        Objective: The authors investigated the frequency of persecutors in persecutory delusions of the psychiatric patients who didn't undergo the arrest or traumatic injury, reside in Gwangju Jeonnam area, and were admitted to the hospital after the 5.18 prodemocracy movement in Gwangju in 1980 upward 10 years. Also this study investigated the frequency of the persecutors before and after the prodemocracy movement and in capital and Gwangju Jeonnam area. Subjects and Methods: Among the 896 patients who were admitted to department of psychiatry, Chosun University Hospital from Jan. 1. 1989 to Dec. 31. 1991, we choosed 144 patients with persecutory delusion who had lived in Gwangju Jeonnam area for 10 years after 5.18 prodemocracy movement as subjects. Persecutors were classified into 7 class: unspecified, family, neighbors, communist or spy, police or army or secret agent, impersonal, others. Results: 1) In our study, the frequency of persecutors was family, unspecified, neighbors, police or army or secret agent, impersonal, others, communist or spy in descending order. As compared to previous studies (1956-2003) including our study about frequency of persecutor at capital area and Gwangju Jeonnam area, and before and after 5.18 prodemocracy movement, 2) At capital area, in the early 1980s, police, family, neighbors, unspecified person was frequent in descending order. In the both of early 1970s, 1990s, neighbors, family, unspecified person, police was frequent in descending order. 3) At Gwangju Jeonnam area, in the early 1970s, family, unspecified person, neighbors, police was frequent in descending order. In the early 1990s, unspecified person and family, neighbors, police was frequent in descending order. 4) The police class was most frequent at capital area in the early 1980s. Conclusions: We suppose that class of persecutor in persecutory delusions of psychiatric patients are changing according to social change, and frequency of police class was decreasing in both of capital and Gwangju, Jeonnam area.

        Mechanotransduction of human pluripotent stem cells cultivated on tunable cell-derived extracellular matrix

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Cell-derived matrices (CDM) are becoming an attractive alternative to conventional biological scaffolding platforms due to its unique ability to closely recapitulate a native extracellular matrix (ECM) de novo. Although cell-substrate interactions are recognized to be principal in regulating stem cell behavior, very few studies have documented the acclimation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) on pristine and altered cell-derived matrices. Here, we investigate crosslink-induced mechanotransduction of hPSCs cultivated on decellularized fibroblast-derived matrices (FDM) to explore cell adhesion, growth, migration, and pluripotency in various biological landscapes. The results showed either substrate-mediated induction or inhibition of the Epithelial-Mesenchymal-Transition (EMT) program, strongly suggesting that FDM stiffness can be a dominant factor in mediating hPSC plasticity. We further propose an optimal FDM substratum intended for long-term hPSC cultivation in a feeder-free niche-like microenvironment. This study carries significant implications for hPSC cultivation and encourages more in-depth studies towards the fundamentals of hPSC-CDM interactions.</P>

      • 水稻의 登熟向上에 關한 硏究

        This study was made to get the cultural information for increasing yield with recently improved variety, investigating the effects of different transplanting date and seed size, the number of plant per hill on the growth, and the yield and yield components in rice. The results obtained were summaried as follows: 1. In larger seed, the percentage of germination was higher and the early growth was more vigorous. However, there appeared no effects of seed size in the later growing period. 2. When the young plants sown on April 26 were transplanted on 5th, 15th, 25th of June and 5th of July with 10-days interval, the heading date was promoted in earlier transplanted plots. The days to heading, however, was shortend. 3. In the case of the earlier transplanting in Tongil variety, the maximum number of tillers was increased, the percentage of effective tillers was decreased, and the rate of ripened grains was slightly higher. The yield was the highest in the transplanted plot of June 25. The next came the transplanted plots of 25th, 5th of June and 5th of July. In the early transplanted plot of Palkweong variety, heading was also promoted. The days required for heading were also proportionly shortend, the number of the effective tillers was smaller and the percentage of ripened grains also decreased. The productivity was the highest in transplanted plot of June 25. 4. When the number of plants per hill was increased, the heading date was promoted, the number of panicles was high and the number of grains per panicles was decreased. In the early transplanting of Tongil variety, the yields was the highest in 4-plants plot. When transplanted late, it was the highest in 6-plant plot. In Palkweong variety, there was general tendency of increasing of yield as the number of plants per hill increased. 5. The dwarf disease of Tongil variety and the stripe disease of Palkweong variety occurred much in case of the lesser number of plants per hill and the earlier transplanting.

