        Scrub typhus, caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi , is an acute febrile illness. Characteristics of tsutsugamushi disease are fever, rash and eschar. However, severe complications might rarely occur, such as acute fulminant myocarditis caused by scrub typhus. Thus, there are few reports of recovery from seriously complicated cases. We report on an adult male with scrub typhus complicated with acute fulminant myocarditis with no previous comorbid illness who recovered successfully with proper treatment including antibiotics, ventilator support, percutaneous cardiopulmonary support, and continuous renal replacement therapy.

      • 신경회로망을 이용한 전력부하의 단기예측 및 GUI의 개발에 관한 연구

        This paper presents the methods of short-term load forecasting using Kohonen neural networks and back-propagation neural networks and a development of GUI by window programming with visual basic and visual C++. First, used historical load data is divided into 5 patterns for the each seasonal data using Kohonen neural networks and then load forecasting neural network using these results are used for next day hourly load forecasting. Next hourly load of weekdays and weekend except holidays are forecasted. In summer load forecasting, max-temperature and min-temperature data as well as historical hourly load data are used as inputs of load forecasting neural networks for a better forecasting accuracy. To show the possibility of the proposed method, it was tested with hourly load data of KEPCO.

      • 토지경계분쟁의 실태와 경계설정방향에 관한 연구

        This study aims to assess the disputes on Parcel boundaries and present the direction of boundary demarcation by means of investigating and analyzing the judicial fast·s related to the boundary disputes in Korea. This study is limited to the cases made by the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court. 1250 cases are collected in the web site of Ministry of Legislation and analyzed in relation with boundary disputes to show dispute assessment and a methodology for boundary establishment. To identify the main reasons for the occurrence of the disputes, an analysis of the cases of boundary disputes that can be divided into civil, criminal and special cases has been taken and the result shows that the boundaries registered on cadastral maps contain considerable problems, the boundaries on the maps do not play its role as legal boundaries and the boundaries on the maps has not been considered in the procedures of criminal and special lawsuits as the precedent cases show, Therefore, on the basis of investigated and analyzed results, the proposed methodologies for establishing parcel boundaries are identified as follows:firstly change of the legal boundary to the ground boundary, secondly establishment of a special organization for the settlement of boundary disputes, and lastly promotion of a cadastral resurveying project by the fusion of real occupancy boundary with the map boundary.

      • 일부 도시지역 주민들의 비만도와 관상동맥질환 위험인자와의 관련성

        The present study was intended to reveal the relationships between the severity of obesity and various risk factors for coronary heart disease. The studs subjects were 1.838 urban inhabitants (male: 962. female: 876) who went through a general health check-up during the period between January through December. 2001. The degree of obesity was estimated by BMI and its relation to coronary heart disease risk factors were investigated. With respect to the severity of obesity. the mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure. TC. LDL-C. TG and AI increased significantly. but HDL-C showed a reversed pattern. with a higher severity. On the other hand. no difference was found in FBS. The severity of obesity was directly correlated with SBP. DBP. TC. LDL-C. TG and AI. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors relevant to the severity of obesity were sex. DBP and TG. The odds ratio was 2.3 times higher in women than in men. and DBP and TG were 3.8 and 1.8 times higher in the obesity group than in the normal weight group. respectively. In conclusion. blood pressure. TC. LDL-C. TG. and AI significantly increase. and HDL-C decreases in proportion to the severity of obesity. The maintenance of desirable body weight should be a target for intervention with the idea of coronary heart disease prevention.

      • 환기팬 시스템의 소음 저감에 관한 실험적 연구

        This paper introduces an experimental study for the noise reduction of a ventilating fan system. For the purpose of noise reduction of it, an absorptive duct silencer filled with a glass fiber has been conventionally utilized. However, a glass fiber has some disadvantages like hygiene and secondary pollution problems. In order to overcome these problems, in this paper, a perforated duct silencer has been applied to the ventilating fan system. For the designing of a perforated duct silencer, the transmission losses for various perforated panel systems are measured and compared with their sound absorption performances.

        Bacillus lentimorbus WJ5의 감마선유도 돌연변이체들에서 공통으로 발현되는 방사선 관련 유전자의 microarray 분석

        본 연구에서는 감마선으로 유도된 돌연변이체들에서 공통으로 발현되는 방사선 관련 유전자들의 발현을 연구하기 위하여, B. lentimorbus WJ5의 방사선 유도 돌연변이체에서 발현되는 유전자를 DNA microarray로 동시에 탐색하였다. DNA microarray는 B. lentimorbus WJ5 genome을 무작위로 절단하여 2,000단편으로 구성하였으며, 감마선 (^(60)Co)으로 유도된 7돌연변이체의 발현을 정량적으로 관찰하였다. 클러스터 분석결과 발현된 408 유전자 중 27개가 감마선 유도 돌연변이체 모두에서 유의하게 발현이 증가되었다. 특히, 복구(mutL, mutM)에너지 대사 (acsA, sdhB, p하, yhjB, citB), protease(npr), 산화자극에 대한 환원 (HMM)관련 유전자들이 동시에 증가되었다. 이는 감마선 유도 돌연변이체들에서 자발적인 직/간접 복구 관련 유전자의 발현 증가는 방사선 노출 직후 보이는 stress response와는 다른 현상임을 나타내는 것으로 생각된다. To study the radiation related gene expression in mutants of Bacillus lentimorbus WJ5 induced by gamm radiation, the simultaneous gene expression was analyzed by DNA microarray. We constructed DNA chips including two thousand randomly digested genome spots of B. lentimorbus WJ5 and compared its quantitative aspect with seven mutants induced by gamma radiation (^(60)Co). From the cluster analysis of gene expression pattern, totally 408 genes were expressed and 27 genes were significantly upregulated by the gamma radiation in all mutants. Especially, genes involved in repair (mutL, mutM), energy metabolism (acsA, sdhB, pgk, yhjB, citB), protease (npr), and reduction response to oxidative stress (HMM) were simultaneously upregulated. It seems that the induction of the direct and/or indirect repair related genes in mutants induced by gamma radiation could be remarkably different from the adaptive responses against acute exposure to radiation.

