An experimental study was made of flame stabilization in unconfined turbulent swirling propane gas flames using various degrees of swirl and equivalence ratios. This study was carried out to investigate the effects of swirl number and equivalence ratio on the flow characteristics and the combustion characteristics in both nonreacting and reacting flow field of the model combustor which symplifys the continuous type combustor for the practical use.

This study is to provide an aspect to the fundamental information for the opening and the reforming process of the Namsan park in Kimchen city, located in the western parts of the Kyung-Buk Province in Korea. The Namsan park is located in the centre parts of the Kimchen city. It was opened for Japanese before or after in 1910. During the periods of the Japan's colonial policy, this park was made up theirs holy place by Japanese. After the restoration of independence, a part of the park sites was leased to a school(Sion academy), and then it was disposed of that school in 1956. In 1963, the Namsan park was reopened by the campaign of the citizen of Kimchen, and then was reformed several times by the citizens' endeavors and the administration supports. At this time, the Namsan park is a famous place in Kimchen city.
만성 요독증 흰쥐에서 수면장애와 시상하부의 c-fos Protein 발현 양상과의 관계

The activation of c-fos protein(FOS) in ventrolateral preoptic neuron(VLPO) induces sleep(Science 271; 216-219, 1996). Although sleep disturbance are very common in patients with chronic renal failure, its mechahanism of sleep disturbance is not clear. The purpose of this study was to evaluate sleep dissturbance and expression of FOS in VLPO of chronic uremic rats. Chronic uremic rats were induced by 5/6 nephrectomized rnodel. After 4 weeks, blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine in uremic rats(n=14 were higher than in control(n=17) (blood urea nitrogen; 73.6±24.8mg/dl vs. 23.3±2.9 mg/dl, P$lt;0.001 serum creatinine', 1.49±0.42mg/dl vs. 0.66±0.12mg/dl, P$lt;0.001). General activity was counted with infrared during day time(08:00-20:00) and night time(20:00-08:00). Rats were killed at 10:00 or 16:00 during day time(uremic rats 7, control 9) and at 22:00 during night time(uremic rats 7, control 7). The expression of FOS in VLPO was examined with immunohistochernical method. The number of day tirne general activity in uremic rats was significantly higher than in control (458±185 vs. 222±41, P$lt;0.001), and the number of night time general activity in uremic rats was lower than in control(949±430 vs. 1618±261, P$lt;0.001). During day time, the number of FOS immunoreactive cell in uremic rats was lower than in control (18.4±5.3 vs. 42.8±6.3, P$lt;0.001), but there was no difference between 2 groups at night time(10.8±8.4 vs 12.5±5.1, P=0.62). There was strong negative correlation between the number of activity and the number of FOS immunoreactive cell in control(r= -0.93, P$lt;0.001), but there was no correlation in uremic rats. This study shows that sleep disturbance in chronic uremic rats might be related to decrease of expression of FOS in VLPO.

The purpose of this study is to analysis of probabilistic maintenance cost Variation ranges through surveys of maintenance cycles/maintenance cost ratios for wastewater treatment plants To achieve this purpose, seven plants of similar capacity were selected and surveys on its maintenance cost were conducted with its operation managers. The maintenance cycles and cost ratios were carried out through the surveys and applied to determine expected maintenance costs based on a forty-year operating period. A probabilistic analysis on the maintenance costs was carried out to derive its variations and sensitivity. The results of this study are as follows: The total maintenance costs have an average of 3,358 million KRW and vary from a minimum of 2,900 million KRW to a maximum of 3,925 million KRW. In sensitivity analysis, the structure with the most sensitive maintenance costs is grit chamber followed by disinfection tank, aeration tank, first and final sedimentation basin, and flow equalization tank in descending order of sensitivity.