        Control of maleic acid-propylene diepoxide hydrogel for 3D printing application for flexible tissue engineering scaffold with high resolution by end capping and graft polymerization

        Background: Control of 3D printing of highly tough hydrogel inks with adequate printability, scaffold fidelity and mechanical properties are highly desirable for biomedical and tissue engineering applications. However, developing a biocompatible tough ink with high-resolution printability, biodegradability, self-healing, adhesion, and integration with surrounding tissues is a big challenge in 3D printing. The aim of this study was to develop extrusion-based 3D printing of viscous hydrogel composing of maleic acid and propylene diepoxide by controlling continuous mechanisms of condensation and radical polymerization. Methods: The molecular weight of highly adhesive propagating poly(malate-co-propylene oxide) copolymer was controlled by capping its growing chain with mono-functional lipoic acid with different compositions during condensation reaction to form lipoic acid capped gel (LP-capped gel). Poly(ethylene oxide)-diacrylate, PEGDA, is graftpolymerized to the LP-capped backbone polymer (MPLE gel) by UV irradiation during 3D printing process to control the properties of gel printability, mechanical properties, and cell adhesiveness and post-printing fidelity of the printed scaffolds with high resolution and mechanical properties (MPLE scaffold). The scaffolds in complex geometries have been printed out in diverse forms with addition of model drugs with different molecular weights and chemical structures. Both the highly adhesive LP-capped gel and printing-controlled MPLE gel/scaffolds are diversely characterized and compared with for their applications to the extrusion-based printability, including biocompatibility, self-healing, drug releasing, adhesiveness, multi-layered high-resolution printing. Further in vitro/in vivo tests were done to observe cytotoxicity, immune response and tissue formation by using different cells in mice model. Results: LP-capped hydrogel from maleic acid and propylene diepoxide gel showed control of gel properties with lipoic acid with one function group of thiol during condensation reaction, and the ratio at 1:0.3 (w/v) between LPcapped gel and PEGDA was chosen for the optimal results during radical polymerization process for 3D printing at high resolution (90-140 μm in strut thickness) with various complex geometries (lattice, rhombus, and honeycomb). The hydrogel showed excellent properties of self-healing, mechanical strength, biocompatibility, etc. In addition, the long-term release profiles of bioactive molecules were well-controlled by incorporating drugs of high molecular bovine serum albumin (BSA, 21 days, 98.4 ± 0.69%), or small molecule ornidazole (ORN, 14 days, 97.1 ± 1.98%) into the MPLE gel scaffolds for the tests of potential therapeutic applications. More importantly, the MPLE gels represents excellent in vitro cyto-compatibility against osteoblast-like cells (MC3T3) with viability value at 96.43% ± 7.48% over 7 culturing days. For in-vivo studies, the flexible MPLE scaffolds showed significant improvement on angiogenesis with minor inflammatory response after 4-week implantation in mice. Conclusion: The MPLE gel inks was well-controlled for the fabrication of flexible complex tissue engineering scaffold with high resolutions, shear-thinning, 3D printability and post-printing fidelity, by modulating the composition of the highly adhesive LP-capped gel and inert PEGDA as well as end capping of lipoic acid to the propagating poly(malate-co-propylene oxide) copolymer. The gel ink demonstrated its excellent printability, in vitro/in vivo biocompatibility and mechanical properties as well as sustained drug release from the gel.

      • 급성 담낭염에 대한 내과적 치료의 역할

        In 58 patients who were admitted to department of internal medicine, ChungNam national university hospital from January 1989 to March, 1993. We evaluated for medical treatments and the following results were obtained. 1) The ratio of male and female was 1 : 1 and mean age of the patients was 57.4 years. 2) At arrival on hospital, the most common clinical symptom was pain in right upper quadrant and epigastrium(93.1%), the remainders were fever and chill(79.3%), nausea(51.7%) and vomiting(36.2 %) in order of frequency. 3) The most common physical findings was tenderness on the right upper quadrant and epaigastrium(98%), the remainders were jaundice(50%) and palpable gall bladder(13.8%) in order of freguency. 4) In laboratory examination, elevated levels of ESR(82.8%), leukocytosis(67.2%), elevated levels of AST(62.0%), ALT(50.0%), serum total bilirubin(51.7%) and alkaline phosphatase (43.1%) were noted. 5) The mean period of NPO was 3.9 days and the mean hospital period was 13.5 days. 6) The rates of combined complications in patients with acute cholecystitis were 17.2%; these are gall bladder empyema(5.2%), hydrops(5.2%), perforation(3.4%), sepsis(3.4%) and intestinal obstruction (1.7%). 7) In 96.6 percent of 58 cases, the symptoms of acute cholecystitis were improved by conservative management. 8) The mean follow-up period was 25.5 months and the recurrence rate was 10% during this period.

