        전통주 주박의 항혈전 활성 평가

        전통주 주박을 이용한 고부가가치 식품소재 개발을 위해, 상업적 시설에서 생산된 3종 약주(J-B, J-S, J-Y) 및 2종 탁주(J-H, J-W) 주박의 ethanol 추출물 및 열수 추출물을 조제하고 이들의 혈액응고 저해활성, 혈소판 응집저해 활성 및 인간 적혈구 용혈활성을 평가하였다. 5종 주박의 pH는 3.90~4.29로 유사하였으나, brix는 5.0~27.0으로 다양하게 나타났으며, 수분 및 알코올 함량에서도 시료에 따라 1.8배의 차이를 나타내었다. 주박의 색차와 성분은 첨가된 부재료 및 사용누룩에 좌우되었으며, J-W 주박의 경우 수분함량이 80.3%, brix 13, 알코올 함량 1.8%를 함유하여 다른 주박에 비해 다양한 식품제조에 용이하게 이용 가능하리라 판단되었다. Ethanol 추출효율은 J-H, J-W, J-B, J-S, J-Y의 순, 열수 추출효율은 J-S, J-B, J-W, J-H, J-Y의 순으로 높았으며, 총폴리페놀 및 총플라보노이드함량은 ethanol 추출물 중에서는 J-H, 열수 추출물 중에서는 J-Y 주박에서 가장 높았다. 5종 주박의 10종 추출물은 모두 5 mg/ml 농도까지 인간 적혈구에 대한 용혈활성이 나타나지 않았으며, J-B, J-S, J-Y의 약주 주박의 ethanol 추출물에서 유의적인 혈액응고저해 활성이 나타났으며, J-W 탁주 주박의 열수 추출물에서 thrombin 저해 활성과 J-B, J-S 및 J-H 주박 열수 추출물에서 혈액 응고인자 저해활성을 확인하였다. 혈소판 응집저해 활성평가의 경우 J-W 탁주 주박의 ethanol 및 열수 추출물에서만 아스피린에 필적하는 우수한 활성이 확인되었다. 본 연구결과는 다양한 약주 및 탁주 주박이 항혈전 활성을 가지고 있으며, 주박으로부터 항혈전제 개발이 가능함을 제시하고 있다. In this study, ethanol and hot water extracts of lees from Korean traditional wine (J-B, J-S, J-Y, J-H, and J-W) were prepared, and their effects on blood coagulation, platelet aggregation, and hemolysis of human red blood cells (hRBCs) were investigated to develop functional food ingredients from lees. The pH and brix of the lees ranged from 3.90 to 4.29 and 5.0 to 27.0o, respectively, and there was a huge difference in the water and ethanol content among the lees. The nuruk and additives used affected the color and physicochemical properties of lees. The J-W takju made from only rice and traditional nuruk, which has 13o brix and 1.8% of alcohol, has potential as functional food ingredient. With regard to the extraction yields of lees, higher yields were obtained from J-H, which contains different medicinal plants, in ethanol, followed by J-W, J-B, J-S, and J-Y. Higher extraction yields of lees were obtained from J-S in hot water, followed by J-B, J-W, J-H, and J-Y, respectively. The ethanol extract of J-H and the hot water extract of J-Y had the highest contents of total polyphenol and total flavonoids among the lees extracts. The 10 lees extracts did not show hemolysis activity against hRBCs up to 5 mg/ml. In an anticoagulation activity assay, the ethanol extracts of three yakju lees (J-B, J-S, and J-Y) and the hot water extract of J-W inhibited thrombin activity, whereas the hot water extract of J-B, J-S, and J-H inhibited blood coagulation factors. In an antiplatelet aggregation activity assay, only the J-W takju lees showed significant inhibition activity. Our results suggest that lees from traditional wine had high potential as a novel antithrombosis agent.

        Effect of Optimum Nutrient Management on Productivity and Nitrogen Balance in Rice Cultivation: A Review

        Given continuous needs for a public duty of agriculture and rural area, an effort to improve nutrient management in agricultural sector is strongly required. As a measure to solve these problems, Korean government (MAFRA) introduced the promotion policy called as “Agro-Environment Conservation Program (AECP)” in 2018 and has expanded 5 projet sites in 2019 from 3 in 2018. The program has a variety of agricultural activity to conserve soil, water, air, ecology and landscape. Of those, the nutrient input activity which is one of sub-activities is closely involved in not only crop productivity but also water quality and air pollution. Therefore, in order to lead a soft landing of AECP, it is essential to evaluate the conservation effects in a scientific point of view. In this respect, we focused on evaluating the effect of recommended nutrient input activities, standard fertilization and soil test fertilization, on rice productivity and nitrogen balance. The effect of nutrient management which is explained by rice yield and nitrogen balance was estimated with the combination of soil characteristics and rice varieties. Rice yield by recommended fertilization was 654 kg per 10a, 6% lower than control, but there was no statistical significance. By contrast, nitrogen balance was 4.7 kg lower, which means great improvement, in the recommended than the control. Conclusively, the recommended fertilization like soil test fertilization is expected to be useful as a measure to reduce nutrient balance, to ensure crop productivity, and finally to perform a public role of agriculture.

