        양산단층 중앙부의 활단층 지형과 Trench 조사

        梁山斷層系의 중앙부에 대하여 항공사진 판독과 현지 지형, 지질 조사를 통하여 다음과 같은 사실이 밝혀졌다. 1. 梁山斷層系는 第脚紀(後期)에도 활동을 반복하고 있는 活斷層이다. 따라서 이 단충은 그 좌우에 분포하는 高位, 中位, 低位의 각 河岸段丘面 모두를 상, 하방향으로 누적적으로 변화시키고 있다. 2. 梁山斷層系의 중앙부에서 段丘面의 變位로 미루어 볼 때 동측이 상대적으로 隆起하고 있다. 이것은 이 지역의 中地形的 山地高度의 분포와는 逆이다. 3. 斷層線온 현저하게 直線的으로 연장되어 있고, 斷層面은 거의 수직이다. 이 斷層系에 수반되는 破碑帶도 폭 수십 m 이상으로 넓고, 현저한 斷層粘土帶와 變形帶를 동반한다. 4. 偏平礫의 변형 형태에 의하면 走向移動이 탁월한 단층운동이 추정된다. 斷層粘土帶의 破碎物質의 관찰에 의하여 右橫變位走向移動(right strike slip)이 인정된다. 5. 이들의 특징으로부터 梁山斷層系는 走商移動(右橫變位)이 탁월한 活斷層으로 판명되었다. 段丘面 및 堆積物의 추정 계산치로부터 梁山斷層系의 평균 상, 하 變位 速度는 0.02-0.03㎜/y. 정도이고, 右橫變位의 평균 속도는 적어도 C급 상위(0.05∼0.1㎜/y.) 정도이든지 이것을 약간 상회하는 정도일 것으로 추정된다. 6. 低位 및 最低位의 段丘面에서는 上位變位를 밝히기 어려웠다. 이들의 段丘面 위에는 논으로 이용되고 있기 때문에 오랜 기간 동안 인공적으로 改變을 받아왔으며 이들 단구면 위에서 1 ∼2m 정도의 상·하 변위가 있었다고 해도 인공적 개변이 이를 지워버렸을 것이다. 따라서 이들의 최근에 형성된 단구면에서는 변위의 유무를 언급할 수 없었다. Many distinct lineaments have been recognized by Landsat images In Korea Peninsula. The Yangsan fault system situated in the southeastern part of Korea is especially linear, continuously traceable for a long distance(about 200㎞), and particularly remarkable among these linearnent. The topographic expression of the Yangsan fault system is derived from the straightly stretching fault valley with wide shattered zones in the direction of NNE-SSW. This fault system extends for about 200㎞ from the mouth of the Nagdong River west of Busan in the south to Yeondong in the north, and geologically separates Korean Peninsula from the East Sea. The amount of horizontal displacement may reach 30㎞. It is recognized as one of the most important faults in Korea Peninsula. From the interpretations of aerial photographs, and field surveys along the central part of the Yangsan fault system, the main results are summarized as follows; 1. The Yangsan fault system has repeatedly moved in the late Quaternary. The lower to higher river terrace surface on this system show cumulative vertical offsets. 2. The vertical component is upthrown on the east side from considering the terrace offset and the distribution of the mountainous lands. This vertical movement is reverse to the topographical situation on the meso-scale. 3. The fault trace is extremely straight. The fault plane is almost vertical. The shattered zone exceeds tens of meters in width with a remarkable fault gouge. 4. The longer axis of flat clasts within the gravel excavated in the exploratory trench showed the rearrangement along the fault. The predominantly right-lateral movements were recognized as the elongation of clayey parts and breccias in the fault gouge. 5. From these characteristics, the Yangsan fault was clarified to be active with predominantly right-lateral movement. Estimated ages of terraces and its deposits give average rates of vertical and right slip on the Yangsan fault system at about 0.02~0.03&/y., respectively. 6. The fault topography is not found on the lower terraces. As the surface of lower fault scarplets less than a few meters high might have been modified or destroyed by the human actions. Therefore, we cannot mention the existence of the younger movement on the lower terraces.

