We intended to develope an vibrating intravascular lung assist device(VIVLAD) in order to exchange of efficiently gas transfer of oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange requirements for end-stage acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients. However, the clinical study, concluded that more gas exchange was needed for intravascular oxygenation to be clinically effective in ARDS treatment. In this study, we tried to enhance gas exchange on the VIVLAD by using microencapsulation of hemoglobin, as the microencapsulation of hemoglobin reduces blood hemolysis, and perfluorocarbon emulsion(PFC emulsion). As a result, it was shown that the oxygen transfer of hemosome and blood/hemosome mixed solution were higher than that of whole blood. Also, it showed that the carbon dioxide transfer of whole blood/PFC emulsion mixed solution was higher than that of others. Therefore, we determined that hemosome and PFC emulsion could increase oxygen transfer and carbon dioxide transfer, respectively.

Experimental studies were conducted to investigate for the effect of Daeganghwal-Tang(DHT) extract on the anti-inflammatory activity, analgesic activity, subacute toxicity and acute toxicity. The following results have been obtanied ; In the anti-inflammatory activity in rats, DHT extract (300,600㎎/㎏ p.o) was shown remarkable preventive effect in the edema induced by Freund's complete adjuvant and 5% acetic acid. In analgesic activity test in mouse, DHT extract(300,600㎎/㎏ p.o) was shown significant analgegic activity in mouse induced by 0.7% acetic acid. In acute toxicity test in mouse, DHT extract showed10% mortelity at DHT extract 1.200㎎/㎏ i.p. and 2,000㎎/㎏ p.o.. In subacute toxicity test in mouse. DHT extract was not showed toxicity for 19 day. Uric acid in the serum of the treated rats by Freund's complete adjuvant were slightly decreased by comparing with the control group. During the administration of DHT extract, The body weight increased, but the liver and spleen weight was not changed by comparing with the control group. .

This plan of rural housing-development is to present a new orientation for the residential culture that can meet the shifting demands of modern people as their attitudes toward naturalistic life. In this plan, sites of possible, a new housing complex is designed to supplement the site partition problem of existing housing complex by using attractiveness that the site has as a residence environment in housing planning. The conclusion can be summarized as follows. 1. Currently, most residential developments on slopes are planned with excessive slope cutting or filling on existing natural slopes rather than utilizing existing contours. In consideration of this, this proposed plan uses the existing contours of the slope to the maximum capacity in site planning. 2. The majority of the home site buyers are between the ages 30's to 50's of middle to high level incomes. Reflecting the financial needs of these families, home construction was planned by using building methods that require lower costs. 3. Reflected open-space furtherance maximum at design of community equipment for party's offer to sale in lots persons, from site purchase recognition of construction to in package sale in lots way select. 4. Considered to preserve existing natural-food life in way financial world stroke maximum, and accomplish creation with existing vegetation. Also, did planting considering privacy, and considered vegetation's environment adaptation degree because using midland style vegetation. 5. Garden wished to offer an opportunity that can make by oneself directly depending on each fondness and character to tenants. If is this intuition, wished to design, and maintained spur of housing development because housing development uses maximum natural history style comparing with other power jars all. Also, because considering people who move in housing-development, designed, and tried to make housing-development that want to live most offering the convenience.

This study was attempted to investigate the dissolution rate and the bioavailability of commercially available rifampicin preparations after oral administration in nine normal volunteers. Cross-over design was used for the analysis. The dissolution test was conducted in artificial gastric juice and artificial intestinal juice using basket method with four rifampicin preparations (A, B, C, and D) which were pharmaceutically equivalent. The results were as follows; The dissolution rate was higher in the order of A>C>B>D in artificial gastric juice, and A>B>C>D in artificial intestinal juice. Area under the blood concentration time curve (AUC) was larger in order of A>C>B>D. Relative bioavailability(%) of rifampicin preparations were 93.6% for B, 97% for C, 84.4% for D preparation compared with standard A preparation. Peak blood concentration (Cmax) was higer in order of A>B>C>D. Peak time (Tmax) was larger in order of D>C>A>B. Absorption rate constant (Ka) was larger in order of B>A>D>C. there was little difference in elimination rate constant and biological half-life. The correlation of the dissolution rate in artificial gastric juice and area under the blood concentration time curve as well as correlation of the dissolution rate in artifical intestinal juice and peak time showed significant linear relationship. From the result of the this experiments, it can be concluded that for the choice of preparations, bioavailability must be performed in man because the bioavailability of rifampicin preparations showed big differences among commercial preparations which were abvertised as pharmaceutically equivalent, and that the bioavailability of rifampicin preparations in man partially could be predicted from the results of dissolution rate.