        Identification of determinants of the utilisation of acupuncture treatment using Andersen's behavioural model

        <P><B>Objectives</B></P><P>The utilisation of healthcare services is the result of a complex decision-making process with different determinants. This study aims to identify the determinants of the utilisation of acupuncture treatment using Andersen's behavioural model and quality of life.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>In this study we reviewed Korean Health Panel data, a nationally representative set of data, and analysed the utilisation of outpatient acupuncture services during 2011. A two-part model, which included predisposing, enabling and need factors of Andersen's behavioural model in model 1 and the additional factor of health-related quality of life (HRQOL, EQ-5D Korean index) in model 2, was analysed by logistic analysis to identify determinants of acupuncture service usage among subjects who visited traditional Korean medical clinics.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The higher frequency of acupuncture service usage among patients who visited traditional Korean medical clinics was associated with gender, age, number of chronic diseases, physical disabilities and HRQOL of the subjects.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>This study shows that the important determinants of the frequency of acupuncture treatment utilisation are gender, age, number of chronic diseases and the presence of physical disabilities. Our findings contribute to understanding the characteristics of patients who use acupuncture treatment and may be used as a basic resource for related policy making by government officials and medical professionals.</P>

        고구마 소주 주박의 항균 및 항혈전 활성

        Sweet potato soju (SPS), a form of traditional distilled alcoholic liquor in Korea, is manufactured by the distillation of fermented broth under normal pressure, thus providing it for a uniquely smooth taste infused with the flavor of sweet potato. After distillation, the lees of SPS is produced as by-product and discarded. In this study, the ethanol and hot water extracts of lees of SPS, and their subsequent organic solvent fractions using hexane, ethylacetate (EA), butanol, and water residue were prepared in an effort at the efficient re-use of the lees of SPS. The ethanol extraction yield was 1.36-fold higher than that of the hot water extraction, and the EA fraction revealed the highest total polyphenol content among the solvent fractions. The various extracts and solvent fractions did not demonstrate hemolytic activity at up to 0.5 mg/ml concentrations against human red blood cells. In the bio-activity assay, only the EA fraction displayed a broad spectrum of anti-microbial activity against different pathogenic and food spoilage bacteria, and demonstrated significant anti-coagulation activity by inhibitions of thrombin, prothrombin and blood coagulation factors. Furthermore, only the EA fraction from the hot water extract of the lees of SPS showed anti-platelet aggregation activity, which is comparable to aspirin (a commercially available drug). Our results suggest that the EA fraction of the hot water extract prepared from the lees of SPS has a high potential as a novel resource for anti-microbial and anti-thrombosis agents.

        Optimal Fertigation Guide for Greenhouse Strawberry: Development and Validation

        Development of a customized fertigation guide for greenhouse crops is a very important means to attain soil quality control as well as a favorable crop yield. In this study, we tried to develop and validate the fertigation guide of greenhouse strawberry using crop growth and NPK uptake rates by the specific growth stage. To achieve these goals, we firstly applied 4 different N levels based on soil-testing recommendation rates (SR) of Standard Fertilizer Recommendation: 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 and 1.5 times of SR. Phosphate and potassium were applied as much as the SR by the guide. Strawberry plants were cultivated from Sep., 2017 to May, 2018 with the density of 1.0 × 0.1 m. The growth and NPK uptake rates were estimated every 30 days from 30 days after transplanting (DAT) until final harvest. The growth rates (as expressed dry weight) were not significantly different between N treatments throughout the whole growth period. Soil nitrate-N contents at the final harvest stage showed significant difference between treatments; 1.5 times was the greatest and the others were similar to each other as much as the contents before transplanting. In order to validate effects of the newly developed fertigation guide, the yield was compared to soil-testing based fertigation rates and farmer’s practice, and was not significantly differed between both practices. On the other hand, the nutrient use efficiency was the greatest in the developed fertigation guide for both N and P due to the reduced fertilizer application. It implies that the growth rates-based variable application is a key consideration to make the fertigation guide of various greenhouse crops for sustainable cultivation.

        Analysis of Soil Total Nitrogen and Inorganic Nitrogen Content for Evaluating Nitrogen Dynamics

        Various methods for assessing soil total nitrogen (TN) and inorganic N content have been developed to manage nutrient and to understand N cycle in soil. This paper address the technical procedures in arable soil samples to conduct soil sampling, sample preparation, and measuring total N and inorganic N. Among various methods for measuring soil total nitrogen contents, Kjeldahl distillation and Indophenol blue method have widely used due to reliability and economic advances. Also, two methods can analyze more samples at the same time compared with other nitrogen measuring methods. For evaluating inorganic N content, mainly in forms of nitrate-N ($NO_3{^-}-N$) and ammonium-N ($NH_4{^+}-N$), extraction with a single reagent such as 2M KCl has been employed, followed by Kjeldahl distillation or indophenol blue methods.

        ACURATE: a Guide for Reporting Sham Controls in Trials Using Acupuncture

        This paper presents the Acupuncture Controls gUideline for Reporting humAn Trials and Experiments (ACURATE) checklist, an extension of The Consolidated Standards for Reporting of Trials (CONSORT), which is to be used with STandards for Reporting Interventions in Clinical Trials of Acupuncture (STRICTA) when real and sham acupuncture needles are used in a study. This checklist focuses on a clear depiction of sham needling procedures to enhance replicability and enable a precise appraisal. We encourage researchers to use ACURATE in trials and reviews involving sham acupuncture to assist in the reporting of sham acupuncture procedures and related components.
