-based fracturing fluid has a certain viscosityeffect on coal, while C-VES can adsorb and capture the primary coal dust in coal. FTIR analysis shows thatC-VES has a great change on the content of coal functional groups, and guar-based fracturing fluid haslittle effect on coal. Industrial analysis shows that C-VES can better reduce the ash content of coal andhas a certain impact on the thermal efficiency of coal than guar based fracturing fluid. Combustion characteristicexperiment shows that guar-based fracturing fluid does not affect the combustion effect of coal, and C-VES can expand the exothermic temperature range of coal but has little effect on the main combustionof coal. Molecular dynamics simulation results show that C-VES has the best wetting effect oncoal. This research provides theoretical guidance for dust prevention and improving the use and conversionefficiency of coal.
Behavior of circular concrete-filled steel tubular columns under pure torsion
Fa-Xing Ding,QIANG FU,Bing Wen,Qi-shi Zhou,Xue-mei Liu 국제구조공학회 2018 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.26 No.4
Concrete-filled steel tubular (CFT) columns are commonly used in engineering structures and always subjected to torsion in practice. This paper is thus devoted to investigate the mechanical behavior of circular CFT columns under pure torsion.3D finite element models based on reasonable material constitutive relation were established for analyzing the load-strain (<i>T-–γ</i>) curves of circular CFT columns under pure torsion. The numerical simulation indicated that local bulking of the steel tube in CFT columns was prevented and the shear strength and ductility of the core concrete were significantly improved due to the confinement effect between the steel tube and the core concrete. Based on the results, formulas to predict the torsional ultimate bearing capacity of circular CFT columns were proposed with satisfactory correspondence with experimental results. Besides, formulas of composite shear stiffness and the overall process of the <i>T-–γ</i> relation of circular CFT columns under pure torsion were proposed.

Surface engineering of Ag/Bi2MoO6 nanosheets/TiO2 nanobelts ternary heterostructures with dualoxygen vacancy defects are successfully synthesized though a hydrothermal-photodeposition methodcombined with high-temperature surface hydrogenation. Bi2MoO6 nanosheets are grown on surface ofTiO2 nanobelts to form heterojunctions, and Ag nanoparticles are decorated on their surfaces for surfaceplasmon resonance (SPR). After surface hydrogenation, oxygen vacancy not only appear on TiO2, but alsoon Bi2MoO6 to achieve dual oxygen vacancy defects for thefirst time. Under visible light irradiation, HAg-BMO/TiO2 shows excellent photodegradation of 93.7% for metribuzin, high photocatalytic H2evolution rate of 143.5 mmol h 1 g 1, and outstanding photoelectrochemical performance.

Background: Hypoxia-inducible factor $1{\alpha}$ (HIF-$1{\alpha}$) plays an important role in regulating cell survival and angiogenesis, which are critical for tumor growth and metastasis. Genetic variations of HIF1A have been shown to influence the susceptibility to many kinds of human tumors. Increased expression of HIF-$1{\alpha}$ has also been demonstrated to be involved in tumor progression. However, the prognostic value of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) inthe HIF1A gene remains to be determined in most cancer types, including colorectal cancer (CRC). In this study, we sought to investigate the predictive role of HIF1A SNPs in prognosis of CRC patients and efficacy of chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: We genotyped two functional SNPs in HIF1A gene using the Sequenom iPLEX genotyping system and then assessed their associations with clinicopathological parameters and clinical outcomes of 697 CRC patients receiving radical surgery using Cox logistic regression model and Kaplan Meier curves. Results: Generally, no significant association was found between these 2 SNPs and clinical outcomes of CRC. In stratified analysis of subgroup without adjuvant chemotherapy, patients carrying CT/TT genotypes of rs2057482 exhibited a borderline significant association with better overall survival when compared with those carrying CC genotype [Hazard ratio (HR), 0.47; 95% confidence interval (95% CI): 0.29-0.76; P < 0.01]. Moreover, significant protective effects on CRC outcomes conferred by adjuvant chemotherapy were exclusively observed in patients carrying CC genotype of rs2057482 and in those carrying AC/CC genotype of rs2301113. Conclusions: Genetic variations in HIF1A gene may modulate the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery in CRC patients.

Objective: This study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of metformin on liver fat content (LFC) in first episode schizophrenia patients with olanzapine-induced weight gain, and the relationship between the change of LFC and the other metabolic indices. Methods: In a double-blind study, the clinically stable inpatients with first-episode schizophrenia under olanzapine monotherapy who gained more than 7% of their baseline weight were randomly assigned to two groups; one with olanzapine plus metformin (1,000 mg/day) (metformin group) and the other with olanzapine plus placebo (placebo group) for 16 weeks. All patients continued to maintain the original olanzapine dosage. LFC was measured by magnetic resonance imaging at baseline and at the end of 16 weeks, respectively. At the same time, glucose and lipid metabolism, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) were measured respectively, analyzing the correlation between the change value of LFC and other indicators. Results: Over the 16-week study period, LFC value in metformin group decreased compared with baseline. LFC change across the 16-week treatment period was −2.91% for the metformin group and 0.59% for the placebo group, with a between-group difference of −3.5% (95% confidence interval, −6.08 to −0.93; p = 0.009). Compared to baseline, in the metformin group, triglyceride and HOMA-IR reduced significantly, while high density lipoprotein cholesterol increased significantly at weeks 16. There was positive correlation between LFC changes and triglycerides, HOMA-IR changes significantly. Conclusion: Metformin can significantly attenuate LFC in schizophrenia patients with olanzapine-induced weight gain. It may be related to the improvement of the part of the glucolipid metabolic indices
