This study was done to investigate the English front vowels /e/ and /??/. These vowels are difficult for Koreans to discern and pronounce. So they show a foreign accent in pronouncing them. In order to find out the reason for Koreans' foreign accent, experiments are carried out with the help of acoustic instruments. The results of the experiment show that there is a considerable difference, especially in vowel length, between the way Korean and Americans pronounce the two English vowel, /e/ and /??/. When Americans pronounced English front vowel /e/ and /??/ there was a big difference in vowel length between the two vowels. But for Koreans there was only a little difference between two vowels and as a result Korean showed a foreign accent when they spoke these two English front vowels. Therefore we need to consider the difference of vowel lengths between /e/ and /??/ in teaching English pronunciation. Keywords: front vowel, foreign accent, vowel length

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are recognized as leading causes of significant human suffering, loss of productivity, and economic burdens on our society. WMSDs are associated with work patterns that include fixed or constrained body positions, continual repetition of movements, force concentrated on small parts of the body, cold environment and vibration. Main effort to protect workers from WMSDs should focus on avoiding repetitive patterns of work through engineering controls which may include mechanization, ergonomic design of tools and equipment, and workplace layout. Where elimination of the risk factors is not practical, administrative controls involving job rotation, job enlargement and enrichment, teamwork should be considered.

Objective: To develop a BARAW (By Avoiding Repetitive motions, Awkward postures and Weights) tool which can be applied to assess and improve the musculoskeletal discomfort and pain associated with nursing service workers. Background: Most of existing MSDs assessment tools were developed to investigate the repetitive works commonly found in manufacturing industry. A new approach is needed to assess such non-repetitive works as those done by nurses. Method: As the first step of developing BARAW tools, we investigated the existing assessment tools and guidelines for nurses. And then, BARAW tools were developed based on the results of the expert interview. Based on FGI (Focus group interview) and literature review, a questionnaire was developed to investigate the causes of the musculoskeletal discomfort and pain. Reliability of the questionnaire was tested. Results: The procedure of using the BARAW tool is as follows; 1) finding the cause of discomfort and pain 2) finding possible interventions, 3) implementation of the interventions, 4) evaluation of BARAW’s effectiveness, 5) feedback. Very high reliabilities were obtained from the test. Conclusion: It was shown that BARAW tool developed in this research is a readily applicable to the works of nurses. Application: BARAW tool could be extended to other non-repetitive works.

The purpose of this study is to develop the service quality measurement scales on property management systems in hotel(PMSQUAL). Therefore the hotel property management systems service quality measurement attributes and dimensions have higher validity and reliability than before. The procedure of this study is as follows: First, the attributes and dimensions are developed through the rigorous analysis of literature review. Second, the attributes and dimensions have been developed are refined after the pilot survey. Third, the final survey used for criterion-related validity test, reliability test and factor analysis. Eventually, thirty three attributes and eight dimensions are extracted and discussed.
