One-Pot Preparation of Antibacterial Electrospun Polycaprolactone Membrane Embedded with Gamma Irradiation-Induced Silver Nanoparticles

        Chien Minh Tran,Ngoc Thi‑Thanh Nguyen,Minh Hieu Ho,Vinh Khanh Doan,Khanh Loan Ly,Nhi NgocThao Dang,Nam Minh‑Phuong Tran,Hoai Thi‑Thu Nguyen,Long Phuoc Truong,Thai Minh Do,Quyen Ngoc Tran,Hien Quoc Ng 한국섬유공학회 2023 Fibers and polymers Vol.24 No.1

In this study, we proposed a straightforward electrospun polycaprolactone (PCL) loaded with silver nanoparticles (SNPs)membrane fabrication process, in which SNPs were directly synthesized from silver nitrate (AgNO3) in PCL–acetone mixtureby gamma irradiation. The insolubility of AgNO3in PCL solution was solved using an auxiliary dimethyl sulfoxide solvent. As a physical approach, gamma rays readily converted silver ions into SNPs without the addition of harmful reductionagents, which reduced the cytotoxicity of the synthesized material. By avoiding some processes such as purification, solventremoval, or redispersion of SNPs, this method was more time-saving compared to other related studies. SNPs formation wasconfirmed by both UV–Visible spectrum (UV–Vis) and X-ray diffraction analysis. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)revealed that the addition of SNPs significantly reduced the fiber diameter of PCL–Ag membranes compared to that of rawPCL. Uniform spherical-shaped SNPs incorporated in PCL fibers were observed under transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The tensile test showed that the electrospun PCL–Ag membranes exhibited good mechanical characteristics. Moistureeasily penetrated the porous microstructure of PCL–Ag, facilitating wound humidity regulation. Inductively coupledplasma-mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS) was employed to study the release profiles of SNPs at different time intervals. Overall, the PCL–Ag 500 ppm sample exerted excellent antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcusaureus strains and low in vitro cytotoxicity.

Zein-based solid dispersion for potential application in targeted delivery

        Minh Ngoc‑Uyen Nguyen,Toi Van Vo,Phuong Ha‑Lien Tran,Thao Truong‑Dinh Tran 한국약제학회 2017 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.47 No.4

The study aims to design and evaluate the ability of zein in solid dispersion (SD) system to enhance drug dissolution rate for a further application of colonic delivery of poorly water-soluble drug. The SD samples were prepared by solvent method and the investigation of drug release was performed at pH 7.4. The wettability, molecular interactions and drug’s crystal behaviours of SDs were studied by contact angle measurement, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), respectively. Zein-based SDs showed its potential in enhancing the rate of drug release. The PXRD results pointed out a rearrangement of drug’s crystalline structure in some SD samples through the appearance of new peaks on PXRD diffractogram, while a formation of a hydrogen bond between prednisolone (PRL) and zein was also confirmed by FTIR spectra. It was evident that a strong relationship between the amount of zein and the dissolution rate of PRL in SD system attributed to zein hydrophobicity, recrystallization and molecular interaction which were factors inducing the enhanced drug release rate. In conclusion, zein is a potential carrier for controlled release SD systems, especially further application for poorly water-soluble drugs in colonic delivery like PRL due to the resistance of zein at low pH environment.

The Effect of the Country of Origin on Brand Trust: A Case Study for COVID-19 Vaccines in Vietnam

Minh Sang VO,Trung Hau NGUYEN,Thao Vy THACH,Doan Vy TRAN,Nguyen Huong Giang HOANG,Ngoc Phuong Trang PHAM 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.4

Many factors influence brand trust, including manufacturer prestige, product value and quality, country of origin, media marketing, experience, and brand relationship. The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of the nation of origin on brand trust, using Vietnam as a case study for India’s COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 407 Vietnamese people aged 18 and up participated in the survey. The findings of the study show that the nation of origin has a significant impact on brand trust. Specifically, the perceived country image has a negative effect on brand trust, the other two components of the country of origin are perceived value and perceived quality of product have a positive impact on brand trust in India’s COVID-19 vaccine. Research results show that if the perceived country image of the country of production is perceived negatively, then there will be a negative impact on brand trust. According to research findings, people in Vietnam who are 30 years old or older, have steady occupations, know about India, have used Indian products in the past, and have strong brand trust in India’s COVID-19 vaccinations. India needs to boost its country’s image and develop communication to increase brand trust in Vietnam.