In this study, the relationship between substance use and high-novelty seeking was tested using Cloninger et al's 240-items Temperament and Character Inventory(TCI) in 34 substance users(32 methamphetamine and 2 cocaine dependence disorders), 80 normal controls and 48 schizophrenics Demographic characteristics and substance use-related past history were taken by semi-structured interview. Subjects were aged 18-45 and general psychopathology was screened by Symptom Checklist 90 revised. The results were as follows. 1) Among temperament subdivisions in the TCI, novelty seeking(NS) was significantly higher in the substance users(22.1±4.9) than the normal controls(18.0±5.0) and the schizophrenics(15.6±3.3). There were no significant differences in other temperament subdivisions such as harm avoidance, reward dependence and persistence, neither character subdivisions such as self-directiveness, cooperativeness and self- transcendence. 2) A significant inverse correlation was found between NS and age both in the substance users(r=0.274) and the normal controls(r=0.468). This study suggested that the biogenetic temperament characteristics in substance use disorder were related with their high novelty seeking, not low harm avoidance.

In this paper, an expansion-resonator type pulsation attenuator is proposed to absorb and attenuate flow and pressure ripple with high frequencies generated froth hydraulic control systems. The basic principle of a pulsation attenuator proposed here is applied to propagation, reflection, absorption of pressure waves at the cross section of discontinuity and resonance ire the pipeline. It has advantage of the compact size and high degree of freedom for installation in hydraulic systems. The design scheme based on distributed parameter pipeline system with dissipative viscous compressible model is developed. To investigate the reduction of flow and pressure ripples with high frequencies produced by a swash plate type axial piston pump, two kinds of attenuators are manufactured. It is experimently confirmed that the spectral intensity of flow and pressure ripple with high frequencies from the pump are reduced up to about 20°∼30dB by using attenuators proposed here. The calculated results were in good agreement with the measured values. From the results of this study, it is shown that an expansion-resonator type pulsation attenuator is effective in a wide frequency ranges to attenuate the flow and pressure ripple from hydraulic components.

Pleural effusion in a patient with multiple myeloma due to plasma cell involvement of the pleura has been reported infrequently. We report a case of multiple myeloma with pleural involvement presenting bone pain and dyspnea in a 69-year-o1d woman. On the physical examination, the patient looked chronically ill with bedridden state. There was a palpable mass on the left posterior lower chest, firm but not tender and decreased breathing sound in the left lower lung. Laboratory finding revealed amemia, elevation of ESR, globulin, and calcium. X-ray of the chest showed pleural effusion in the left lower lung, and multiple pathologic fractures in the both ribs. X-ray of the skull, and pelvis revealed multiple punched-out osteolytic fractures in the both ribs. X-ray of the skull, and pelvis revealed multiple punched-out osteolytic lesion, and compression fracture in the lumber spine. Serum and urine electrophoresis revealed a M-spike. Serum and urine immunoelectrophoresis demonstrated an IgA-kappa monoclonal protein. Thoracentesis revealed serosanguinous fluid but not containing atypical plasma cells. Bone marrow examination showed 16.7% of immature plasma cells. With first cycle of melphalan, prednisone chemotherapy, improvement of pain and disappearance of pleural effusion was observed.

When the Microporous hollow fiber membrane(MHFM) was contacted with whole blood, the serum leakage(membrane fouling) was occurred in the MFHM. In general, the MHFM was in use at most intravascular lung assist device(IVALAD) which was often occurred the serum leakage, and these serum leakage were reduced the gas exchange. In this work, we tried to improve gas exchange on the IVALAD by using vibration technique. As a result, it was showed that the vibrating method of this module was very effective due to the reduction of serum leakage on MFHM. Therefore, this method was increased gas exchange, respectively.
