This study elicits the development factors of the leisure-sports industry by systematically analyzing the special characteristics of the potential demand of the present and the future in order to scientifically predict the future trends of the leisure-sports. The following are the results of the studies analyzed with such materials: Firstly, the unearthing of the core future industries must take place in the future in order to secure the problematic points and potentials of the aspects of the regional economic industries. Secondly, the problems of the legal and systematic aspects for the unfolding of the winter sports industry must continue to be supplemented. For this, the strengthening of the winter sports policies and the diversifications of the other leisure-sports programs must be proceeded with. Thirdly. because the leisure-sports programs have been carried out unsystematically on a single-shot level, the programs that suit the special characteristics of the regions and the development plans are required. For this purpose, there is a need to generally classify and develop the large-scale resorts- including the skiing grounds, golf courses, etc.- and the regional tourist spots. Fourthly, the expansions of the facilities and programs for the generation of high added values based on the strong points and diversities by the special characteristic of the good environment and activities are required. Fifthly. the strengthening of the competitiveness of the leisure-sports category, which is a tourism and leisure industry, is acutely needed with regard to the aspect of the strengthening of the industrial resources. For this purpose. an optimistic scenario of the leisure-sports industry is that the strategic industrialization of the tourism field must be systematically promoted. Sixthly, the strengthening of the insufficient functions and the organization of the programs that correspond to the trends based on the trends of the lives and leisure of the potential consumers and the special characteristics of the sense of leisure and the forms of the potential consumers and on the present usage forms and desires in the sports and tourism fields are required. Seventhly, at present. Gangwon-do acutely needs a strategy for the strengthening of the strong point factors related to the special features of the tourism and the sports. In the end. this study has reorganized the linked tourism resources centered on the specific regions as a tourism industry with leisure and sports as the themes. And, this study has examined plans for the reorganization of the regional industrial structures by basing on the sports, leisure, and tourism industries. In addition. I believe that diverse studies must be carried out in order to be raised as a Mecca region of the leisure-sports of Northeast Asia.

Human sparganosis is a rare infection caused by a tape worm larva, the genus Spirometra. Most infection occurs in the soft tissue, and sparganosis of the brain is very rare. There is no effective chemotherapy, and the best treatment for cerebral sparganosis is surgical removal of the worm, as in the case of the noncerebral form. A 40 year-old Korean man presented a 10 year history of episodic confusion followed by grand malseizure. He also had a history of consuming snake meat. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of the brain showed a lesion of the right temporoparietal lobe. Micro-ELISA test for sparganum specific antibody revealed high anitbody levels of absorbance 0.39 in serum, and 0.53 in cerebrospinal fluid. He refused operation, and a single maximal 50 Gy dose of irradiation by gamma knife was done. After 6 months, the lesion had no interval change on brain CT.

Microstructures in the directionally solidified duplex stainless steels were investigated in order to understand the effect of nitrogen addition and its precipitation in the α phase. It was found that the addition of nitrogen causes the formation of fine precipitates in α matrix and segregation phases of nitrogen in the α/γ interface. Both the fine precipitates and the segregation phases were identified as CrN(fcc, a=4.18Å), as a coherent phase related to the α-bcc matrix with crystal relationship of (200) CrN//(01 ̄1)α and (1 ̄1 ̄1)CrN//(3 ̄2 ̄1)α.

A new high yield and storability lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) cultivar “Jeoksagye” was developed from a cross NAAES DL 114 (late bolting and high yield) and NAAES DL 108 (late bolting and disease resistance) in 1997. We selected desired characteristics in advanced lines generated by pedigree method until 2001. Especially, we advanced two generations in 2001, and four lines were selected. These lines were evaluated for yield and stability in 5 areas (Gangwon, Gyeonggi, Chungbuk, Gyeongnam, and Jeju) for 2 years in Korea. The “Jeoksagye” has gray seed color and transverse elliptic leaves. Compared to Ttugseom-jeokchugmyeon marketable yield of “Jeoksagye” was heavier as a 513 g per plant, 1.5 times more than that of per leaf, and also can be stored 3 weeks more at 4oC. The taste of “Jeoksagye” is sweet and contains less amount of total bitter sesquiterpene lactones (BSL) of 132.1 μg/g than the check variety of 324.1 μg/g dry weight.
