Overlapping Stents-Assisted Coiling for Vertebral Artery Dissecting Aneurysm : LVIS Stent within Neuroform EZ Stent

        Liu, Xing-Long,Wang, Bin,Zhao, Lin-Bo,Jia, Zhen-Yu,Shi, Hai-Bin,Liu, Sheng The Korean Neurosurgical Society 2022 Journal of Korean neurosurgical society Vol.65 No.4

Objective : To evaluate the safety and efficacy of an overlapped stenting-assisted coiling technique in treating vertebral artery dissecting aneurysm (VADA) via Low-profile Visualized Intraluminal Support (LVIS) stent-within-Neuroform EZ stent. Methods : From January 2017 to June 2019, 18 consecutive patients with VADAs (ruptured : unruptured=5 : 13) were treated with the overlapping stents assisted-coiling technique in our center. The overlapping manner was a Neuroform EZ stent being deployed first, followed by LVIS stents placement using the 'shelf' technique. The patients' clinical characteristics, technical feasibility and safety, and immediate and follow-up angiographic results were retrospectively reviewed. Results : Seventeen (94.4%) procedures were technically successful with an exact deployment of the stents and patent parent or perforator arteries. The immediate angiographies after procedure confirmed Raymond class I, II, and III occlusion of VADAs were in 12 (66.7%), two (11.1%), and four cases (22.2%), respectively. Post-procedural complications developed in one patient (5.6%) with minor brainstem infarctions, which resulted from an in-stent thrombosis during the procedure. Angiographic follow-up at 5.7 months (range 3 to 9 months) demonstrated Raymond class I and II occlusion were in all cases (100%). The modified Rankin Scale scores at 21.3 months (range 15 to 42 months) 0-2 in 17 cases (94.4%) and three in one case (5.6%). Conclusion : Overlapping stents via LVIS stent-within-Neuroform EZ stent combined with coiling is safe and effective for patients with VADA in the midterm results.

Probabilistic Evaluation of Progressive Collapse Resistance of Truss String Structures Considering Structural Uncertainties

        Wenhao Liu,Bin Zeng,Zhen Zhou,Yifan Zheng 한국강구조학회 2023 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.23 No.5

Truss string structures (TSSs) are often prone to the risk of progressive collapse owing to critical member failures in accidental events. Moreover, the randomness of material properties, cross-sectional dimensions, and construction errors can inevitably lead to fluctuations in the collapse resistance of structures. Thus, to avoid catastrophic collapse of TSSs, it is essential to investigate the resistance to progressive collapse of TSSs considering structural uncertainties. In this study, three limit states of TSSs under key member failures are defined. In addition, a probabilistic evaluation methodology for the progressive collapse resistance of single TSSs considering structural uncertainties is proposed and extended to spatial TSSs. The analysis reveals that the external load of single or spatial TSSs reaching different limit states due to cable failure is less than that of the failure of the bottom chord of the support. Furthermore, the fragility analysis shows that the progressive collapse resistance of TSSs exposed to the failure of the bottom chord of the support is greater than that of cable failure, the cable failure should be given more attention than the failure of the bottom chord of the support in the structural design and post-maintenance of TSSs. The sensitivity analysis indicates that the performance of single TSSs against progressive collapse is more sensitive to the variability of random parameters. In addition, the spatial effect can considerably enhance the performance of TSSs against progressive collapse when the bottom chord of the support fails, whereas the improvement is marginal when the cable fails.

Experimental study of cured dust layer structure parameters based on semantic segmentation

        Li Bin,Ji Zhongli,Mu Junfeng,Ren Yulin,Liu Zhen 한국화학공학회 2023 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.40 No.9

The structural properties of the dust layer, including its thickness, porosity, and particle size distribution, play a critical role in ensuring the high precision and long-term stability of filter elements. However, observing these properties is challenging due to the weak adherence and cohesiveness of the layer. To address this issue, atomization thermosetting glue was used to achieve pre-curing, and the entire dust layer was cured with epoxy resin. After the sample was frozen and fractured using liquid nitrogen, the boundaries of the dust particles became plainly visible. Traditional binarization techniques were insufficient in identifying the edges of the dust particles since the grayscale values of particles and their environment partially overlap. As a result, a deep learning model based on the DeeplabV3+ network architecture was used to identify particles in the dust layer and achieved an accuracy of 90.99%. The research reveals that pulse-jet cleaning can double the thickness of the local dust layer on adjacent filter elements. Additionally, the surface morphology of the filter element significantly impacts the shape and thickness of the dust layer, causing it to change dramatically. Uneven thickness of the dust layer can result in a higher number of dust particles passing through the filter element membrane.

