Black wood ear mushroom (Auricularia auricula-judae) is one of the most economically important mushrooms in China, Japan, and Korea. The cultivation of wood ear mushrooms on artificial substrates is more efficient in terms of time and cost compared with their natural growth on trees. However, if the substrate cultivation is infected by fast-growing fungi, the relatively slow-growing ear mushroom will be outcompeted, leading to economic losses. In this study, we investigated the competitive fungal isolates from substrates infected with fast-growing fungi for the cultivation of ear mushrooms in Jangheung and Sunchon, Korea. We collected 54 isolates and identified them by sequencing their internal transcribed spacer region with morphological identification. Among the isolates, the dominant isolates were Trichoderma spp. (92.6%), Penicillium spp. (5.6%), and Talaromyces sp. (1.8%). To find an appropriate eco-friendly biocontrol agent, we used five Streptomyces spp. and Benomyl, as controls against Trichoderma spp. and Penicillium spp. Among the six Streptomyces spp., Streptomyces sp. JC203-3 effectively controlled the fungi Trichoderma spp. and Penicillium spp., which pose a significant problem for the substrates of black wood ear mushrooms. This result indicated that this Streptomyces sp. JC203-3 can be used as biocontrol agents to protect against Trichoderma and Penicillium spp.
Eye and skin irritation tests to assess the safety of Jeju saline groundwater

Saline groundwater was obtained from a 100-m deep basalt layer into which seawater had infiltrated. This groundwater is known to contain various minerals. Like deep seawater, saline groundwater is expected to have various applications due to the presence of biologically beneficial minerals. In Korea, saline groundwater is mainly obtained from the coastal area of Jeju. Before applying saline groundwater to various products, however, its biological safety needs to be examined. In the present study, skin and eye irritation tests were performed to assess the safety of saline groundwater according to the guidelines of the Korea Food and Drug Administration. When compared to control, Jeju saline groundwater showed no level of eye and skin irritation. These results suggest that Jeju saline groundwater induces no irritation, and is therefore sufficiently safe to be applied to the eye and skin of people.
학교교육에 대한 고대-근대 철학과 탈-근대 철학의 관점 비교

오늘날 학교에서 발생하고 있는 폭력 및 부적응 행동들을 개선하기 위해 각종 컨설팅 및 교육 사업이 학교에 투입되고 있다. 그러나 학교 교육이 왜 이러한 문제를 양산하는가에 대한 근본적 성찰이 이루어지지 않으면 이들은 문제의 형식적인 봉합에만 머물 수 있다. 그러므로 배움과 가르침의 가치를 상실한 학교 교육의 원인을 근본적인 차원에서 찾아내고, 이에 따라 교육의 방향을 새롭게 설정할 필요가 있다. 연구자들은 현재 우리의 공교육이 고대와 근대에까지 이어진 철학적 패러다임에 붙들려 있다는 사실을 근본적인 원인으로 생각하고, 이를 넘어서는 새로운 철학적 사고방식을 찾아내는데 연구의 목적을 두었 다. 그렇게 된다면 교육 활동의 구체적인 기능과 지향점 역시 변화할 수 있을 것이기 때문이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 변화와 생성, 개개인의 독특성을 강조하는 최근의 철학적 논의에 바탕을 두고 ‘차이’와 ‘생성’, ‘자기 배려’를 키워드로 두어 이들을 분석, 제시하려 한다. 그리고 인식론, 존재론, 가치론적 관점에서 교육이 어떻게 적용되어야 할지 고찰하였다. 새로운 철학적 패러다임이 학교 교육에 접목된다면 교육의 목적은 단순히 지식 전수가 아니라, 저마다 다양한 차이를 가진 학생들의 지식 및 감수성 계발로 자연스럽게 재설정될 수 있을 것이다. In order to renovate the school education, we should go beyond the primal purpose of public education. Not providing pre-determined solutions for students and not learning immutable knowledges about the world by rote, it should be the way that students and teachers create the meanings together. It has something in common that recent philosophical discussions emphasize the change and the creation out of the classical philosophies which insist absolute and permanent world views. From the ancient greek philosophy which concentrates on concerning and understanding permanent world to modern scientific rationality which explains the world as one principle, people had realized the world as a fixed object. However, many philosophers of nowadays deny the thought that reasonable human seeks the eternal truth. When we accept the difference which was covered and disappeared by the philosophy of ‘uniformity’, we are able to realize the world more broadly. Furthermore, the philosopher such as Gilles Deleuze says that the difference makes new one, that is, becomes the creation. In this study, based on the main keyword of ‘Difference’, ‘Becoming’, and Self-care , we examined the way to graft the sub-theories of philosophy onto the education in the view of epistemology, ontology, and axiology. If new paradigm of the philosophy is applied to the school education, we can re-define the goal of education as not just instructing knowledges but that students having different ability are able to acquire new knowledges and develop their sensitivity.
