<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>We have measured the proton energy distribution from the <SUP>4</SUP>He(stopped <SUP>K−</SUP>,p) reaction by means of time-of-flight. A mono-energetic peak was observed, which is interpreted as the formation of a new kind of neutral tribaryon S<SUP>0</SUP>(3115) with isospin T=1 and strangeness S=−1. The mass and width of the state were deduced to be 3117.0−4.4+1.5MeV/<SUP>c2</SUP> and <21MeV/<SUP>c2</SUP>, respectively. The state mainly decays into ΣNN.</P>
Precision measurement of the 3d->2p x-ray energy in kaonic <sup>4</sup>He

We have measured the Balmer-series x-rays of kaonic <SUP>4</SUP>He atoms using novel large-area silicon drift x-ray detectors in order to study the low-energy K@?-nucleus strong interaction. The energy of the 3d->2p transition was determined to be 6467+/-3(stat)+/-2(syst) eV. The resulting strong-interaction energy-level shift is in agreement with theoretical calculations, thus eliminating a long-standing discrepancy between theory and experiment.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>We have simultaneously measured the energy spectra of neutrons and protons emitted in the non-mesonic weak decays of HeΛ5 and CΛ12 hypernuclei produced via the (<SUP>π+</SUP>,<SUP>K+</SUP>) reaction with much higher statistics than those of previous experiments. The neutron-to-proton yield ratios for both hypernuclei at a high energy threshold (60 MeV) were approximately equal to two, which suggests that the ratio of the neutron- and proton-induced decay channels, <SUB>Γn</SUB>(Λn→nn)/<SUB>Γp</SUB>(Λp→np), is about 0.5. In the neutron energy spectra, we found that the yield of the low-energy component is unexpectedly large, even for HeΛ5.</P>
Ti - V - Cr BCC Alloys System with High Protium Content

This paper aims to study the relationship between the protium absorption properties and alloy composition of Ti-V-Cr alloys. We studied the effects of composition of the alloys and the heat-treatment on the protium absorption-desorption properties of Ti-V-Cr alloys, and found that Ti-35V-40Cr alloys show 2.6 mass% protium capacity. The plateau pressure of the alloys increased with decreasing lattice constants, resulting from increasing Cr content. The main phase of the samples containing more than 15%V was a BCC phase in the cast state. These BCC phase alloys exhibited 2.4 mass% protium. It was also found that the heat-treatment was effective in stabilizing a BCC structure in Ti-V-Cr alloys with low V content. The alloy yields the high capacity of 3.0 mass% protium capacity, which will be the highest value at 313 K reported so far. The alloy will be promising since it contains a low amount of the expensive V element.
Fabrication of Nano-Structures on NiFe Film by Anodization with Atomic Force Microscope

We studied local anodization on permalloy (Ni??Fe₂?) thin film with an atomic force microscope (AFM), which was performed by applying a voltage between the permalloy sample and conductive AFM tip. Comparing with anodization on Si (100) substrate, nano-structures on the permalloy thin film was fabricated with low processability. In order to improve the processability on the permalloy thin film, we used dot-fabrication method, that is, a conductive AFM probe was kept at a position on the film during the anodization process.

Introduction Patient satisfaction is an important outcome of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, we cannot predict how and why patients are satisfied or dissatisfied with TKA. The hypothesis of this study was that patient-reported outcomes (PROs) correlate with in vivo kinematics after TKA. Materials and methods One hundred knees were analyzed after TKA. The in vivo kinematics of deep knee bending motion were estimated from single-plane fluoroscopy using a two-to-three-dimensional registration technique. Active knee flexion, femoral rotation and rollback were evaluated. The PROs were obtained after surgery using the 2011 Knee Society Scoring System (KSS), and their relationship with in vivo kinematics was determined. Results The average minimum and maximum flexion were -2.4 ± 7.3° and 113.2 ± 13.6°, respectively. The average femoral rotation was 7.4 ± 3.4°, and the average medial and lateral rollback were 2.4 ± 4.8 mm and 7.2 ± 5.6 mm, respectively. The multiple regression analysis revealed that the maximum flexion angle significantly contributed to symptoms and satisfaction. In addition, lateral rollback was also a significant factor affecting patient satisfaction. Lateral rollback and lateral Anterior-Posterior (AP) position at maximum flexion were correlated with the maximum flexion angle, whereas femoral rotation did not correlate with flexion angles. Conclusions Maximum flexion and lateral rollback are important for better patient satisfaction after TKA. To obtain the maximum flexion angle, it was necessary to perform the normal kinematic pattern with a large amount of lateral rollback.
