The genus Erulipus Fairmaire, 1903 (previously in the subfamily Tenebrioninae, tribe Helopini), after the study of the type species (Erulipus fruhstorferi Fairmaire, 1903), is transferred to the genus Ainu Lewis, 1894 (subfamily Stenochiinae, the tribe Cnodalonini) as a subgenus. Consequently, two new combinations are established: Ainu (Erulipus) fruhstorferi (Fairmaire, 1903), comb. nov. and Ainu (s. str.) multicolor (Pic, 1927), comb. nov. The syntypes of Erulipus fruhstorferi and Erulipus multicolor Pic, 1927 are studied and the new synonym is proposed: Erulipus fruhstorferi = Ainu grandis Ren and Yuan, 2005, syn. nov. Two new species are described from China: Ainu linwenxini Nabozhenko & Ren, sp. nov. (Taiwan) and Ainu basifemoratum Nabozhenko & Ren, sp. nov. (Yunnan). Both the new species are closely related to A. sichuanum Ren and Yuan, 2015.

n recent years, concerns over the potential impact of synthetic pesticides on the environment have promoted the research and development of environmentally friendly “green” pesticides. In the current study, we utilized a green biomimetic insecticide, 1,5-bis- (5-nitro-2-furanyl)-1,4-pentadien-3-one (compound C), to examine its cytotoxicity on an insect cell line, Drosophila melanogaster (SL2). Results from MTT assay showed cells treated with 100 μM of compound C for 48 h significantly inhibited the growth of SL2 cells by 87.71±0.96%. We subsequently attempted to illustrate the act on mechanism of compound C at the cellular level and found that it initiated apoptosis through a mitochondrial-dependent mechanism that increased the activity of caspase-3 and altered the cell cycle. These results suggest that the green biomimetic insecticide, compound C, is a novel and potent inducer of insect cell apoptosis.
An Age- and Condition-Dependent Variable Weight Model for Performance Evaluation of Bridge Systems
Yuan Ren,Xiang Xu,Bin Liu,Qiao Huang 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.25 No.5
To address the balance problem between indexes within the performance evaluation of bridge systems, this paper develops an age- and condition-based variable weight model (ACVWM). First, the limitations of existing models used for the multi-layer weighted sum method, i.e., constant weight model (CWM) and condition-based variable weight model (CVWM), are presented through case studies, indicating that the weight variation is insufficient to characterize the deterioration law of components. Then, the definition of age-based variable weight is established following the existing concept of condition-based variable weight, which makes weights vary with service ages. Considering the characteristics of bridge assessment, an age-based variable weight model is built up to depict the time-variant trends of index weights with the service age. The variation law of age-based variable weight is discussed by using indexes in the superstructure of suspension bridges. As a result, the weights of replaceable and permanent components behave differently within the bridge service life. Finally, the ACVWM is built up and its effectiveness is verified through the same case studies applied to the CWM and CVWM. Compared with the evaluation results from the CWM and CVWM, the evaluation result of the ACVWM is more in line with the real maintenance strategy. Considering the CVWM in which low initial weights may lead to unsatisfactory weight assignment, the advantage of the proposed ACVWM lies in its capability to adjust initial weights over the service age.

For long-span bridges with a structural health monitoring (SHM) system, environmental temperature-driven responses are proved to be a main component in measurements. However, anomalous structural behavior may be hidden incomplicated recorded data. In order to receive reliable assessment of structural performance, it is important to study therelationship between temperature and monitoring data. This paper presents an application of the cointegration based methodology to detect anomalies that may be masked by temperature effects and then forecast the temperature-induced deflection (TID) of long-span suspension bridges. Firstly, temperature effects on girder deflection are analyzed with fieldmeasured data of a suspension bridge. Subsequently, the cointegration testing procedure is conducted. A threshold-based anomaly detection framework that eliminates the influence of environmental temperature is also proposed. The cointegrated residual series is extracted as the index to monitor anomaly events in bridges. Then, wavelet separation method is used to obtain TIDs from recorded data. Combining cointegration theory with autoregressive moving average (ARMA) model, TIDs for longspan bridges are modeled and forecasted. Finally, in-situ measurements of Xihoumen Bridge are adopted as an example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the cointegration based approach. In conclusion, the proposed method is practical for actual structures which ensures the efficient management and maintenance based on monitoring data.
POINT TRANSVERSALS TO TRANSLATES OF A TRAPEZOID
Yuan, Li-Ping,Ren, Ren 한국전산응용수학회 2004 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.15 No.1
An m-transversal to a family of convex sets in the plane is an m-point set which intersects every members of the family. One of Grubaum's conjectures says that a planar family of translates of a convex compact set has a 3-transversal provided that any two of its members intersect. Recently the conjecture has been proved affirmatively (see [4]). In the present paper we provide a different and straightforward proof for the conjecture for the family of translates of a closed trapezoid in the plane and give several concrete 3-transversals.

High integration, low loss and high-reliability are the main development trends of flywheel battery. Thus this study presents the first prototype of a novel high-integration four degrees of freedom (4-DOF) bearingless motor with the advantages of weak coupling and low power consumption. The proposed bearingless motor can realize energy conversion and produce 4-DOF radial forces compared with the conventional bearingless motor for improving the integration of system. A biased flux for producing radial levitation forces is provided by the permanent magnets, which reduce the power consumption of the system. Moreover, a decoupling between the torque and the suspension systems is realized through a structural design, thereby improving the controllability. Structure and winding configurations are introduced and the operation principle of the 4-DOF bearingless motor is discussed. Magnetic circuits analysis and parameter design method are present and a three-dimensional finite element model is established. Electromagnetic characteristics that focus on the high integration, low loss and high reliability are discussed and validated comprehensively. Finally, a favorable controllability of radial suspension forces are verified using finite-element analysis and some experimental results.

A novel proton exchange membrane which can be applied in the range of 25-140°C is prepared by incorporating phosphonic acid functionalized crosslinked siloxane in sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) matrix from amino trimethylene phosphonic acid (ATMP), epoxycyclohexylethyltrimethoxysilane (EHTMS), and sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK). EHTMS is introduced to chemically fix free ATMP as well as a cross-linker. And, the obtained membranes are immersed in deionized water to remove free ATMP. Fourier transform infrared and X-ray diffraction patterns suggest that ATMP is anchored into EHTMS and Si-O-Si network forms successfully. These membranes are thermally stable up to 220 °C and exhibit excellent dimensional stability and mechanical performance. The addition of ATMP not only increases the amount of proton transfer sites, but also provides proton transport units for membranes at elevated temperature and low relative humidity (RH) condition. The proton conductivity of AES-4 membrane reaches 0.114S cm-1 at 80 °C and 100%RH and 0.056 Scm-1 at 140 °C and 20%RH, respectively.
