      • Localization for Transcription Factors in the Stage of Early Embryo Development in Porcine

        Embryo development is the most important time in the life of a multicellular organism because the limited cells of the embryo produce all the cells of the adult body. And transcription factors are transcriptional regulatory proteins that specifically bind to the transcriptional regulatory region DNA and activate or inhibit the transcription of that gene. It is change in the stage of embryo development that positions and levels of expression of transcription factors. Therefore, we know that transcription factors conduct vary crucial role in the stage of embryo development. So, if we could identify clearly changes of transcription factors, it can be very helpful in understanding the mechanism of embryo development. We experimented in transcription factors from GV oocyte to blastocyst how are expressed in porcine. We focused on especially pluripotency genes, which play an important role in early embryo development. So we conducted to immuno- staining using antibodies of Cdx2, Oct4, Sox2, Nanog, and E-Cadherin. Unfortunately we used mouse’s antibody because pig`s antibody against transcription factors did not exist. We checked five transcription factors (Cdx2, Oct4, Sox2, Nanog and E-Cadherin) in early embryo development in porcine. We found different expression patterns between mouse and pig in some stages. Therefore, we need to experiment that different patterns of transcription factors play a role in species, and why occur.

        Transcription factors play a very important role in the development of embryo. It is different for each growth stage that position and expression level of the transcription factor. Also, it is different pattern in species of mammals. So we thought that if we could well know the expression of the transcription factor in the stage of embryo development, it would be more benefit in embryo culture system. Because the stages of early embryo development are basically from oocyte to blastocyst, we checked transcription factors from oocyte to blastocyst how are expressed in pig. We focused on pluripotency genes, which play an important role in early embryo development, among the transcription factors. So we were conducted to immuno-staining using antibodies of CDX2, OCT4, SOX2, NANOG, and E-CADHERIN. Unfortunately we used mouse`s antibody because pig`s antibody against transcription factors did not exist. We identified five transcription factors (CDX2, OCT4, E-CADHERIN, NANOG, and SOX2) in early development of oocyte embryo development in pig. Our results showed not only similar patterns but also different patterns between pig and mouse. Therefore, we have to investigate that different patterns of transcription factors play a role in pigs, and why come out.

      • A Study on High Efficiency Waste Asbestos Destruction by Microwave

        Asbestos has characteristics of heat insulation, flexibility, durability, and nonflammability, and is widely used as an anti-friction agent including anti-slip, asbestos board used as a ceiling material or wall material, asbestos compression plate used for heat radiation and asbestos cement pipe, It has been used in many parts of daily life, such as commercial products such as cladding and packaging products. These asbestos have been designated as a cause of serious diseases such as asbestosis, malignant mesothelioma, and lung cancer due to dust exposure, and are designated as first - level carcinogens. However, most of them are in the form of landfill by simple solidification, and in the long run, there is a risk that they are harmful to human body. Therefore, considering the economic and environmental aspects of waste containing asbestos, waste asbestos. In this study, waste asbestos samples were collected for the recycling of asbestos waste, and studies were conducted to characterize the collected waste asbestos. In order to confirm the composition of waste asbestos, firstly, a roll mill was used. In order to improve the harmless efficiency of waste asbestos crushed by the crushing device, the particle size of the waste asbestos was controlled using a pin mill. The characteristics of waste asbestos were confirmed by changing the mixing ratio of waste asbestos - inorganic material, microwave temperature, and time for harmless wastes of pulverized asbestos.

