Background/Aims: A number of studies have reported wide variability in the colonoscope insertion time among patients who had prior abdominal surgery. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of abdominal surgery on colonoscope insertion time. Methods: The subjects were 192 patients with prior abdominal surgery, among 3,600 patients who underwent a colonoscopy at Samsung Changwon Hospital from May 2008 to May 2010. We collected the following data: insertion time, age, gender, height, weight, BMI, waist circumference, method of abdominal surgery, and the degree of bowel cleanliness. Previous abdominal operations were divided into colectomy, non-colectomy abdominal surgery, pelvic surgery, and laparoscopic surgery groups. Results: The average colonoscope insertion time in patients with prior abdominal surgery (7.73±5.95 min) was longer than that of the non-surgery group (6.4±3.88 min). Patients in the colectomy groups were older and had a shorter insertion time (5.11±3.32 min) than patients in the other groups. Conclusions: Insertion of a colonoscope in patients with previous abdominal surgery was more difficult than that in the control group, except the colectomy group.1 목적: 이전에 수술을 받은 환자에서의 대장내시경 삽입시간은 다양하게 보고되고 있다. 이 연구는 복부수술이 대장내시경의 삽입에 영향을 주는지 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 2008년 5월부터 2010년 5월까지 삼성창원병원에서 대장내시경을 받은 3,600명의 환자 중 이전에 복부수술을 받은 192명을 대상으로 하였다. 환자의 나이, 성별, 키, 몸무게, 체질량지수, 허리둘레, 대장내시경 삽입시간, 삽입지연율, 장 정결도, 이전의 복부수술 방법을 조사하였다. 이전의 복부수술은 대장절제군, 대장절제 이외의 복부수술군, 골반수술군, 복강경수술군으로 나누었다. 결과: 수술군의 평균 삽입시간은 7.73±5.95분으로 비수술군(6.4±3.88분)과 비교해서 길게 측정되었다. 대장절제군의 나이가 많고 삽입시간이 짧으며(5.11±3.32분) 삽입지연율이 낮았다(6%). 대장절제 이외의 복부수술군, 골반수술군, 복강경수술군의 비교에서는 통계적으로 차이는 없었다. 결론: 과거의 복부수술은 대장내시경의 삽입을 어렵게 한다. 대장절제군의 삽입시간이 짧고 삽입지연율이 낮았으나 다른 수술들의 차이는 없었다.

The usage of the Greek present participle is categorized into the following three: attributive, supplementary and circumstantial/adverbial. How to understand and translate the Greek present participle, especially employed in the circumstantial/adverbial usage, imposes a great burden on the translator. This study aims to examine the translation of the Greek present participle used in the circumstantial/adverbial usage and supplementary usage and suggest some principles for the translation. To that end, the study investigates the translation of the present parti- ciple in the Gospel of Luke of New Korean Revised Version, which is officially used by the vast majority of Korean churches. It will be clarified that the tense of the Greek participle does not primarily indicate the relative time to the main verb but aspect. The aspect of the present tense should be appropriately grasped and reflected in the translation. While it is accepted that a translator can hardly express the aspect of Greek tense in Korean precisely due to the difference between Greek and Korean, he/she is obligated to deliver the meaning or nuance of the aspect as possible as he/she can. The principles for conveying the aspect of the Greek present participle into Korean need to be suggested.

플라즈마 도움 원자층 제어 증착법을 이용한 Al2O3 의 성장과 박막 특성의 연구

Aluminum oxide thin films were deposited by plasma-assisted atomic layer controlled deposition method in the temperature range of 100-125℃ using DMEAA (Dimethylethylamine alane [(CH₃)₂(C₂H_5)N:AlH₃]) as a source gas. Al was deposited by plasma-assisted ALD(Atomic Layer Deposition) method. And then, the Al films were oxidized into Al₂O₃ by the plasma oxidation in the same chamber without breaking the vacuum. For physical and electrical measurements, Al₂O₃ thin films of 15 ㎚ thickness were prepared by repetition of the above mentioned process. Thus prepared Al₂O₃ thin films showed a refractive index of 1.68. The thickness and the refractive index fluctuation of the film over a 4 in. wafer were ±2.3% and ±1.9%, respectively, for atomic layer controlled film, while those were ±7.8%, ±6.4% for all the sputter-deposited film. The leakage current density and breakdown field were measured to be about 10^(-8) A/㎠ at 1 ㎹/㎝ and 7 ㎹/㎝, respectively. Considerable improvement of the electrical properties could be realized by the post oxygen-plasma annealing at 200℃.

Most New Testament scholars consent that the use of tense in the imperative mood delivers aspect rather than time or Aktionsart. In spite of such agreement, contradictory arguments appear concerning the precise function of its tense. Some scholars claim that the present imperative is more emphasized than the aorist imperative. In contrast, others argue for the opposite view that the aorist in the imperative mood indicates the urgency or solemnity: the action of the aorist tense is accentuated. By the investigation of the imperative in some Pauline letters such as Ephesians and 2 Timothy, it has become evident that the latter represents an appropriate explanation. Is this conclusion applied to Colossians, too? Colossians contains much more present imperatives than aorist imperatives as most of other Pauline letters. The ratio between present and aorist is 23:7 in the epistle. Besides, the aorist subjunctive occurs three times with mh, for prohibition. Does the aorist tense for commandment and prohibition indicate the urgency or solemnity in Colossians? This study scrutinizes the usage of the aorist tense for commandment and prohibition in Colossians in order to determine if the previous conclusion is also valid for the epistle. It demonstrates that the Apostle Paul employed the present imperative when he had no special reason or intention; only when he intended to make some points prominent or emphasized, he made use of the aorist form of the imperative or the subjunctive mood for prohibition.

Tuning of the Ferromagnetic Properties in SrRuO_3 Thin Films

We studied the relation between structural modifications through epitaxial strain and the ferromagnetic properties in SrRuO_3 thin films grown by using pulsed laser deposition with a KrF excimer laser. By using various buffer layers, we were able to change the growth orientation, as well as the amount of epitaxial strain, in SrRuO_3 thin films. The ferromagnetic transition temperature, the magnetic coercivity field, and the magnetic easy axis were analyzed and compared with those of a free-standing SrRuO_3 film and single-crystal SrRuO_3.