        케네스 맥밀런의 작품세계와 그 성향에 관한 연구

        Kenneth MacMillan can be portrayed such a good choreographer who has a sense of discribing the fact' realistically. He has made 40 years of his career focused on presenting our daily life that we had, are having, and will have, and believed the ballet could do that. His belief also had an influence on non-ballet genres such as literature, dramas, and movies. On the other hand inspiration, dramatic eliments and story-telling which all stem from non-ballet genres can be found in his works. These days he is one of choreographers who have the most pioneering spirit and put enormous efforts in studying other areas. His works have fully proved the possibility that the general area of the ballet - commonly called classical or authentic area - can be broadened in ballet's themes and choreographic methods. Seymour one's said "Kenneth MacMillan was a lebel. He stirred up the system with such a dramatic story refrecting the dark side of human nature." which summarizes MacMillan's work well. Mainly, MacMillan's choreography is a 'narrative ballet' informality and, is dealing with death and sex' in theme. In addition, it should not be overlooked that his work is absolutely creative.

        Bacillus sp. MS202에 의한 Dinitroaniline계 제초제인 Pendimethalin의 부분환원

        토양과 지하수에서 pendimethalin의 지속성은 환경에 해로운 영향을 미친다. 경남 마산에서 분리한 pendimethalin분해 균주는 API CHB50 kit 시험, FAME 분석, 그리고 165 rDNA 염기서열분석 결과로 Bacillus sp. MS202로 잠정적으로 동정하였다. TLC, GC, 그리고 GC-MS 분석에 의해 Bacillus sp. MS202가 pendimethalin의 -NO₂를 -NH₂로 환원시킨다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 일반적으로 알려진 호기성 미생물에 의한 pendimethalin 분해가 탈알킬화가 우선한다는 보고와 상반되는 새로운 결과이다. The persistence of pendimethalin in soil and ground water has an injurious effect on ecosystem. Pendimethalin-degrading bacterium was isolated from Masan, Gyeongnam province and temporarily identified as Bacillus sp. MS202 by the analysis of API CHB50, kit, FAME, and 16S rDNA sequence. From the analysis of pendimethalin metabolite using TLC, GC, and GC-MS, we found that the degradation of pendimethalin by Bacillus sp. MS202 did not result in the dealkylated form, but the formation of the reduced compound, 6-amino-2-nitro-N(1-ethylpropyl)-3,4-xylidine or 2-amino-6-nitro-N(1-ethylpropyl)-3,4-xylidine.

        섬유강화형 포스트를 이용한 치관-치근 파절의 치료: 증례 보고

        The crown-root fracture is defined as a fracture of tooth that contains enamel, dentin and cementum with or without pulp exposure. Generally the fracture lines place obliquely from labial surface, between incisal edge of the crown and marginal gingiva, to palatal surface subgingivally. If the fracture line is located supragingivally, the removal of tooth fragment and supragingival restoration can be performed. In subgingival fracture line, the surgical exposure, orthodontic eruption or surgical eruption can be considered. If the fracture line is too deep to restorate, extraction or decoronation can be selected. In children and adolescents, the extraction should be the last option. Another option to select before extraction is the restoration using fiber-reinforced post and the reattachment of tooth fragment. The fiber-rainforced post enhances the retention and the durability of tooth fragment. The reattachment of crown fragment using resin adhesive system is considered minimal invasive treatment biologically. This case reports the treatment of crown-root fracture using the reattachment of crown fragment and the insertion of fiber-reinforced post. 치관-치근 파절은 법랑질, 상아질, 백악질이 모두 포함된 치아의 파절로, 파절선이 대부분 절단연이나 순측의 변연부 치은 에서 구개측 치은열구 하방으로 사선으로 진행된다. 파절선의 위치가 치은 연상이라면 파절편의 제거 및 치은연상 수복을 시 행하고, 치은 연하라면 파절면의 외과적 노출술, 교정적 정출술, 외과적 정출술을 이용한 치아의 수복이 이루어진다. 그 외에 섬유 강화형 포스트를 삽입하여 치관 수복물의 유지력을 높이고, 레진 접착 시스템을 사용하여 치관 파절편을 재부착함으로 써 생물학적으로 최소한으로 침습적인 치료를 하는 방법도 있다. 만약 파절의 정도가 치은 연하로 깊은 경우 발치나 치관절제 술을 이용한 치근의 유지 등을 고려할 수 있다. 본 증례는 치관-치근파절로 내원한 12세 환아로 섬유강화형 포스트를 사용하여 치관 파절편 재부착을 시행하였으며 양호 한 경과를 보여 이를 보고하는 바이다.