      • Room-temperature processing of CdSe quantum dots with tunable sizes

        <P>In this work, CdSe quantum dots (QDs) with tunable sizes have been fabricated via photoinduced chemical etching at room temperature, and the related reaction mechanism was investigated. The surface of QDs was oxidized by the holes generated through photon irradiation of oxygen species, and the obtained oxide layer was dissolved in an aqueous solution of 3-amino-1-propanol (APOL) with an APOL: H2O volume ratio of 5:1. The generated electrons promoted QD surface interactions with amino groups, which ultimately passivated surface defects. The absorption and photoluminescence emission peaks of the produced QDs were clearly blue-shifted about 26 nm with increasing time, and the resulting quantum yield for an 8 h etched sample was increased from 20% to 26%, as compared to the initial sample.         중학교급 학습자 서술형 답안의 언어적 특성 연구 -사회과 학업성취도평가 서술형 문항을 중심으로-

        Although descriptive questions have the advantage of being able to evaluate the higher mental abilities of the learners by allowing their thoughts or opinions to be directly described, the difficulties and fairness of the scoring have been pointed out as limitations. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to examine the fundamentals of such questions rather than the issue of whether they faithfully meet the requirements of an assessment tool so as to avoid surface descriptions of the resulting limitations. For this purpose, this study analyzed learners' descriptive answers using systemic functional linguistics (SFL), which regards language as a tool of knowledge construction. The “somewhat awkward and partial learners' answer,” which is one of the categories in the scoring process, contains much information about the learner's current stage of knowledge construct development. The analysis confirmed that the learners' descriptive answers showed transitional characteristics from “everyday language” to “scientific language.” It is possible to summarize the linguistic characteristics of the learners' answers as a faded metaphor―an intermediate stage of transitioning to a complete level grammatical metaphor. From the point of view of language development, this “faded metaphor” is an important reference point for understanding “what,” “when,” and “which form” is needed for learners to attain an ideal academic language. In order to collect a variety of language data from learners, closely observe their developmental stages through the data, and introduce the results back into education, a consistent theoretical framework is needed that should be based on all these processes. The grammatical metaphor theory of systemic functional linguistics used as the theoretical basis of this paper is not only a theoretical framework that can examine the conceptualizations of subject experts(assessors) and learners(appraisees), but can also serve as a basis for collecting and analyzing language data. It also supports the concrete content of the teaching and learning methods for teaching students. Based on this, it is necessary to emphasize the role of language as an essential tool for the knowledge construction of the subject of Korean in order to provide a theoretical basis for establishing a step-by-step, systematic teaching and learning strategy, as well as contributing to the refinement of scoring training and management measures.

      • Preparation of GF37 for the improvement of respiratory inflammation

        Panax ginseng (PG) and Perilla frutesens (PF) leaves have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action, which can alleviate various diseases caused by fine dust. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find the optimal ratio of ginseng and perilla leaves to maximize the anti-inflammatory action. PG and PF were extracted three times for 6 h at 70℃ with 70% ethanol and concentrated in vacuum, respectively, and then powdered by spray dryer. PG:PF were each made at different ratios to make 9 samples; CHJ1 (1:9), CHJ2 (2:8), CHJ3 (3:7), CHJ4 (4:6), CHJ5 (5:5), CHJ6 (6:4), CHJ7 (7:3), CHJ8 (8:2), CHJ9 (9:1). Each sample was measured TNF-a, IL-6, and ROS against fine dust (PM10) using MH-S cells. Among the 9 mixed samples, CHJ2 and CHJ3 inhibited the inflammation and oxidative stress induced by fine dust the best. In a confirmation experiment comparing these samples with PG and PF samples, the CHJ2 sample was finally selected because it had the best anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects at a low concentration. Finally, a CHJ2 sample in which PG and PF were mixed in a 3:7 ratio was selected as a material for improving respiratory inflammation, and was named GF37.

        다문화가정 어머니와 발달지원자 설문을 통해 본아동의 언어환경 및 언어발달 실태

        This study surveyed multicultural mothers' and developmental supporters' views on multicultural children's language environment and language ability. In general, mothers seemed to be integrated into Korean culture with a positive parenting attitude and high expectation of their children using the Korean language. Both mothers' and supporters' responses to the child's communicative difficulties seemed be to the same regardless of language developmental period. There was no significant correlation between mothers' acculturation and children's language development. For children in the developing language period, there was significant correlation between mothers' positive parental attitude and children's language development. Given that one third of the children were screened as at risk in language development, and half of the mothers seemed not to respond to their children's language ability, speech language pathologists (SLP) need to be involved more actively in screening multicultural children's language ability. Furthermore, SLPs need to be careful in consulting mothers and identifying truly language impaired children from multicultural backgrounds.