Effect of surface roughness on the flotation separation of hematite from fine quartz

        Zhanglei Zhu,Zhen Li,Wanzhong Yin,Bin Yang,Ningning Zhang,Jinzhou Qu,Songjiang Chen,Jing Chang,Yuexian Yu,Lijun Liu 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.109 No.-

Although the effect of surface roughness on the floatability of a single mineral has been investigatedextensively, a systematic study for the effect of surface roughness on the flotation separation of differentminerals, e.g., flotation recovery, has never been dwelled. To fulfill this gap, in this study, the effect of surfaceroughness on the flotation separation of hematite from quartz was investigated with a series ofexperiments and detections. Micro-flotation experiments demonstrated that hematite particles withhigher roughness resulted in higher recoveries for both hematite and quartz, but the improvement ofhematite recovery was more significant, which promoted the flotation separation of hematite fromquartz with a higher separation index (SI). Adhesion force measurements revealed that after interactingwith 125 mg/L sodium oleate at pH 9, increasing nano-scaled roughness improved the hydrophobicity ofhematite surface, and reduced the adhesion force of water droplet on hematite surface. Scanning ElectronMicroscope – Energy Dispersive Spectrometer observations confirmed that increasing nano-scaled roughnessincreased the number of fine quartz particles coating on hematite surface. Combined with the analysisof adhesion of water droplet and observation of fine particles coating on hematite surface, the effectof surface roughness on minerals flotation separation could be better understood.

Endothelial Aquaporin-1 (AQP1) Expression Is Regulated by Transcription Factor Mef2c

        Jiang, Yong,Liu, He,Liu, Wen-jing,Tong, Hai-bin,Chen, Chang-jun,Lin, Fu-gui,Zhuo, Yan-hang,Qian, Xiao-zhen,Wang, Zeng-bin,Wang, Yu,Zhang, Peng,Jia, Hong-liang Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2016 Molecules and cells Vol.39 No.4

Aquaporin 1 (AQP1) is expressed in most microvasculature endothelial cells and forms water channels that play major roles in a variety of physiologic processes. This study aimed to delineate the transcriptional regulation of AQP1 by Mef2c in endothelial cells. Mef2c cooperated with Sp1 to activate human AQP1 transcription by binding to its proximal promoter in human umbilical cord vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). Over-expression of Mef2c, Sp1, or Mef2c/Sp1 increased HUVEC migration and tube-forming ability, which can be abolished AQP1 knockdown. These data indicate that AQP1 is a direct target of Mef2c in regulating angiogenesis and vasculogenesis of endothelial cells.

Plasma metabolites associated with physiological and biochemical indexes indicate the effect of caging stress on mallard ducks (Anas platyrhynchos)

        Zheng Chao,Wu Yan,Liang Zhen Hua,Pi Jin Song,Cheng Shi Bin,Wei Wen Zhuo,Liu Jing Bo,Lu Li Zhi,Zhang Hao 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.2

Objective: Cage rearing has critical implications for the laying duck industry because it is convenient for feeding and management. However, caging stress is a type of chronic stress that induces maladaptation. Environmental stress responses have been extensively studied, but no detailed information is available about the comprehensive changes in plasma metabolites at different stages of caging stress in ducks. We designed this experiment to analyze the effects of caging stress on performance parameters and oxidative stress indexes in ducks. Methods: Liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS) was used to determine the changes in metabolites in duck plasma at 5 (CR5), 10 (CR10), and 15 (CR15) days after cage rearing and traditional breeding (TB). The associated pathways of differentially altered metabolites were analyzed using Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) database. Results: The results of this study indicate that caging stress decreased performance parameters, and the plasma total superoxide dismutase levels were increased in the CR10 group compared with the other groups. In addition, 1,431 metabolites were detected. Compared with the TB group, 134, 381, and 190 differentially produced metabolites were identified in the CR5, CR10, and CR15 groups, respectively. The results of principal component analysis (PCA) show that the selected components sufficiently distinguish the TB group and CR10 group. KEGG analysis results revealed that the differentially altered metabolites in duck plasma from the CR5 and TB groups were mainly associated with ovarian steroidogenesis, biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids, and phenylalanine metabolism. Conclusion: In this study, the production performance, blood indexes, number of metabolites and PCA were compared to determine effect of the caging stress stage on ducks. We inferred from the experimental results that caging-stressed ducks were in the sensitive phase in the first 5 days after caging, caging for approximately 10 days was an important transition phase, and then the duck continually adapted. Zhou, Guo-Wei,Guo, Guo-Cong,Liu, Bin,Wang, Ming-Sheng,Cai, Li-Zhen,Huang, Jin-Shun Korean Chemical Society 2004 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.25 No.5

Complexes M($C_7H_2NO_5)3H_2O{\cdot}H_2O{\cdot}0.25MeCN$ (M=Ni, Co) were crystallized from the reactions of $Ni(CH_3COO)_2{\cdot}4H_2O\;or\;Co(CH_3COO)_2{\cdot}2H_2O$ with KSCN and 2,6-dicarboxy-4-hydroxypyridine (chelidamic acid). The structures were characterized by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 show a distorted octahedral coordination geometry around the M(II) ions, which are chelated by one nitrogen atom and two oxygen atoms of the chelidamic acid and three water molecules. Complexes 1 and 2 display the hydrogen-bonded 3D framework. The magnetic behavior of 2 exhibits antiferromagnetic interaction.
