A study on the Influencing Factors to China-Pakistan Trade under BRI Initiative
Jun Tang(Jun Tang),Xuanyu Xing(Xuanyu Xing),Tingting Huang(Tingting Huang) 아시아사회과학학회 2023 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.10 No.1
The Belt and Road Initiative is a grand plan proposed by China to promote the common development and prosperity of China and its partner countries. With the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the flagship of the Belt and Road Initiative, China-Pakistan relations are getting closer, known as the “iron brother”. Economic cooperation is a key priority for both sides. Under the context of the Belt and Road Initiative, this study uses trade data of China and Pakistan to find out the bilateral trade problems and the influencing factors behind them. This study will discuss the above questions and propose some suggestions for policymakers. Specifically, the discussion of the problems was conducted in terms of GDP, population, comparative advantages, international environment, domestic environment, and other factors respectively. In the conclusion part, the author suggests that the two countries should try to improve their domestic/international environment and reduce policy barriers to promote the trade. Modern industrial parks are encouraged to solve the problems. This study on the influencing factors and economic trade relations between China and Pakistan hopes to provide some academic references to the study of the CPEC and provide some guidance to the policy makers.

Recent clinical research has revealed that mechanical ventilation (MV) can initiate pulmonary fibrosis and induce mechanical ventilation-induced pulmonary fibrosis (MVPF). However, the underlying mechanism remains largely uncharacterized. Based on a mouse model of MVPF and an alveolar epithelial cell cyclic strain model, the present study explores the possible mechanism of MVPF. Single-cell RNA-sequencing and EV RNA-sequencing analysis revealed that MV promoted apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1)-mediated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress pathway activation and extracellular vesicle (EV) release from alveolar epithelial cells. Furthermore, the ASK1-ER stress pathway was shown to mediate mechanical stretch (MS)- or MV-induced EV release and lung fibroblast activation in vivo and in vitro. These processes were suppressed by ER stress inhibitors or by silencing ASK1 with ASK1- short hairpin RNA (shRNA). In addition, MVPF was suppressed by inhibiting ASK1 and ER stress in vivo. Therefore, the present study demonstrates that ASK1-ER stress pathway-mediated fibrotic-EV release from alveolar epithelial cells contributes to fibroblast activation and the initiation of pulmonary fibrosis during MV. The inhibited release of EVs targeting the ASK1-ER stress pathway might be a promising treatment strategy for MVPF.

We showed previously that daily gavage of Angelica gigas Nakai (AGN) root ethanolic extract starting 8 weeks of age inhibited growth of prostate epithelium and neuroendocrine carcinomas (NE-Ca) in the transgenic adenocarcinoma of mouse prostate (TRAMP) model. Because decursin (D) and its isomer decursinol angelate (DA) are major pyranocoumarins in AGN extract, we tested the hypothesis that D/DA represented active/prodrug compounds against TRAMP carcinogenesis. Three groups of male C57BL/6 TRAMP mice were gavage treated daily with excipient vehicle, AGN (5 mg per mouse), or equimolar D/DA (3 mg per mouse) from 8 weeks to 16 or 28 weeks of age. Measurement of plasma and NE-Ca D, DA, and their common metabolite decursinol indicated similar retention from AGN versus D/DA dosing. The growth of TRAMP dorsolateral prostate (DLP) in AGN- and D/DA-treated mice was inhibited by 66% and 61% at 16 weeks and by 67% and 72% at 28 weeks, respectively. Survival of mice bearing NE-Ca to 28 weeks was improved by AGN, but not by D/DA. Nevertheless, AGN- and D/DA-treated mice had lower NE-Ca burden. Immunohistochemical and mRNA analyses of DLP showed that AGN and D/DA exerted similar inhibition of TRAMP epithelial lesion progression and key cell-cycle genes. Profiling of NE-Ca mRNA showed a greater scope of modulating angiogenesis, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, invasion–metastasis, and inflammation genes by AGN than D/DA. The data therefore support D/DA as probable active/prodrug compounds against TRAMP epithelial lesions, and they cooperate with non-pyranocoumarin compounds to fully express AGN efficacy against NE-Ca. Cancer Prev Res; 8(9); 835–44. ©2015 AACR.

Recently, the main therapy of medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) is surgical, but by which way there is a poor prognosis with a mean survival of only 5 years. In some cases, some researchers found that it is the medullary thyroid cancer stem cells (MTCSCs) that cause metastasis and recurrence. This study aimed to eradicate MTCSCs through administration of all-trans-retinoic acid (ATRA). Here we demonstrate that MTCSCs possess stemlike properties in serum-free medium. The ABCG2, OCT4 and sodium iodide symporter (NIS) were changed by ATRA. Additionally, we found that ATRA can increase the expression of NIS in vivo. All the data suggested that ATRA could increase the iodine uptake of MTCSCs through NIS.

Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) ecdysteroid UDP-glucosyltransferase gene (egt) promoter fragments of different lengths were amplified from BmNPV ZJ-8 genomic DNA by PCR. Reporter plasmids pBmegt542-luc, pBmegt309-luc and pBmegt159- luc with luciferase (luc) driven by egt promoters were constructed. Both in vitro and in vivo expressions showed that BmNPV egt promoter activity requires the transactivation of viral factor(s), and expression of luc was detected earliest at 24 hrs post infection (pi). BmNPV ZJ-8 homologous region 3 (hr3) increased the expression of luc by over 1,600-fold. Molting hormone of 1.0 ~ 2.0 mg/ml can dramatically down regulate expression of luc. Juvenile hormone analogue of 0.5 ~ 2.0 mg/ml increased expression of luc by 145.8% to 75.7%. Deletion assay revealed that the promoter fragment of 159 bp contains the basal promoter structure; Promoter fragments of 309 bp and 542 bp showed similar but much higher transcriptional activities than that of 159 bp, suggesting that nucleotide from -159 to -309 nt upstream the translation initiation site harbors the main cis-acting elements.

Background: There is no consensus regarding the selection of treatment options for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after initial transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). This meta-analysis aimed to explore the survival benefit of hepatic resection after initial TACE for the treatment of HCC. Materials and Methods: We searched three major databases to identify all relevant papers comparing the outcomes of hepatic resection after initial TACE versus TACE alone for the treatment of HCC. Hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were calculated to evaluate the survival benefit of hepatic resection after initial TACE over TACE alone. Results: Three of 2037 initially identified papers were included. All of them were cohort studies from Asia. There was a significantly better overall survival (OS) in patients undergoing hepatic resection after initial TACE than in those undergoing TACE alone (HR=0.63, 95%CI=0.52-0.76, P<0.00001). The heterogeneity among studies was not statistically significant (P=0.96; I2=0%). Conclusions: Hepatic resection could improve the OS of HCC patients treated with initial TACE. Further randomized controlled trials should be necessary to identify the target population for the sequential use of hepatic resection after initial TACE and to compare the outcomes between patients undergoing hepatic resection after initial TACE session versus those undergoing TACE alone.
