This study examined the relation between aggression and intelligence in young children. The WPPSI-R was administered to 165 children 3 to 7 years of age. The teacher and the parent separately rated each child`s level of aggressive behavior on the same 10 item questionnaire. There was no relationship between aggression and intelligence. However, the aggression scores correlated with age and sex. Thus, intellectual ability is not directly related to aggressive behavior in young children. The implication of these results and the shortcomings of this research were discussed.

This study compared multicultural Korean children's narratives with those of monocultural children. Thirty five children with mothers from Japan or the Philippines and thirty five peers participated in narrative generation tasks. For preschool children, two stories of five-cut pictures (Pae & Lee, 1996) were provided and a frog story (Mayer, 1969) was used for school-aged children. In the results, both preschool- and school-aged children from multicultural backgrounds (MUC) performed less efficiently than children with monocultural background (MOC) in narrative composition. As for preschool children, MOC children produced more story grammars than MUC children, especially in the category of result. For school-aged children, there was no difference between the total number of story grammars of MUC children and that of MOC children, although NMC children produced storygrammar of background more frequently than that of NMC children. MOC children performed higher than MUC children in the percent of appropriate cohesive device usages. Interestingly, MUC preschool children used appropriate cohesive devices less frequently than the MOC group, meanwhile MUC school-aged children usedinappropriate cohesive devices more frequently than MOC children.. In conclusion, MUC children develop story grammars commensurate to their peers although their story composition and cohesive devices need to be more finely tuned

Responsiveness and initiative between infant and mother from toy centered play situation at 6, 7 months of age and infant`s social communication skills at 12 months were studied in a sample of 62 infant-mother pairs. Through the video analysis, infants were grouped into simple react group, cooperated group, and active initiative group. In the between groups, we analyzed whether mother`s initiative act styles and response styles were different, and whether their social communication skills were different when they tested at 12 months. The results showed that mother`s initiative styles were not different but mother`s response styles were significantly different with infant groups. Further result showed that cooperated group gained higher score than active initiative group in the total score of Eary Social Communication Skills scales at 12 months of age. The results suggested that mother`s responsive behaviors were more important than initiative behaviors for the infant`s positive interaction, and the difference of these behaviors would lead to a gap of early social communication abilities.
