Backgrounds/Aims: Hepatolithiasis and choledocholithiasis are frequent pathologies and unfortunately, with the current treatment strategies, the recurrence incidence is still high. This study aimed to assess the outcomes of laparoscopic choledochotomy using cholangioscopy via the percutaneous-choledochal tube for the treatment of hepatolithiasis and choledocholithiasis in Vietnamese patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study of patients with hepatolithiasis and/or choledocholithiasis who underwent laparoscopic choledochotomy using intraoperative cholangioscopy via percutaneous-choledochal tube at the Department of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, 108 Military Central Hospital, from June 2017 to March 2020. Results: A total of 84 patients were analyzed. Most patients were females (56.0%) with a median age of 55.56 years. Among them, 41.8% of patients had previous abdominal operations, with 33.4% having choledochotomy. All patients underwent successful laparoscopic common bile duct exploration followed by T-tube drainage without needing to convert to open surgery. Most patients (64.3%) had both intrahepatic and extrahepatic stones. The rate of stones ≥ 10 mm in diameter was 64.3%. Biliary strictures were observed in 19.1% of patients during cholangioscopy. Complete removal of stones was achieved in 54.8% of patients. Intraoperative complications were encountered in two patients, but there was no need to change the strategy. The mean operating time was 121.85 ± 30.47 minutes. The early postoperative complication rate was 9.6%, and all patients were managed conservatively. The residual stones were removed through the T-tube tract by subsequent choledochoscopy in 34/38 patients, so the total success rate was 95.2%. Conclusions: Laparoscopic choledochotomy combined with cholangioscopy through the percutaneous-choledochal tube is a safe and effective strategy for hepatolithiasis and/or choledocholithiasis, even in patients with a previous choledochotomy.

In recent years, much interest has been devoted to bio-fuels because of their beneficial effects on environment, agriculture and economic development. Raw vegetable oil – a kind of bio-fuels, still exits many downsides, is potential renewable fuel replaced for ever-exhausted fossil fuel. In this report, vegetable oil which is available in the South of Vietnam such as raw coconut oil is studied by heating up different temperature with the aim at decreasing its high viscosity and density and meeting the fuel requirements. The experiments are conducted on heated coconut oil (HCO) and fossil diesel oil (DO) using an 80hp of small marine diesel engine. The results of engine performance as using DO and HCO included engine power (Ne), specific fuel consumption (SFC), thermal efficiency (TE), emission characteristics such as carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbon (HC), smoke, nitrogen oxides (NOx) at internal feature are measured. The experiment results show higher SFC, CO, HC and smoke emissions, and lower TE, and NOx emissions for HCO with respect to DO. In addition, this study also reveals that, 1000C of HCO is said to be the most suitable heating temperature as getting the engine performance equals to DO.

The present study offers a novel recyclable Fe3O4/MnO2/ZIF-8 heterojunction photocatalyst for the degradationof reactive blue 19 (RB19) under visible light irradiation. The catalyst was facilely synthesized bydepositing Fe3O4/MnO2 nanocomposite onto the surface of ZIF-8 and characterized by field-emissionscanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms and UV–vis spectroscopy. Morphology and structure characterization of the prepared photocatalyst indicated that polyhedralZIF-8 (ca. 500 nm) was coated by MnO2/Fe3O4 nanorods. The synergy effect of Fe3O4/MnO2/ZIF-8 compositeexhibited an excellent photocatalytic activity toward RB19 degradation of 99.5 % after 60 min of irradiationdue to high surface area and heterojunction formation. According to scavenger tests, thephotodegradation of RB19 dye over Fe3O4/MnO2/ZIF-8 was mainly contributed by OH and O2reactiveradicals. The kinetic study showed that the catalytic degradation of RB19 on Fe3O4/MnO2/ZIF-8 was betterdescribed by the first-order kinetic model. The new catalyst was easily recovered using an external magneticfield because of its magnetic properties. Besides, Fe3O4/MnO2/ZIF-8 showed high recyclability andstability, maintaining a high removal efficiency of 91.3 % even after ten repeated cycles. The overallresults indicated that the fabricated composite can be used as an efficient photocatalyst for treatingorganic dyes in wastewater.
One new Sclerochilus(Praesclerochilus) Sars(Ostracoda) species from Korea
Le, Van Anh Thi,Yoo, Hyunsu,Karanovic, Ivana The National Institute of Biological Resources 2021 Journal of species research Vol.10 No.3
Sclerochilus Sars, 1866 is the most diverse genus of the family Bythocytheridae, one of the longest surviving groups of extant ostracods, and the oldest representative of the superfamily Cytheroidea. It has a worldwide distribution at various marine depths, and it includes three subgenera: Fascichilus Schornikov, 1981; Praesclerochilus Schornikov, 1981; and Sclerochilus Sars, 1866. We describe Sclerochilus(Praesclerochilus) jejuensis sp. nov. from Jeju Island, South Korea, raising the number of known Praesclerochilus species to 13. Although most species belonging to this subgenus have very similar carapace shape, the new species differs morphologically from its most similar congeners, S. (P.) mukaishimensis Okubo, 1977; S. (P.) pruniformis Schornikov, 1981; and S. (P.) ochotensis Schornikov, 1981, by the large ventral process on the hemipenis. So far, 29 Sclerochilus species have been reported from South Korea, only one of which was named, but for which no descriptive information was provided. Therefore, this is the first taxonomic report of a Sclerochilus species from South Korea.

Effect of Chitosan oligomer (dp = 8-16) and other adjuvant such as: Aluminum phosphate (AlPO4) and Freund on immune response of H5N1 influenza vaccine in Swiss mice has been investigated. The Swiss mice were twice vaccinated alternative 20 days with dose 0.1 ml/mouse. After 10, 20 and 30 days, the immune response of Swiss mice with H5N1 vaccine was detected. The result showed that after 20 days of the first vaccination, immune response of chitosan oligomer test and Freund was 100%, but Freund test reduced 80% after 30days of vaccination. Meanwhile, immune response of the control and AlPO4 test was very low, only 40%. The Effect of chitosan oligomer and the others on antibody titer has been also investigated. The result showed that the antibody titer of chitosan oligomer test was 60 HIU (Hemagglutination units), 70 HIUs after 10 and 20 days of the first vaccination, and increased up to 112 HIUs after 10 days of the second vaccination and the antibody titer of the chitosan oligomer test was higher than the others. Therefore, chitosan oligomer is a hopeful adjuvant for H5N1 influenza vaccine.