The Impact of Brand Equity on Consumer Intention: A Case Study for COVID-19 Vaccine Products in Vietnam

VO, Minh Sang,NGUYEN, Trung Hau,THACH, Thao Vy,TRAN, Doan Vy,HOANG, Nguyen Huong Giang,PHAM, Ngoc Phuong Trang Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.7

Maintaining and expanding brand equity is regarded as an essential component of brand development. Effective management of brand equity leads to more opportunities for brand extension and the ability to draw in more customers. Brand equity, in particular, has a positive impact on consumer purchase intention. The purpose of this study is to look into the relationships between brand equity and consumption intention from the perspective of Vietnamese customers of India's COVID-19 vaccine products. Primary data is aggregated from 475 Vietnamese citizens with different occupations and backgrounds 18 years of age or older. The findings of the study show that consumption intention is positively inspired by brand equity, including brand association and brand quality. If consumers perceive high brand equity, it will have a higher impact on promoting consumption intention to the brand. India's COVID-19 vaccine needs to invest more in building brand equity in the Vietnamese market if it wants to increase the consumption choices of Vietnamese people. To create a good brand association and brand quality for India's COVID-19 vaccine, it is necessary to focus on communicating the good properties of the Indian-made vaccine such as safe, high protective effect, high immunity and protection, and long duration of immunity of vaccines.

Risk factors for cannula-associated arterial thrombosis following extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support: a retrospective study

Trieu Ngan Hoang Kim,Phan Xuan Thi,Tran Linh Thanh,Pham Huy Minh,Huynh Dai Quang,Nguyen Tuan Manh,Mai Anh Tuan,Du Quan Quoc Minh,Nguyen Bach Xuan,Pham Thao Thi Ngoc 대한중환자의학회 2023 Acute and Critical Care Vol.38 No.3

Background: Hemostatic dysfunction during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) due to blood-circuit interaction and the consequences of shear stress imposed by flow rates lead to rapid coagulation cascade and thrombus formation in the ECMO system and blood vessels. We aimed to identify the incidence and risk factors for cannula-associated arterial thrombosis (CaAT) post-decannulation. Methods: A retrospective study of patients undergoing arterial cannula removal following ECMO was performed. We evaluated the incidence of CaAT and compared the characteristics, ECMO machine parameters, cannula sizes, number of blood products transfused during ECMO, and daily hemostasis parameters in patients with and without CaAT. Multivariate analysis identified the risk factors for CaAT. Results: Forty-seven patients requiring venoarterial ECMO (VA-ECMO) or hybrid methods were recruited for thrombosis screening. The median Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score was 11 (interquartile range, 8–13). CaAT occurred in 29 patients (61.7%), with thrombosis in the superficial femoral artery accounting for 51.7% of cases. The rate of limb ischemia complications in the CaAT group was 17.2%. Multivariate analysis determined that the ECMO flow rate–body surface area (BSA) ratio (100 ml/min/m2) was an independent factor for CaAT, with an odds ratio of 0.79 (95% confidence interval, 0.66–0.95, P=0.014). Conclusions: We found that the incidence of CaAT was 61.7% following successful decannulation from VA-ECMO or hybrid modes, and the ECMO flow rate–BSA ratio was an independent risk factor for CaAT. We suggest screening for arterial thrombosis following VA-ECMO, and further research is needed to determine the risks and benefits of such screening.

Factors Affecting Financial Independence of Young Adults: An Empirical Study in Vietnam

Lan NGUYEN,Quyen Thi TRINH,Thao Ngoc Minh TRAN 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.10

Nowadays, with the constant enhancement in the health of the economy, the average income and living standard have accordingly increased, making the need for financial independence a favorable choice. This research aims to identify the factors affecting the financial independence of young people. The authors implement quantitative analysis, with a set of primary data collected from a survey of 2664 Vietnamese people aged from 18 to 28. The research results demonstrate the considerable impact of monetary, psychological, group-related, and family-related factors on the financial independence of young people. The results of the sample analysis provide adequate evidence to reject the correlative relationship between family and group factors and the financial independence of young people. In addition, there are 3 factors, including demographic factors, monetary factors, and psychological factors, all have varying degrees and directions of influence on young people’s financial independence. Most of the mentioned variables reflect a positive effect on financial independence. The only exception is the education variable, illustrated by its negative standardized beta value. A significant difference in financial independence between genders also is reported, suggesting that males seem to have a higher level of financial independence than females.