        빈집 밀집 지역 특성 및 유형 분류에 관한 기초연구 - 경상남도 진주시를 중심으로 -

        Vacant houses, which have emerged as a problem in small and medium-sized cities in provincial areas, continue to increase, and are seriously threatening the social and economic stability of cities along with the decline of cities. This study selected the old town of Jinju City, where population decline and functional differentiation occurred due to multinuclearization after the creation of the innovative city. The old town of Jinju City needs to distinguish the types and characteristics of vacant houses by region because the problems of poor and old detached houses are serious due to various economic, social, and physical effects. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the actual condition of vacant homes based on field surveys in the old town of Jinju City, Cheonjeon-dong, Sangbong-dong, Jungang-dong, and Seongbuk-dong, and then classify the types by calculating the grade, and to derive the regional characteristics of each vacant house type. The distribution of vacant houses was determined based on the data of defective old houses and detached houses provided by local governments in Jinju City, which were processed as point data based on the direct investigation by the officials in charge. Through on-site surveys, regional characteristics, local community characteristics, and vacant home occurrence characteristics were identified, and for classification of types, the grade was calculated based on the vacant home survey index. The scope of this study is limited to the old town of Jinju City, so the generalization of the results is limited, but the study is meaningful in that it reveals differences in the types of vacant houses depending on the region. As a follow-up study, an analysis of the objectivity and spatial effects of actual indicators will be conducted together.

        Curcumin-Loaded PLGA Nanoparticles Coating onto Metal Stent by Electrophoretic Deposition Techniques

        Restenosis after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) continues to be a serious problem in clinical cardiology. To solve this problem, drug eluting stents (DES) with antiproliferative agents have been developed. Variable local drug delivery systems in the context of stenting require the development of stent manufacture, drug pharmacology and coating technology. We have worked on a system that integrates electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technology with the polymeric nanoparticles in DES for local drug delivery and a controlled release system. The surface morphology and drug loading amount of DES by EPD have been investigated under different operational conditions, such as operation time, voltage and the composition of media. We prepared poly-D,L-lactide-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) nanoparticles embedded with curcumin, which was done by a modified spontaneous emulsification method and used polyacrylic acid (PAA) as a surfactant because its carboxylic group contribute negative charge to the surface of CPNPs (-53.55.8 mV). In the process of trial and error endeavors, we found that it is easy to control the drug loading amount deposited onto the stent while keeping uniform surface morphology. Accordingly, stent coating by EPD has a wide application to the modification of DES using various kinds of nanoparticles and drugs.

        Awareness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in current smokers: a nationwide survey

        Background/Aims: Cigarette smoking is the most common risk factor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, few studies of the attitudes toward COPD of smokers, the group at risk of developing this condition, have been conducted. The purpose of this study was to explore the awareness of and attitudes toward COPD of current smokers. Methods: The sample consisted of 502 individuals aged 45 and older from throughout Korea who smoked at least 10 packs of cigarettes per year. Telephone interviews using a structured questionnaire were conducted with respondents. Results: First, we evaluated the health status of subjects, finding that 45.4% considered themselves to be in good health. We also asked about COPD-related symptoms, and 60.6% of subjects reported such symptoms. However, only 1.2% of subjects had been diagnosed with or treated for COPD, only 0.4% spontaneously mentioned COPD as a respiratory disease, and only 26.5% recognized COPD as a respiratory disease after seeing a list of such diseases. Television ranked as the top source of information about COPD. The willingness of 45.0% of subjects to stop smoking increased after being informed about COPD. Conclusions: Despite having COPD-related symptoms, most smokers did not know that COPD is a respiratory disease. The attitudes of smokers toward COPD and smoking cessation varied according to socioeconomic status. In summary, a continuous effort to increase the awareness of COPD among smokers is needed. Additionally, strategies tailored according to different socioeconomic groups will also be necessary.
