        In Situ Synthesis and Strengthening of Powder Metallurgy High Speed Steel in Addition of LaB6

        A novel technology which was characterized by the vacuum solid state sintering was developed for powder metallurgyhigh speed steels production. During sintering, both the WC and Mo2C reacted with Fe and transformed toW and Mo rich M6C carbides which were the common hard phases in high speed steels. Also, a high number of W,Mo and Fe were dissolved in VC, forming the MC carbides. The densification of the material mainly relied on thesolubility effect during the M6C and MC carbides formation. By alloying with a 0.1 wt% of LaB6 to the steel, thebending strength and the fracture toughness were improved from 3290 MPa and 25.6 MPam1/2to 4018 MPa and29.4 MPam1/2, respectively. The TEM analysis demonstrated three types of reaction products by the LaB6 addition:the amorphous phase, the core-shell structure and the La2O3 phase. The impurity elements such as the Mg, Al,Si, S, Ca, and O were absorbed following the LaB6 addition. Moreover, the deoxidization effect caused by the LaB6addition promoted the sintering at a high-temperature period which contributed to the bending strength and fracturetoughness improvement.

      • Lithospheric velocity structure of the northeast margin of the Tibetan Plateau: Relevance to continental geodynamics and seismicity

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We provide teleseismic constraints on the continental collision zone along the SW-NE profile from the Tibetan Plateau to the Alxa block, traversing Lenglong Ling, a topographic boundary of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. Our seismic profile crosses the Qilian Shan thrust belt, a zone of intense earthquake activity that includes a pair of <I>M</I> <SUB>W</SUB> 5.9 earthquakes (in 1986 and 2016) with a 30-year time interval occurring at the city of Menyuan near Lenglong Ling. A high degree of similarity between the two waveforms and their similar hypocenters indicate that the two events are repeating earthquakes. Both <I>P</I>- and <I>S</I>-wave receiver functions show contrasting lithospheric structure and crustal seismic properties across the repeating earthquake region, suggesting that Lenglong Ling can be the crustal boundary between the Tibetan Plateau and the Alxa block. High-frequency <I>P</I> receiver functions clearly show a SW-dipping underthrusted upper crust beneath the foreland of the Qilian Shan thrust belt. A strong low-velocity feature above the intracrustal underthrust beneath southwest Lenglong Ling indicates a mechanically weak zone developed coeval with the main compressional deformation during the last major tectonic event. Our observed, localized upper-crustal deformation beneath Lenglong Ling can be direct evidence of the lateral growth of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau, and can control the seismicity of the Qilian Shan thrust belt, including the Menyuan repeating earthquakes.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Two <I>M</I> <SUB>W</SUB> 5.9 repeating events occurred in NE Tibetan Plateau with a 30-year interval. </LI> <LI> Lithospheric structures across the source area are imaged with receiver functions. </LI> <LI> Contrasting <I>H</I> and <I>κ</I> with SW-dipping upper crust are observed beneath Lenglong Ling. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Overlay Multicast Update Strategy Based on Perturbation Theory

        The change of any element in the network is possible to cause performance degradation of the multicast network. So it is necessary to optimize the topology path through the multicast update strategy, which directly affects the performance and user experience of the overlay multicast. In view of the above, a new multicast tree update strategy based on perturbation theory Musp (Multicast Update Strategy based on Perturbation theory) is proposed, which reduces the data transmission interruption caused by the multicast tree update and improves user experiences. According to the multicast tree`s elements performance and the topology structure, the Musp strategy defines the multicast metric matrix and based on the matrix perturbation theory it also defines the multicast fluctuation factor. Besides it also demonstrates the calculability of the multicast fluctuation factor presents the steps of the Musp algorithm and calculates the complexity. The experimental results show that compared with other update strategies, as for the sensitivity of the multicast fluctuation factor`s energized multicast tree to the network disturbance, the maximum delay of the Musp update strategy is minimal in the case of the local degradation of network performance.

        Two-stage concession game approach for analyzing greenhouse gases emission reduction schemes

        Climate change imposes a huge treat on the sustainability of our environment. One of the major reasons for the increasing impacts of climate change is the emission of greenhouse gases. Therefore, cooperative greenhouse gas emission reduction schemes with a general consensus are needed in order to reduce the impacts of climate change. Due to the strong link between greenhouse gas emission and economic development there is disagreement among countries on the designing and implementation of emission reduction plans. In this paper the authors proposed a two-stage concession game to analyze emission reduction plans and determine a balanced emission range that improves the utilities of the bargaining parties. Furthermore the game was applied to a hypothetical example. Our results from the case study indicated that even though the utilities of the bargaining parties is highly affected by emission reductions, after making concessions their utilities can be improved given their emission reductions are within in a certain desirable range. The authors hope that this article provides insights which could be useful for understanding emission reduction plans and their consequences on the negotiating parties.

        Recent advances in feed and nutrition of beef cattle in China — A review

        The beef cattle industry in China has advanced remarkably since its reform and opening up; consequently, China has become the world’s third-largest beef cattle producer. China is also one of the countries with the most substantial research input and output in the field of beef cattle feed and nutrition. The progress and innovation by China in the research field of beef cattle feed and nutrition have undoubtedly promoted the development of the domestic beef cattle industry. This review summarizes recent advances in feed resource development, nutrient requirements, and nutritional regulation of beef cattle in China. Limitations in current research and perspectives on future work are also discussed.
