Charge carrier dynamics in PffBT4T-2OD: PCBM organic solar cells

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We investigate the charge carrier dynamics of inverted organic solar cells (OSCs) based on PffBT4T-2OD: PCBM and PTB7: PCBM – the two leading systems among the OSCs based on polymer-fullerene bulk-heterojunction – to elucidate the origin of their performance difference. Transient absorption spectroscopy (TAS) and photo-electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (photo-EIS) were employed to unravel the photo-physics that govern the cell operation of these two highly efficient bulk heterojunction OSCs. While photo-EIS indicates that the two systems under study exhibit similar behavior in terms of recombination, TAS results reveal that PffBT4T-2OD: PCBM systems not only have higher charge generation rate but also more efficient charge transfer than PTB7: PCBM systems, leading to the power conversion efficiency of PffBT4T-2OD: PCBM-based OSCs (9.16%) that is higher than that of PTB7: PCBM-based OSCs (6.44%).</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Charge carrier dynamics of PffBT4T-2OD: PCBM and PTB7: PCBM OSCs have been compared. </LI> <LI> TAS and Photo-EIS measurements along with optical simulation were carried out. </LI> <LI> Higher PCE for PffBT4T-2OD: PCBM OSCs is due to better absorption and carrier collection efficiency. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Importance of Imidazolidinone Motif in 4-Phenyl-N-arylsulfonylimidazolidinone for their Anticancer Activity

To investigate the possible isosteric replacement of imidazolidinone moiety in 4-phenyl-N-arylsulfonylimidazolidinone for broad and potent anticancer agents, a series of 4-phenyl-l(N)-arylsulfonylimidazolidinones 6ak,imidazolidinethione analogs 7a-i, and imidazolidine oxime analogs 8a-c were prepared and evaluated for their in vitro anticancer activity against four human cancer cell lines (human lung A549, human colon COLO205, human leukemia K562, human ovary SK-OV-3). Among all the derivatives of N-arylsulfonylimidazolidinone 6a-k, compounds 6f and 6g showed the best inhibition comparable to doxorubicin against all cancer cell lines. Increasing the carbon chain on alkyl moieties of carbamates as shown in 6c-g did not alter the activity. The imidazolidinethione analogs 7a-i and imidazolidin-2-one oxime derivatives 8a-c did not possess any good activity. Therefore, imidazolidinone moiety is the best pharmacophore among the 4-phenyl-Narylsulfonylimidazolidinone derivatives.

This paper is demonstrative of values and the imbibed strength of values observed along the value chains of organizations studied by the authors in past two years. The paper is projective of an intense relationship of values based business ethics observed along the value chains of the organizations concerned with the context and the soul of the conventional definition of marketing given by American Marketing Association in 2007. The value chain of a prominent consumer product’s marketers studied through reflexive research approach exemplifies that how business ethics based on values helped in evolving activities, institutions and processes for creating, communicating, delivering and exchanging offerings that have value for the customers, clients, partners and society at large which is actually the definition of marketing be American Marketing Association: Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large. (Approved July 2013) Similar observations in the value chains and the marketing process of other organizations validated the fact that if values driven business ethics is followed along the value chain the context of 2007 definition of Marketing gets enlivened.

MODELLING THE DRIVERS FOR RURAL (EMERGING) MARKETS: A CASE OF INDIA

Rural markets, especially in countries like India hold strong potential as emerging markets. The aim of this paper is to identify and analyse factors acting as drivers for companies to enter and serve rural markets and also to identify interrelationships among them along with their driver and dependence power, with special reference to India. A total of 13 enablers were identified on the basis of focused group discussions and interviews with experts from academics and industry. An interpretative structural modelling (ISM) and fuzzy MICMAC analysis were used to identify levels of hierarchical relationship among the drivers. The findings show that government policies and regulations are some of the most important drivers in rural markets.

