Objective : We investigated the effect of Poncirus trifoliata and Citrus aurantium extract in mice with cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis (AP) model. Methods : AP was induced via intraperitoneal injection of cerulein (50 ㎍/kg) given every hour for 6h. Poncirus trifoliata (PT: 200 or 400 ㎎/kg) and Citrus aurantium (CA: 200 or 400 ㎎/kg) extract were injected 1 h before in mice with cerulein-induced AP. Mice were sacrificed at 6 h after last injection of cerulein. Blood samples were taken to determine serum amylase and lipase levels. The pancreas and lungs were rapidly removed for morphological examination, myeloperoxidase assay. Results : PT pre-treatment significantly protected the pancreas and lung damages and reduced the MPO activity and serum amylase in cerulein-induced AP. However, CA pre-treatment did not significantly protected the pancreas and lung inflammation in cerulein-induced AP. Conclusion : These results suggest that PT but not CA could protect the cerulein-induced AP.

현대의 교정치료에 있어 치열궁의 문제뿐 아니라 안모에 관한 비중이 높아지고 있고, 특히 안모형태를 결정하는 연조직의 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 과거의 교정학 발달을 살펴볼 때 두부방사선 계측사진을 통한 경조직성장에 관한 연구는 많이 이루어 졌으나 연조직 성장변화에 관한 연구는 아직 미비하다고 볼 수 있다. 특히 국내에서의 이러한 연구는 연구대상자 수와 분석방법, 계측방법에 있어서 상당한 다양성을 보이고, 성장변화에 대한 연구는 태부족한 현실이다. 이에 본 연구는 남, 녀 6세에서 17세 사이의 악안면 성장과 발육에 관한 조 종단적 연구의 일부로 시행되었으며 3년간에 걸쳐 전신질환이 없고 발육상태가 양호하며 정상교합을 갖는 6-17세의 남자 409명과 여자 436명의 아동을 대상으로 하였다. 이들 아동의 성장에 따른 안면부 연조직의 변화양상을 연구하기 위해 두개안면계측사진을 촬영하여 안모의 형태, 입술의 위치 및 형태, 코의 형태 그리고 입술의 두께 등을 계측한 후 연령별, 성별 평균과 표준편차를 구하고 도표로 표시하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 결론 1. 일반적으로 안모의 형태(facial form)는 여자에서보다 남자에서 더 장기간 성장이 지속되었으며 안면의 상부에 비하여 안면 하부구조의 길이가 더욱 큰 증가율을 보였다. 2. 상순과 하순의 두께는 연령의 증가에 따라 큰 변화가 없었으나, 서양아동에 비하여 돌출된 입술의 양상을 보였다. 3. 코의 수평방향으로의 길이는 연령의 증가와 함께 증가하였다. 4. 하안면부의 수평적인 두께는 연령에 따라 증가하였으며 상순의 비저부위의 두께[A-Sn(FH)]의 성장이 다른 부위에 비하여 크게 증가하였다. Along with traditional goal of 'straightening teeth', today`s orthodontics put more and more emphasis on facial esthetics. Naturally, the importance of soft tissue, which dictates one`s facial form, is noticed. There have been many cephalometric studies on growth of hard tissue; however, only a few on that of soft tissue. In Korea, various methods of sampling, measuring and analysing were used to study soft tissue changes, and yet, soft tissue changes along with process of normal growth have not been studied. The author carried out this study as a part of semi-longitudinal study on craniofacial growth and development of Korean children from ages of six to seventeen. 409 boys and 436 girls who`d had no systemic disease for the last three years and shown normal developmental and occlusal status were chosen as subjects. Cephalometric X-rays were taken of each subject, and facial form, lip position & form, nose form, and lip thickness were measured. Mean values and standard deviations were calculated according to age and gender, and figures and tables were drawn accordingly. The following results were obtained: 1. In respect to facial form, boys showed growth for longer period compared to girls. Also, lower face showed higher growth rate than upper face. 2. There was not much change in thickness of upper and lower lips with age; however, they appeared more prominent compared to caucasian children. 3. Nose grew horizontally with age. 4. Horizontal thickness of lower face increased with age, and upper lip thickness at nose base[A-Sn(FH)] showed more growth than anywhere else.
사료 단백질원으로 어분과 대두박 첨가에 따른 어린 흰다리새우 (Litopenaeus vannamei)의 성장 및 체성분 변화

A 4-week feeding experiment was conducted with juvenile white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei to compare the growth of shrimp fed different protein sources: fish meal (FM) and soybean meal (SM). By the end of the experiment, the shrimp grew to 4.50±0.82 g (FM) and 4.73±0.95 g (SM). The food and protein conversion rates were significant (P<0.05), while other factors did not differ significantly. The survival rate of shrimp fed FM and SM was 96.44±2.04% and 97.33±1.89%, respectively. The proximate compositions of the entire body and edible part of the shrimp were similar between FM and SM, except for crude protein. The total amino acid levels were slightly lower in SM than FM, but the difference was not significant. During the experiment, the total ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite concentrations increased continuously in both groups and were slightly higher in SM than FM. In conclusion, soybean meal as a substitute for fish meal results in satisfactory growth and survival of white shrimp.
The inhibitory effects of Nardostachys jatamansi on alcoholic chronic pancreatitis

Nardostachys jatamansi (NJ) belonging to the Valerianaceae family has been used as a remedy for gastrointestinal inflammatory diseases for decades. However, the potential for NJ to ameliorate alcoholic chronic pancreatitis (ACP) is unknown. The aim of this study was to examine the inhibitory effects of NJ on ACP. C57black/6 mice received ethanol injections intraperitoneally for 3 weeks against a background of cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis. During ACP, NJ was ad libitum administrated orally with water. After 3 weeks of treatment, the pancreas was harvested for histological examination. NJ treatment increased the pancreatic acinar cell survival (confirmed by amylase level testing) and reduced collagen deposition and pancreatic stellate cell (PSC) activation. In addition, NJ treatment reduced the activation but not death of PSC. In conclusion, our results suggest that NJ attenuated ACP through the inhibition of PSC activation. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of waiting time from diagnosis to initiation of definitive concurrent chemoradiation (CCRT) on overall survival in patients with cervical cancer. Methods: Patients with cervical cancer who had definitive CCRT between 2000 and 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. Time from pathological diagnosis to definitive CCRT was analyzed both as a continuous variable (per day) and as a categorical variable in 2 groups (Group 1 median, Group 2 > median). Patients with waiting time more than 60 days were excluded. Associations between waiting time, patients baseline characteristics, and survivals were analyzed using the Cox proportional-hazards model. Results: The median waiting time was 14 days (0-60). There were differences between Group 1 and Group 2 in age and type of chemotherapy. However, no significant difference was found in the FIGO stage, cell type, and the number of cycles of chemotherapy received during CCRT. Longer waiting time was associated with poorer overall survival on the Kaplan-Meir curve (Group 1 vs. Group 2, P = .042). On multivariate analysis, intervals as either a continuous variable (HR; 1. 023, 95% CI; 1.0061.040, P = .007) or a categorical variable (HR; 1.513, 95% CI; 1.0732.134, P = .018), FIGO stage, cell type, and the number of cycles of chemotherapy received during CCRT were significant independent prognostic factors for overall survival. Conclusion: Longer waiting time from pathological diagnosis to definitive CCRT was associated with worse overall survival. Our findings suggest that stakeholders in healthcare, including physicians and policymakers, should make an effort to minimize waiting time by rethinking factors involved in waiting time, such as referral time and time from decision making to treatment.
