In the present study, rutile phase titanium dioxide nanoparticles (R-TiO 2 NPs) were prepared by hydrolysis of titanium tetrachloride in an aqueous solution followed by calcination at 900℃. The composition of R-TiO 2 NPs was determined by the analysis of X-ray diffraction data, and the characteristic features of R-TiO 2 NPs such as the surface functional group, particle size, shape, surface topography, and morphological behavior were analyzed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, and zeta potential measurements. The average size of the prepared R-TiO2 NPs was 76 nm, the surface area was 19 m 2 /g, zeta potential was −20.8 mV, and average hydrodynamic diameter in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)–H 2 O solution was 550 nm. The 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay and morphological observations revealed that R-TiO 2 NPs were cytocompatible with oral cancer cells, with no inhibition of cell growth and proliferation. This suggests the efficacy of R-TiO 2 NPs for the aesthetic white pigmentation of teeth.
Economic Cooperation in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region
Binh Hai Le,Dang Quyen Nguyen,Kieu Trang Vu,Hiep Ngoc Luu,Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary 세종대학교 경제통합연구소 2020 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.35 No.2
This paper investigates the impact of regional economic cooperation between Vietnam and its partners during the 2000-2015 period, focusing on the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS). Overall, the GMS represents a significant portion of Vietnam’s trade portfolio. China is the dominant trading partner in the GMS, exhibiting strong influence over Vietnam’s trade, especially its imports. However, using the gravity model of trade, we find that Vietnam has not benefited from GMS cooperation, as exemplified by its significant trade deficit, particularly with China. We further find that human capital enhancement and financial development are key factors to facilitate Vietnam’s trade, and mitigate its trade deficit with other GMS member countries. To this end, this study provides some important policy implications for the Vietnamese government as well as policymakers in other countries, when trading with larger partners in the context of regional economic cooperation.

Using a ceramic target ZnO:In with In doping concentration of 2%, hetero-junctions of n-ZnO:In/p-Si and p-ZnO:(In, N)/n-Si were fabricated by depositing Indium doped n - type ZnO (ZnO:In or IZO) and Indium-nitrogen co-doped p - type ZnO (ZnO:(In, N)) films on wafers of p-Si (100) and n-Si (100) by DC magnetron sputtering, respectively. These films with the best electrical and optical properties were then obtained. The micro-structural, optical and electrical properties of the n-type and p-type semiconductor thinfilms were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), RBS, UV-vis; four-point probe resistance and room-temperature Hall effect measurements, respectively. Typical rectifying behaviors of p-n junction were observed by the current-voltage (I-V) measurement. It shows fairly good rectifying behavior with the fact that the ideality factor and the saturation current of diode are n=11.5, Is=1.5108.10-7 (A) for n-ZnO:In/p-Si hetero-jucntion; n=10.14, Is=3.2689.10-5 (A) for p-ZnO:(In, N)/n-Si, respectively. These results demonstrated the formation of a diode between n-type thin film and p-Si, as well as between p-type thin film and n-Si..
A Design of Magnetic Resonant Wireless Power Transfer System using Flexible Resonator Coils
Manh Kha Hoang,Xuan Thuc Kieu,Xuan Thanh Pham,Trung Kien Vu,Thanh Son Pham 한국자기학회 2023 Journal of Magnetics Vol.28 No.3
This paper presents a design of magnetic resonant wireless power transfer (MR-WPT) system operating at 6.78 MHz with flexible resonator coils. The resonator coils are fabricated on an FR-4 substrate with a very thin thickness of 0.2 mm; therefore, they can be bent at various angles. With the bendable resonator coils, the configuration of the MR-WPT system will be more flexible, thereby increasing the applicability. However, the inductance, resistance, quality factor, and mutual inductance of the coils will be changed with the bending angle, thereby affecting the performance of the MR-WPT system. Detailed investigations of these changes were conducted by both simulation and experiment. Thus MR-WPT systems with flexible resonators can be designed for optimum performance. This proposed MR-WPT system can be applied in situations where system configuration requires high flexibility. Moreover, a bent resonator system can perform better than a flat resonator system in the inward bending configuration.

