        Design and Parametric Study on Discone Antenna for Broadband RF Test Chamber

        This paper discusses the characteristics and effects of dielectric inner-supports on discone antenna for broadband RF test chamber, and the verification has been performed by simulation. Several design parameters such as the thickness of the gap support, the position of the side support, and the thickness of the side support has been analyzed. The thickness of the gap support affected the reflection coefficient. An effect of the offset of the side support from the center was slight below 3 GHz and significant above 3 GHz. The thickness of the side support did not affect the reflection coefficient or the gain much. The performance of the fabricated discone antenna was in good agreement with the simulated results. This investigation of a dielectric support effects could be used to design a commercial discone antenna for broadband RF test chamber, focusing on electrical performance and mechanical stability.

      • FDTD 법과 Pad 근사법을 이용한 마이크로 스트립 기판 위의 유전체 공진기 해석

        Three-Dimensional FDTD method is applied to analyze the dielectric resonator coupled with two microstrip lines. We model accurately the curved surface using Noriaki model. The frequency resolution is 106.46 MHz by the conventional FFT However it is not sufficient for determining its resonant frequency. So we introduce the Pad approximation and Stoer-Bulirsch method in order to have the high frequency resolution degree, 1.00 MHz. All results are compared with the measured data. As a result, we acquire the very precise result through the Pad approximation. And sinusoidal wave is applied. From the plot of the electric and magnetic field distribution, it is shown that the resonant mode is TE$_{01{\delta}}$ mode. 두 개의 마이크로 스트립 선로를 이용하여 결합한 유전체 공진기를 유한 차분 시간 영역(FDTD)법을 적용하여 3차원 해석을 하였다. 유전체 공진기의 표면은 곡면으로서, Noriaki model을 이용하여 정확하게 모델링 하였다. 일반적인 FFT에 의해 106.46 MHz의 주파수 해상도를 얻었지만 공진 주파수를 결정할 수가 없다. 따라서 1.00 MHz의 높은 주파수 분해능을 갖기 위해서 Pad 근사법과 Stoer-Bulirsch법을 적용하고 측정치와 비교하였다. 그 결과 Pad 근사법을 통하여 매우 정확한 공진주파수를 얻었다. 그리고 정현파를 인가하여 전자계 분포를 도시하였으며, 공진 모드가 TE/sub 01δ/ 모드임을 알 수 있었다.

        A Low-Cost Method to Evaluate Absorber Reflectivity Using an Antenna with a Small Radiating Aperture and Frequency-Domain Instrument

        We propose a way to measure the absorber reflectivity at a low cost. Only one simple antenna with a small radiating aperture and a frequency-domain instrument are utilized. The previously used equation for calculating the reflectivity of an absorber is inaccurate, and, therefore, a new equation is derived based on multiple reflection analysis and three test models. Notably, the reflection coefficient of the antenna is included in the derived equation. The accuracy of the proposed method is proven through simulation and measurements. It can be easily applied to a product examination by absorber manufacturers and customers owing to its advantages of simplicity, cost effectiveness, and non-cutting examination.

        Rotman 렌즈를 이용한 BMWS용 빔 제어 안테나

        도파관 렌즈를 이용한 기존의 Rotman 렌즈 안테나는 렌즈 내부면에서 안테나 소자까지 구부러진 도파로를 가지고 있다. 그러나 본 논문에서는 직선 도파로를 갖는 개선된 Rotman 렌즈 안테나를 제안하였으며 이를 적용하여 3개의 입력 단자와 6개의 개방된 도파관을 안테나 소자로 가지는 BMWS용 빔 제어 안테나를 설계 및 제작하였다. 측정 결과 빔 제어 안테나는 15.4 - 17.2 dB의 이득과 0$^{\circ}$, +14$^{\circ}$~ +16$^{\circ}$, -15$^{\circ}$~ -16$^{\circ}$의 지향각 그리고 약 -10 ~ -20 dB의 부엽레벨을 가진다 The conventional Rotman lens antenna using a waveguide lens has the bended waveguide from the inner lens contour to the antenna element. However in this paper the improved Rotman lens antenna having a straight waveguide is proposed. By applying this technique, the beam steering antenna for BMWS application which has 3 input ports and 6 antenna elements consisted of open-ended waveguide has been designed and fabricated. From the measurement, the gain of the beam steering antenna is 15.4 ~ 17.2 dB. The direction angle is 0$^{\circ}$, +14$^{\circ}$~ +16$^{\circ}$, -15$^{\circ}$~ -16$^{\circ}$ and the side lobe level is -l0 ~ 20 dB.

        중국 군사외교의 이론과 실천

        Why has China exerted effort into military diplomacy since the late 1990’s? This may have originated from the strategic decision of Chinese leadership to promote national modernization through reform and opening-up policy. Prior to this, Chinese leadership had been stuck in a ‘revolution’ and ‘struggle’ since the establishment of the country. However, it subsequently transformed into a nation of ‘construction’ and ‘stability’ through reform, opening-up and the end of the Cold War. With a new agenda, the leadership required a stable and peaceful security environment for successful economic reform, opening-up and national modernization. As a result, it performed military diplomacy with ‘all-direction’, ‘all-area’ and ‘multi-dimension.’This research aims to identify the theoretical and practical characters of Chinese military diplomacy. It focuses on reviewing general theories in military diplomacy and finding features in theory and practices of Chinese military diplomacy. The paper also delineates a typology of behaviors on the background and progress of Chinese military diplomacy with ‘all-direction’, ‘all-area’ and ‘multi-dimension.’What type of Chinese military diplomacy is aimed at the two Koreas? It may be a complex type of ‘symbol,’ ‘pulling’ and ‘balancing’ rather than a single type. Specifically, China implements military diplomacy toward South Korea based on the ‘pulling’ strategy, and adopts a ‘balancing’ strategy towardNorth Korea. This difference is not caused by the ideology but rather by Strategy on the Korean peninsula concerning Sino-U.S relations, changes of the domestic political environment and national interests.

        중국의 對남북한 인식과 기조에 관한 연구

        It is very important issue to find an answer to questions as to what is China's intention to repeat push and pull game between two parties of the Korean peninsular and what is strategic elements that made China keep alliance with North Korea and partnership with South Korea, respectively. With these concerns in mind, this study aims to analyze release of the Chinese government and literatures on China's policies and to compare China's perception of South and North Korea presented in major medias in China,Chinese Diplomacy White Paper and Defense White Paper. Findings show that China's strategic thinking and perception toward the Korean peninsular go as follows. First, China's strategic thinking and perception toward the Korean peninsular is not fixed but has continuously changed. Change in external and internal environment surrounding China and Chinese leaders were conductive to this change, and especially two elements were decisive in this change. Second, if this state of affairs is considered,China is likely to consider national interests first rather than ideological factors in seeking to adjusting China's strategic thinking of the future and China's perception toward South and North Korea. However, China will do this in a long term with the aim of either 'balancing' or 'pulling' purpose rather than in a short term integrated way.
