리듬강화 음악표현활동이 유아의 음악적성과 수학능력에 미치는 영향 = The effects of rhythm-strengthened musical expressive activity on young children's musical aptitude and math ability

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of rhythm-strengthened musical expressive activities on young children's musical aptitude and math ability. The subjects of this study consisted of 50 five-year-old children from kindergartens A and B located in city D comprised of the experimental group and control group. The experimental group participated in the rhythm- strengthened musical program for a total of 20 times during 10 weeks, while the comparison group experienced only musical expressive activities related to everyday topics based on the Nuri curriculum. The tools used in this research were the Primary Measures of Music Audiation and testing tools of math ability from young children's drawing by Hwang, Hae-Ik and Choi, Hye-Jin(2007). The collected data were analyzed using ANCOVA to identify the differences between the groups. The results of this study are as follows. First, the total score of young children's musical aptitude and its sub-categories in the experimental group that participated in rhythm-strengthened musical expressive activities were meaningfully and, significantly higher than that of the comparison group. Second, the total score of children's math ability, geometry ability and measurement ability in sub-categories in the experimental group that participated in rhythm-strengthened musical expressive activities were higher compared to that of the comparison group. These results indicate that rhythm-strengthened musical expressive activities are effective for increasing young children's musical aptitude and math ability.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 리듬강화 음악표현활동이 유아의 음악적성과 수학능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하는 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구대상은 D시에 소재한 A유치원의 만 5세반 유아 25명을 실험집단으로 하고 B유치원 만 5세반 유아 25명을 통제집단으로 임의배정 하였다. 실험집단을 대상으로 리듬강화 음악표현활동을 20회 실시하였고 통제집단은 누리과정에서 제시하는 음악활동을 시행하였다. 본 연구에서 사용한 검사도구는 Gordon(1986)의 음악적성검사와 황해익과 최혜진(2007)의 유아수학능력 검사도구를 사용하였다. 두 집단의 사전검사 점수를 공변인으로 하여 공변량분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였고 분석결과 리듬강화 음악표현활동을 실시한 실험집단이 유아의 음악적성과 수학능력에 긍정적인 결과가 나타났다. 따라서 리듬강화 음악표현활동이 유아들의 음악적성과 수학능력향상에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.
