The purpose of the paper is to develop the methods for preprocessing for simplex method and interior point method in linear programming. We classified the methods for preprocessing into (1) analytic methods, (2) methods for removing implied free variables, (3) methods using pivot or elementary row operations, (4) methods for removing linearly dependent rows and columns, and (5) methods for dense columns. We noted some considerations which should be paid attention when preprocessing are applied to simplex method and interior point method. We implemented the proposed preprocessing method, and tested it with 28 large scale problems of NETLIB. We compared the results of it with those of preprocessing routines of SOPLEX, HOPDM, BPDPM and CPLEX.

This paper presents the design of knowledge base and inference engine for identifying the Linear Optimization Models. For the design of knowledge base, some important factors of Linear Optimization Model were analyzed and the partial order to show the relationship among the Linear Optimization Models was defined. Based on this analysis, a knowledge base was designed to represent a linear optimization model as a frame based system. The inference engine used the pattern matching technique For the efficiency of inference, the order of pattern matching and the searching space was defined and an appropriate searching strategy was applied.

While many companies facing IT outsourcing are approaching the decision to changeor maintain their vendors, previous research has focused mainly on the decision factors for initialoutsourcing and individual outsourcing types. Although some studies have been conducted on IToutsourcing, they have been limited to specific quality or threat factors. This study identifieddecision factors from the perspectives of IT outsourcing service users and providers and analyzedthe frequency and importance of decision factors among respondent groups. In addition, toimprove service quality, the weights between decision factors were calculated and prioritized, andthe Mann-Whitney U test was conducted to confirm the differences in weights between the twogroups. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the individual perception items of IToutsourcing service experience were categorized into 17 outsourcing decision factors. Second,differences in outsourcing decision factors were found between user groups and service providergroups. Third, the importance of the identified decision factors was confirmed through decisionanalysis. The IT outsourcing decision factors derived from this study will be helpful for decisionmakers who need to maintain or change vendors through outsourcing contracts.

The purpose of this paper is to show the graphic representation of a linear programming problem by a projection method. First, we develop a projection method which conserves the optimality in the projected space, and next we introduce an algorithm to visualize the feasible solution set and the solution process by the projection method. Finally, we give an example to represent a 4-dimensional linear programming problem graphically.
