        Alternative Biological Material for Tissue Engineering of the Vagina: Porcine-Derived Acellular Vaginal Matrix

        Background: Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is a severe congenital disorder characterized by vaginal hypoplasia caused by dysplasia of the Müllerian duct. Patients with MRKH syndrome often require nonsurgical or surgical treatment to achieve satisfactory vaginal length and sexual outcomes. The extracellular matrix has been successfully used for vaginal reconstruction. Methods: In this study, we developed a new biological material derived from porcine vagina (acellular vaginal matrix, AVM) to reconstruct the vagina in Bama miniature pigs. The histological characteristics and efficacy of acellularization of AVM were evaluated, and AVM was subsequently transplanted into Bama miniature pigs to reconstruct the vaginas. Results: Macroscopic analysis showed that the neovaginas functioned well in all Bama miniature pigs with AVM implants. Histological analysis and electrophysiological evidence indicated that morphological and functional recovery was restored in normal vaginal tissues. Scanning electron microscopy showed that the neovaginas had mucosal folds characteristics of normal vagina. No significant differences were observed in the expression of CK14, HSP47, and α-actin between the neovaginas and normal vaginal tissues. However, the expression of estrogen receptor (ER) was significantly lower in the neovaginas than in normal vaginal tissues. In addition, AVM promoted the expression of β-catenin, c-Myc, and cyclin D1. These results suggest that AVM might promotes vaginal regeneration by activating the β-catenin/c-Myc/cyclin D1 pathway. Conclusion: This study reveals that porcine-derived AVM has potential application for vaginal regeneration.       • Research on Simulation and Optimization of Tobacco Logistics Center Based on Flexsim

        According to backward technology, tedious process, failure orders and goods queuing of traditional tobacco enterprise logistics center, the process optimization methods is proposed by application of RFID technology. Firstly, actual operating environment of Harbin Tobacco Company (Abbr. HTC) logistics center in China is used as background to analyze the problems existing in the process through investigation. Secondly, the logistics center simulation model is established by using Flexsim simulation technology in order to find out the cause of the problems of logistics center operation process. Finally, operation process of logistics center is optimized. The result shows that the operating efficiency of logistics center has increased by 22.4%. It proves that the effect of this kind of research method for the optimization of tobacco logistics center process is remarkable and it provides a new way of thinking to implement RFID technology in the logistics center of this industry.

      • ICP Registration Technology based on the Coordinate System Direction Fit

        In computer assisted surgery, one of the most important problems is to align the preoperative model with intraoperative data. The Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm is undoubtedly the most popular algorithm for solving this kind of problem, which needs a good initialization. In this paper, an ICP algorithm based on the coordinate system direction fit is present to improve ICP algorithm’s shortcoming with easily falling into local optimum for intraoperative registration. Firstly, ICP registration algorithm and its problems are introduced. Secondly, based on the consistency between CT scans pose and surgical pose, a three-plane coordinate system on patients is established to reduce the rotation dislocation between CT image space and patient space. Then, an ICP algorithm experiment and its precision analysis are conducted. Finally, the error analysis is also given. The experimental results show that one of the benefits of the ICP algorithm based on the coordinate system direction fit is that it is easily convergent on the registration by a three-plane coordinate system on patients, which increases the registration accuracy and reduces the computational processing time .

        Effects of gas flow on particulate deposition in EGR coolers

        This paper presents the test approach to investigate the effects of gas flow rate on particulate deposition inside the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) coolers. The tests were carried out on a diesel engine equipped with the EGR cooler that a given total gas flow rate passed through and that contained pluggable exchanger tubes to adjust the flow rate in the tubes. Test results show that under the given coolant temperature and EGR gas temperature, the lower flow rate in the exchanger tube is and the longer tubes are, the more particulate with D p > 50 nm deposit in the cooler. With the given total gas flow rate passing through the cooler, the lower flow rate in the exchanger tube is and the longer tubes are, the larger deposit mass is inside the cooler. In the cases of longer tubes, the effects of gas flow rate on the deposit mass are depends on the effects of gas velocity on the particulate deposition, rather than the effects of flow rate on the particulate number passing through the heat exchanger tube per minute.

