In order to compare the effect of 10 % pentastarch solution with Ringer's lactate solution on plasma volume expansion in thirty epidural anesthetic patients, systolic arterial blood pressure (SABP), diastolic arterial blood pressure(DABP), heart rate(HR), central venous pressure(CVP), cardiac output(CO) and changes of hemoglobin(Hb) were measured. The patients were devided into three groups Group Ⅰ (n=10) ; Epidural anesthesia was performed without fluid infusion previously(control) Group Ⅱ (n=10) ; 500 ml of Ringer's lactate solution was rapid infused intravenously before epidural anesthesia Group Ⅲ (n=10) ; 500 ml of 10% pentastarch solution was rapid infused intravenously before epidural anesthesia All data were collected before fluid infusion, at 15 min, at 30 min, at 45 min, at 60 min, at 120 min and at 180 min after epidural local anesthetic injection. The results are as follows. 1. SABP, DABP, HR, CVP and CO were decreased significantly (p<0.05) at 30, 45 minute after local epidural anesthetic injection in Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅱ. There was no any significant differences between two groups. 2. SABP, DABP, HR and CO were not changed significantly, Besides CVP was increased significantly (p<0.05) after 10% pentastarch solution infusion in group Ⅲ. 3. Changes of Hb were increased in group Ⅲ.

Mixed convection heat transfer is investigated by numerical solution of Navier-Stokes and energy equations for and isothermal rectangular beam. The solutions have been obtained for aspect ratios of beam, W=0.3~3, Reynolds numbers, Re=50~150 and Grashof numbers, Gr=0~5×10⁴. The results indicate that as Re increases, the mean back surface Nusselt number decreases to Re=120 for W=0.3 and Re=95 for W=1, 3 and then increases. Independent of aspect ratios of the beam, the mean beam Nusselt number at Gr=10⁴ shows similar value in the region of mixed convection. The mean beam Nusselt number distribution for W=0.3 shows the highest value at Gr/Re²≤1.0 and that for W=3 at Gr/Re²〉1.0. Comparison between the experimental and numerical results shows good agreement.
환경농업 시범마을 논에서 시비에 따른 무척추동물 개체 수 변화

논의 관리방법에 따른 수서생물상의 변동 양상을 파악하기 위하여 종합적인 환경농업기술 시범 2개 지역의 논 및 하천에서 주기적으로 조사 분석하였다. 논에서의 수서 무척추동물의 총 개체 수는 두 지역 모두 농가관행구에 비해 화학비료 토양검정 시비구에서 62% 이상 높았고 그 다음은 두 지역에서 서로 다르게 나타나 옥천의 경우 농가관행구, 양평은 화학비료+개량재 순으로 많고, 가장 적은 처리는 무비구였다. 수서곤충의 총 개체 수는 토양검정시비구가 농가관행구 옥천 및 양평 각각 328, 45.1/L보다 56%, 69% 더 많았다. 갑각류의 총 개체수는 옥천 지역에서는 토양검정 화학비료구> 화학 비료+개량제구> 농가관행구> 무비구 순으로 많았으며, 양평에서는 화학비료+개량제구>토양검정 화학비료>무비> 농가관행구 순으로서 과다 비료시용구인 농가관행구에서 가장 적었다. 두 지역의 논관류 하천에서 서식하는 수서 무척추동물은 59과 76종이 분류되었고, 미확인종이 14종으로 조사되었으며, 특히 물방개과 중 노란테 콩알 물방개 및 땅콩 콩알 물방개가 채집되었고 양평 지역에서는 날도래 종류가 다양하게 서식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 하천지류별 수서 무척추동물 서식밀도는 두 지역 모두에서 상류보다는 하류에서 밀도가 높았으며, 옥천의 연평균 성적에서도 하류에서 1300/0.09 ㎡로 최상류에 비해 172% 더 많은 밀도를 나타냈다. 친환경 농업 실천 2개 지역에서의 논 서식 수서 무척추동물 개체 수 조사 결과 일반관행 농가 논 91.1/L 보다 58% 더 많았다. This study was conducted to survey and identify kinds and population of the freshwater invertebrate fauna according to the managements of paddy rice fields at Ok-Chun and Yang-Pyung. The experiment was conducted in 4 paddy plots; conventional fertilization plot (CF), fertilization by prescription with soil testing with (ST+A) or without soil amendment (ST), and no fertilization as the control. In addition, the freshwater invertebrate fauna was also surveyed at 3 sections of as upper, intermediate and down, in both Jitan and Bungsan stream. The total number of the freshwater invertebrates was higher in the order of ST>CF>ST+A>C and ST>ST+A>CF>C at Ok-Chun and Yang-Pyung, respectively. The population density of aquatic insects was higher in plots fertilized by prescription with soid testing than in the other plots at both demonstration villages. The freshwater invertebrates collected in Jitan and Bungsan stream were identified and classified into 59 families and 90 species, and their population density was highest in the downstream among.

