Background : To understand Korean medicine it is crucial to first understand medical aspect of ‘DongUiBoGam’. It is also meaningful that it became one of the influential book even to posterity. Also based on the apprehension, we can take a view of development of Korean medicine led by ‘DongUiBoGam’. Objectives : This study aims to review the status, study field, specialist of DongUiBoGam. In the process, this review will grasp trends in this field of studies and will direct further researches into the right direction. Method : The computerized Korean databases were searched from their respective inceptions up to December 2008. The search terms used were ‘DongUiBoGam’ and random or Korean language terms related to DongUiBoGam. Several specialized journals were also manually searched for relevant articles. Result : Since the 2000s, DongUiBoGam papers in the Korean Literature is increased. Published 58 papers on The Korean Journal of Oriental Medical Prescription were more than the other journals. 58 papers published in The Korean Journal of Oriental Medical Prescription are the best in many areas related to Korean medicine. Most people have submitted papers related to DongUiBoGam was Woo-yeal Jeong. Conclusions : ‘DongUiBoGam’ research is conducted and current tendency and outlook for ‘DongUiBoGam’ is carried out focusing on several associations.

Nutritional and physicochemical properties of new giant embryo mutant rice (YR23517Acp79, YR) were analyzed. YR exhibited increased total protein (9.3±0.3%), lipid (3.7±1.1%), amino acid (663.28±1.9 mg/g), and mineral contents (Ca=284.0±6.2, Mg=1417.5±13.6 mg/kg). In YR brown rice four major physicochemicals, including gamma-aminobutyric acid (brown rice= 0.46±0.014mg/g), γ-oryzanol (0.43±0.021 mg/g), vitamin B1 (6.42±0.3 mg/kg), and tocopherols (alpha=2.68±0.1, beta=0.11±0.01, gamma=0.05±0.001 mg/100 g) increased in comparison to reported giant embryo (Keunnunbyeo, KB) and normal embryo rice (Ilmibyeo, IB). YR showed higher scavenging activities against 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (0.2 g/mL=57.1±2.25) and 2,2'-Azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (0.2 g/mL=50.2±1.45) radicals but also inhibited lipopolysaccharide-induced nitric oxide production without cytotoxicity. These results indicate YR is a high quality functional rice due to its high nutrition content and antioxidant effects of physicochemicals.
Case Report : Femoral Nerve Palsy with Patella Fracture

Femoral neuropathy may be associated with various etiologies and can cause severe walking disability. We present the case of a 25-year-old woman who underwent surgical repair for a patella fracture and complained of lower extremity pain, paresthesia, and weakness postoperatively. Electromyography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed partial peripheral neuropathy of the left femoral nerve associated with the patella fracture. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of femoral neuropathy associated with a patella fracture.
Formability Enhancement of Al-Mg Sheet by Using Hydro-Mechanical Forming

<P>Hydro-mechanical forming of Al sheet was investigated in the present study in order to fabricate automotive part having a complicated shape using Al 5052 alloy with a conventional formability which has been known to be quite lower compared to deep drawing steels. We have designed the hydro-mechanical forming in which Al sheet was drawn to a kind of preform step following gas blow forming for final accurate geometry. In order to judge a formability enhancement of Al sheet in terms of forming process, model geometry came from a practical automotive part which had quite depth with complicated curvatures, which was proven that a single sheet forming could not gave a successful part. Experimentally, we succeeded to make the model part with accurate dimension. The optimum forming conditions for respective forming steps were considered most important technical features of this hydro-mechanical. Also, the effort to avoid detrimental microstructure evolutions was given and discussed for a practical application.</P>

Background In postaxial polysyndactyly of the foot, the choice of which toe to excise is controversial. It is often treated by resection of the fifth toe to save the lateral neurovascular bundles of the sixth toe. However, the sixth toe is often short and laterally deviated, which may require wedge osteotomy, potentially shortening the phalanx and compromising circulation. This study outlines an individualized method to spare the length and axis of the fifth toe in polysyndactyly with a short and deviated sixth toe. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 38 patients who underwent surgery between 2006 and 2019. The fifth toe was spared in 18 cases, and the sixth toe in 20 cases. The ratios of the forefoot width, angle difference, and toe length were compared between the affected and unaffected sides postoperatively. Complications and subjective judgments on cosmetic results were recorded and compared. Results No significant between-group differences were observed for sex, age at surgery, or the follow-up period. The forefoot width ratio did not significantly differ between the groups. However, the angle difference and toe length ratios showed significantly better results in the fifth toe-spared group than in the sixth toe-spared group (P<0.05 and P<0.01, respectively). There were no cases of impaired circulation, and subjective evaluations revealed satisfactory results in the fifth toe-spared group. Conclusions In cases with short and deviated sixth toes, sparing the fifth toe is an effective method of cosmetic treatment. The surgical results were satisfactory, with an improved appearance and no residual deformities.