      • 저속총격을 받는 스마트 복합적층판에 부착된 압전센서의 특성에 관한 연구

        The use of piezoelectric sensors to detect potentially damage-inducing impact events is one promising method of monitoring structural integrity of composite structures. The present paper describes the results of a research effort to characterize the performance of piezopolymer sensors in a smart composite structure subjected to low-velocity impact. In order to predict the sensor output signal due to impact, an analytical model was developed by combining equations describing the piezoelectric behavior of the sensor with a Rayleigh-Ritz analysis of composite panel subjected to low-velocity impact. In the experimental portion of this work, piezopolymer sensors were epoxy-bonded to the surface of a laminate and impact testing was conducted to establish the relationship between the sensor response and impact location and energy. As the impact energy was increased for a given impact location, it was found that the shape of the sensor output waveform remained consistent but the amplitude of the signal increased. The analytical solution showed good agreement with experimental data for the initial sensor response due to low-velocity impact.

        Buckling and delamination growth behavior of composite laminates with circular initial delamination

        In this paper, the sub-laminate local buckling, global buckling and delamination propagation behavior of composite laminates with circular embedded delamination were studied numerically. First, linear buckling analyses were performed and buckling loads and modes of local sub-laminate and global buckling were identified. Next, geometrically nonlinear postbuckling and delamination propagation analyses were performed. Buckling deformation was instigated by seeding finite element meshes with a small amount of combined linear buckling modes. In-plane failure and interface delamination were accounted for by a continuum damage mechanics method and cohesive zone modeling, respectively. Analyses were performed to investigate the interaction between local sub-laminate buckling, global buckling, in-plane failure, and delamination propagation. The dependence of buckling behavior on the size and depth of location of pre-delamination was also investigated by a series of parametric studies.

        고온초전도체 in-situ ramp-edge 형태의 조셉슨 접합 제작 및 특성

        본 연구에서는 금속 칼날 마스크와 펄스형 레이저 증착장치를 이용하여 $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$/$SrTiO_{3}$/$YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ 다층박막 형태의 In-situ SIS ramp dege 형태의 접합을 제작하였으며, 이의 특성을 조사하였다. 접합은 RSJ 형태의 전류-전압 특성ㅇ르 나타내고 있으며, 온도 변화에 따른 접합의 normal resistance는 약 $18 \omega$으로 온도에 무관하게 일정한 값을 나타내었다. 접합형태를 이용하여 감도(transfer function, dV/$d\Phi$)가 약 $22\mu$V/$\Phi_{0}$인 dc-SQUID센서를 제작하였으며, in-situ SIS ramp edge 형태의 접합이 센서로의 응용가능성을 충분히 가지고 있음을 보여 주었다. In this study, we have fabricated in-situ multilayer $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$/$SrTiO_{3}$/$YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ ramp edge type junctions by using a metal mask and pulsed laser deposition method and studied the junction properties. The junctions showed RSJ-like I-V characteristics. The normal state junction resistance R, of $18 \omega$ was nearly constant with temperature. The dc-SQUID sensors fabricated with the junctions show a sensitivity that transfer function dV/$d\Phi$)~$22\mu$V/$\Phi_{0}$, indicating that the in-situ ramp edge type junction is potentially useful for sensor application.

        염증성 근섬유모세포종의 증례보고

        The inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (inflammatory pseudotumor) is a rarely occurring soft tissue lesion of unknown etiology. It can be of any location, but commonly it is found in lungs. It has been considered as a nonneoplastic reactive inflammatory lesion, but nowadays, confusion and dispute about its character is increasing due to its high recurrence rate and metastasis. We present a patient who had been diagnosed with an inflammatory pseudotumor in the right maxilla area, 1 year before visiting our hospital. After that, her pain and swelling did not resolved and she visit our hospital. On radiographic examination, aggressively infiltrative growth of the lesion with destruction of adjacent bony structure was noted. We found unusual aggressiveness of the inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the head and neck region. Because the typical behavior of the inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is not defined yet, we recommend the surgical excision of the lesion and close follow-up.