        Effects of coolant temperature on particulate deposition and cooling efficiency of EGR coolers

        Porous fouling layers formed by particulate deposition in the EGR cooler tubes degrade the cooling efficiency of the EGR coolers. This research has investigated the changes of the particulate concentration under varied coolant temperature conditions and the effects of the coolant temperature on the cooling efficiency of the cooler tubes by measuring the particulate concentration and size distribution at the cooler inlet and outlet. The experiment results indicate that for the particulates of different sizes, the thermophoretic force acting on them and the regeneration vary under the same experiment conditions, presenting distinctive effects on the particulate concentration distribution in the exhaust gas and causing concentrations of nuclear particulates and aggregated particulates to change, respectively. The mass of fouling layers inside the cooler tubes increases as the coolant temperature decreases. Decreasing the coolant temperature not only increases the quantity of fouling particulates but also forms more particulates of big sizes, causing cooling efficiency of the cooler tube per unit length to decrease with the decrease of coolant temperature and the increase of the tube length.

        Blood lipids and all-cause mortality among old people: the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey 2008-2018

        OBJECTIVES: Proper blood lipid levels are essential for survival in older adults, but inconsistent relationships have been reported between blood lipids and all-cause mortality in the elderly. METHODS: This retrospective longitudinal study analyzed data from 1,067 Chinese older adults enrolled in the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey collected in 2008 and followed up until death or December 31, 2018. The outcome was allcause mortality. Multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) with stratification by age (60-80, 80-100, or ≥ 100 years) for further analysis. The survival probability according to lipid profile quartiles was calculated using Kaplan-Meier curves and the log-rank test. RESULTS: The participants’ mean age was 84.84 years, and 57.0% were female. In total, 578 individuals died, and 277 were lost to follow-up. The mean total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels were higher among those who died than among those who survived. Participants in the second HDL-C quartile and the highest LDL-C and triglyceride (TG) quartiles had 28% higher, 23% lower, and 49% lower risks of all-cause mortality, respectively. After further adjustment, the associations remained except for HDL-C, and additional associations were observed between all-cause mortality and the third TC and LDL-C quartiles and the second TG quartile (HR, 1.44; 95% CI, 1.01 to 2.06; HR, 0.68; 95% CI, 0.49 to 0.94; HR, 0.79; 95% CI, 0.62 to 0.99, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Older adults should maintain an LDL-C level of 1.91-2.47 mmol/L and a TG level of no less than 1.66 mmol/L.

      • Research and Implementation of RGB-LED Mixed Light Matching along with Music Playing

        Synesthesia effect between music and color is a researching direction which is concerned much. The problem of mismatching between music playing and color had always existed in applications. On the basis of researching music and color, colors which are corresponding to various chords respectively are determined, and the frequency spectrum analysis on chords is performed. The real-time frequency domain transformation to time domain audio signal being played is carried out. The closest chord to audio signal being played can be identified via comparison between a chord spectrum and the spectrum of audio signal being played, and the color corresponding to the audio signal is determined. To improve the accuracy of recognition the method is investigated with which wavelet transform is adopted to de-noise processing of audio signal. Through tests on the audio experiment platform, color mixed effect test, optimization of the audio signal processing parameters, and processing time sequence scheming have been performed. A novel audio player is developed in application to realize the optimal RGB-LED mixed light which automatically presents matching color effect for arbitrary music being played. The research can reveal relationships between music and color from the perspective of frequency spectrum, promote the development of the color music, which has broad application prospects in urban landscape, stage lighting, and psychotherapy.

        Critical effects of long non-coding RNA on fibrosis diseases

        The expression or dysfunction of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) is closely related to various hereditary diseases, autoimmune diseases, metabolic diseases and tumors. LncRNAs were also recently recognized as functional regulators of fibrosis, which is a secondary process in many of these diseases and a primary pathology in fibrosis diseases. We review the latest findings on lncRNAs in fibrosis diseases of the liver, myocardium, kidney, lung and peritoneum. We also discuss the potential of diseaserelated lncRNAs as therapeutic targets for the clinical treatment of human fibrosis diseases.