Background and Purpose Dravet syndrome is a rare and severe type of epilepsy in infants. The heterogeneity in the overall intellectual disability that these patients suffer from has been attributed to differences in genetic background and epilepsy severity. Methods Eighteen Vietnamese children diagnosed with Dravet syndrome were included in this study. SCN1A variants were screened by direct sequencing and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification. Adaptive functioning was assessed in all patients using the Vietnamese version of the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, and the results were analyzed relative to the SCN1A variants and epilepsy severity. Results We identified 13 pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants, including 6 that have not been reported previously. We found no correlations between the presence or type of SCN1A variants and the level of adaptive functioning impairment or severity of epilepsy. Only two of nine patients aged at least 5 years had an adaptive functioning score higher than 50. Both of these patients had a low frequency of convulsive seizures and no history of status epilepticus or prolonged seizures. The remaining seven had very low adaptive functioning scores (39 or less) despite the variability in the severity of their epilepsy confirming the involvement of factors other than the severity of epilepsy in determining the developmental outcome. Conclusions Our study expands the spectrum of known SCN1A variants and confirms the current understanding of the role of the genetic background and epilepsy severity in determining the developmental outcome of Dravet syndrome patients.

Objective: The rapid and reliable detection of the African swine fever virus (ASFV) plays an important role in emergency control and preventive measures of ASF. Some methods have been recommended by FAO/OIE to detect ASFV in clinical samples, including real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). However, mismatches in primer and probe binding regions may cause a false-negative result. Here, a slight modification in probe sequence has been conducted to improve the qualification of real-time PCR based on World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) protocol for accurate detection of ASFV in field samples in Vietnam. Methods: Seven positive confirmed samples (four samples have no mismatch, and three samples contained one mutation in probe binding sites) were used to establish novel real-time PCR with slightly modified probe (Y = C or T) in comparison with original probe recommended by OIE. Results: Both real-time PCRs using the OIE-recommended probe and novel modified probe can detect ASFV in clinical samples without mismatch in probe binding site. A high correlation of cycle quantification (Cq) values was observed in which Cq values obtained from both probes arranged from 22 to 25, suggesting that modified probe sequence does not impede the qualification of real-time PCR to detect ASFV in clinical samples. However, the samples with one mutation in probe binding sites were ASFV negative with OIE recommended probe but positive with our modified probe (Cq value ranked between 33.12-35.78). Conclusion: We demonstrated for the first time that a mismatch in probe binding regions caused a false negative result by OIE recommended real-time PCR, and a slightly modified probe is required to enhance the sensitivity and obtain an ASF accurate diagnosis in field samples in Vietnam.

Do Quang Minh,Tran Van Khai,Huynh Ngoc Minh,Nguyen Vu Uyen Nhi,Kieu Do Trung Kien 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2021 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.22 No.2
Rice husk is a waste product of agricultural production of rice. Every year, the agricultural production of Vietnam emits about10 million tons of rice husks. Rice husks are usually treated by burning method or discharged into rivers, causing manynegative impacts on the environment. In this study, the rice husk/silica gel ratio components were investigated to form SiC/SiO2-C composite in a CO2 environment at 1000 oC for 60 min. The products after pyrolysis were determined SiC, SiO2, andfree C contents according to ISO 21068-2: 2008 standards. The functional groups and mineral composition of composites wereanalyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The microstructure and elementdistribution of them were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) mapping. Theresults showed that the optimum rice husk/silica gel ratio to form SiC/SiO2-C was 1.4/1. The sample after pyrolysis hadchemical composition including 14% SiC, 63% SiO2, 23% free C (%wt.) and the phase composition including amorphouscarbon, β-SiC, 6H-SiC, 4H-SiC, cristobalite. Composite SiC/SiO2-C can apply to advanced friction systems. This can be seenas an effective method to treat rice husk waste and improved the economic value of rice plants.