Becker`s nevus is a relatively common acquired focal epidermal melanotic hypermelanosis usually found in the region of the shoulder girdle of young men. Various skeletal malformations and cutaneous dermatoses have been reported in Becker`s nevus. Osteoma cutis is a rare disorder characterized by compact bone formation in the dermis or subcutaneous tissue. Secondary ossification on nevi has been reported, but not with Becker`s nevus. Herein, we report a case of Becker`s nevus with accompanying osteoma cutis in an 18-year-old female. (Ann Dermatol 23(S2) S247~S249, 2011)

<B>Summary</B><P>Evaluation of apoptosis and expression level of apoptosis-related genes is useful for examining the variation in embryo quality according to environmental change. The objective of this study was to investigate DNA fragmentation and apoptosis-related gene expression patterns in frozen-thawed bovine blastocysts.<I>In vitro</I>produced day 7 blastocysts were frozen by two different vitrification methods (conventional 0.25 ml straw or MVC straw). After thawing, DNA fragmentation of surviving embryos was examined by TUNEL assay, and the expression patterns of their apoptotic genes (survivin, Fas, Hsp 70 and caspase-3) were evaluated using real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction.<I>In vitro</I>survival rates of frozen-thawed embryos were higher following the MVC vitrification method (88.2% re-expanded at 24 h, 77.1% hatching at 48 h) than the conventional (C) vitrification method (77.0% re-expanded at 24 h, 66.7% hatching at 48 h). However, both vitrified methods resulted in a significantly higher apoptotic index (C vitrification method 11.9%, MVC vitrification method 11.0%) than in non-frozen embryos (3.0%). Expression levels of survivin, Fas, caspase-3, and Hsp 70 were also increased in the frozen-thawed embryos compared with non-frozen embryos. These results indicate that the cryopreservation procedure might cause damage that results in an increase in DNA fragmentation and apoptosis-related gene transcription, reducing developmental capacity of frozen-thawed embryos.</P>

This experiment was to investigate whether the mitochondria function assessment can be used for the prediction of sperm fertility through examining the correlation between mitochondria fluoromicroscopic frequency of frozen-thawed eight Hanwoo bull semen using rhodamine123 (R123) and in vitro embryo development following fertilization. Individual sperm were stained in 5 μg/mL R123-added calcium-free Sp-TALP for 30 min at 0 h, 6 h, 12 h and 24 h after thawing and examined their mid-piece under an epifluorescence microscope using 495 nm excitation filter (×1,000). Three replications were taken, and at least 300 sperm per individual were examined. When semen samples were separated into two groups (good and poor) by sperm motility and fluorescent frequencies at just after thawing, average fluorescent frequencies were remarkably reduced as time going (0 h; 53.29~72.94%, 6 h; 21.40~58.90%, 12 h; 8.26~25.93%, 24 h; 1.00~13.78%), irrespective of selected group, and there were no differences at 6 h or 12 h after thawing between selected groups but indicated significant difference at 24 h after thawing (p<0.05). In vitro fertilization rates in good and poor groups ranging 70.8~77.8% and 52.1~84.5%, respectively, were not significantly different. However, in vitro development rates of the same groups ranging 25.7~40.0% and 12.9~1.8%, respectively, were significant different (p<0.05). These results demonstrate that mitochondria fluoromicroscopic assessment of frozen-thawed bovine sperm may be used as a criterion to select more fertile sperm.