Bile duct injury during laparoscopic cholecystectomy: An Indian e-survey

Backgrounds/Aims: In the absence of national registry of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) or its complications, it is impossible to determine incidence of bile duct injury (BDI) in India. We conducted an e-survey among practicing surgeons to determine prevalence and management patterns of BDI in India. Our hypothesis was that majority of surgeons would have experienced a BDI during LC despite large experience and that most surgeons who have a BDI tend to manage it themselves. Methods: An 18-question e-survey of practicing laparoscopic surgeons in India was done. Results: 278/727 (38%) surgeons responded. 240/278 (86%) respondents admitted to a BDI during LC and 179/230 (78%) affirmed to more than one BDI. A total of 728 BDIs were reported. 36/230 (15%) respondents experienced their first BDI even after >10 years of practice and 40% had their first BDI even after having performed >100 LCs. 161/201 (80%) of the respondents decided to manage the BDI themselves, including 56/99 (57%) non-biliary surgeons and 44/82 (54%) surgeons working in non-biliary center. 37/201 (18%) respondents admitted to having a mortality arising out of a BDI; the mortality rate of BDI was 37/728 (5%) in this survey. Only 13/201 (6%) respondents have experienced a medico-legal case related to a BDI during LC. Conclusions: Prevalence of BDI is high in India and occurs despite adequate experience and volume. Even inexperienced non-biliary surgeons working in non-biliary centers attempt to repair the BDI themselves. BDI is associated with significant mortality but litigation rates are fortunately low in India.

Synthesis of Water Soluble Analogs of Arylsulfonylimidazolidinone (JSH-2282)

To improve the water solubility of arylsulfonylimidazolidinone (JSH-2282), a potent anti-cancer agent, two urea derivatives, sodium (S)-2-(3-(4-(5-((S)-2-oxo-4-phenylimidazolidin-1-ylsulfonyl)indoline-1-carbonyl)- phenyl)ureido)succinate (2a) and sodium (S)-2-(3-(4-(5-((S)-2-oxo-4-phenylimidazolidin-1-ylsulfonyl)indoline- 1-carbonyl)phenyl)ureido)pentanedioate (2b), were synthesized and studied for solubility and anti-cancer activity.

India's RCEP Dilemma with China: Beyond the Legal Texts

The ASEAN‐inaugurated Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) was eventually concluded on 15 November 2020 after 8 years of tough negotiations. India was counted as an important member of the RCEP, but it chose to back out when other members were finalizing the RCEP legal text. This article critically analyzes the relevant legal provisions leading to India's withdrawal from this significant mega trade deal, the reasons behind India's refusal of those provisions, the possibility of isolationism India might face, and geopolitical changes in Sino–India relations post stand‐off on the Galwan Valley as well as the COVID‐19 pandemic. It argues that unbalanced economic relations, India's self‐reliant ideology, as well as China's growing hegemony in the Asia‐Pacific region are among the principle factors for India to back out from the RCEP. However, the door to participate in the future remains open for India.

Actinobacteria from Cow Feces: Isolation, Identification and Screening for Industrially Important Secondary Metabolites

Actinobacterial strains isolated from Cow feces were studied for their antifungal attributes against phytopathogens and industrially important enzymes. A total of 30 Actinobacterial strains were obtained from 10 samples of cow feces. All the strains were belonging to the genera Streptomyces on the basis of morphological and chemotaxonomic analysis. During preliminary screening, out of 30 strains, 15 strains (50%) showed antifungal activity against five fungal phytopathogens including Aspergillus niger, Fusarium solani, Fusarium oxysporum, Macrophomina phaseolina and Rhizoctonia solani. While, isolate GBTCF-26 was found to be most active against R. solani with 62.2% inhibition of fungal mycelium, GBTCF-09 was prominent against F. solani and F. oxysporum with percent inhibition of 61.1% and 58.8%, respectively. Out of 30 strains, 19 (63.3%), 16 (53.3%), 11 (36.7%), 10 (33.3%), 4 (13.3%) and 8 (26.7%) strains were producing amylase, caseinase, gelatinase, lipase, chitinase and cellulose, respectively. The selected strains, GBTCF-09, GBTCF- 21 and GBTCF-26, were identified as Streptomyces sp. on the basis of their 16S rDNA sequence. The study supports the idea that the Actinobacteria from unique niches (Cow feces) possess the production potential of industrially important enzymes including bioactive molecules.

Study on IL-5 Inhibitory Activity of Novel Chromenone Derivatives

A novel series of chromenone analogs were synthesized and evaluated for their inhibitory activity against interleukin-5. Among them compounds 5-(cyclohexylmethoxy)-N-(4-hydroxy-3-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl)-4-oxo-4H-chromene-3-carboxamide (8e, 54% inhibition at 30 μM) and ethyl 3-(5-(cyclohexylmethoxy)- 4-oxo-4H-chromene-3-carboxamido)benzoate (8g, 62% inhibition at 30 μM) showed the most potent activity. The SAR activity of these chromenones indicated that the bulky substituents at ring B increases the inhibition against IL-5 though none of the compound showed potent inhibition. The reason for less activity of the chromenones 8a-h may be due to the rigidity of amine linkage.