        Coronal Plane Gap Increases Postoperative Pseudoarthrosis after Lateral Interbody Fusion for Adult Spinal Deformity

        Study Design: This is a retrospective study.Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the risk factor associated with pseudoarthrosis after placement of lateral interbody fusion (LIF) cages for adult spinal deformity (ASD) treatment. Overview of Literature: LIF technique is widely used for ASD correction. Furthermore, pseudoarthrosis is a major complication of fusion surgery required for revision surgery.Methods: This study included 42 patients with ASD (two men and 40 women; 112 segments; mean, 68.5±8.4 years; and mean follow-up, 31.6±17.0 months) who underwent LIF and posterior correction surgery. The concave slot of the LIF cage was filled with an autologous iliac crest bone graft (IBG), and the convex slot with a porous hydroxyapatite/collagen (HAp/Col) composite was soaked with bone marrow aspirate. Endplate injury, the gap between vertebral endplate and cage in the coronal or sagittal plane, and fusion status were evaluated using computed tomography multiplanar reconstruction at 12 months after surgery. Moreover, the associated risk factors for pseudoarthrosis were analyzed.Results: Fusion at LIF segments were observed in 71.4% segments at 12 months after surgery. Fusion on the concave slot (autologous IBG side), convex slot (porous HAp/Col composite side), and both concave and convex slots were observed in 66.1%, 37.5%, and 36.6% of patients, respectively. Moreover, pseudoarthrosis was observed in 28.6% at 12 months after surgery. Consequently, logistic regression analysis of the fusion at the LIF segment revealed that the gap between the LIF cage and endplate in the coronal plane (p=0.030; odds ratio, 0.183; 95% confidence interval, 0.030–0.183) was significantly associated with pseudoarthrosis at the LIF segments.Conclusions: ASD surgery fusion rate using LIF cages was 71.4% at 12 months after surgery. The fusion rate was higher on the concave slot filled with autologous IBG than on the convex slot filled with a porous HAp/Col composite. The gap in the coronal plane was a risk factor for pseudoarthrosis at the LIF segment.

        Nakanoshima Festival Tower is a 200 m high-rise complex building which contains a renewed 2700-seat capacity concert hall known as "Festival Hall" and offices including headquarter of a news company. In order to build up an office tower on the hall which requires large open space, a giant truss system is employed. The giant trusses being composed of mega-trusses and belt-trusses support all the building weight above them and transfer the load to the outside of the hall. The building also requires high seismic resistance performance for a news company. Application of mid-story seismic isolation enables the building to satisfy high-level seismic resistance criteria.

        <P>We study the neutrino sector in a minimal SU(3)(L) x U(1)(X) model, in which its mass is generated at a one-loop level with the charged lepton mass, and hence, there exists a strong correlation between the charged-lepton mass and the neutrino mass. We identify the parameter region of this model to satisfy the current neutrino oscillation data as well as the constraints on lepton flavor violating processes. We also discuss a possibility to explain the muon anomalous magnetic moment.</P>

        Erectile Dysfunction in Germ Cell Tumor Survivors

        Purpose: Germ cell tumors (GCTs) are the most common malignant neoplasms in adolescents and young adults, and most patients with these tumors can be completely cured. Therefore, maintaining quality of life (QOL) is important. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is one factor that reduces the QOL of GCT survivors. We aimed to clarify the relationship between ED and age, follow-up period, serum levels of hormones, and treatment methods for GCT survivors. Materials and Methods: We evaluated ED using the Sexual Health Inventory for Men questionnaire (SHIM) and measured serum levels of hormones in survivors after GCT treatment. The relationships between the SHIM score responses and age, serum levels of hormones, follow-up period, and treatment methods were assessed using a logistic analysis. Results: Fifty-two GCT survivors were enrolled and 46 survivors completed the SHIM. The median age, follow-up period, and SHIM score were 38 years, 35 months, and 18, respectively. Regarding the SHIM scores, 85% had scores <22 and 46% had scores <17. The percentage of SHIM scores <17 was 69% in patients with under 2 years of follow-up. It significantly improved to 33% in patients with over 2 years of follow-up. The multivariate analysis identified the follow-up period as an independent factor for SHIM scores <17. Age, serum levels of hormone, and treatment method were not significant factors for SHIM scores <17. Conclusions: Improvement of SHIM score can be expected after GCT treatment regardless of age, serum levels of hormone, and treatment method.

      • Negotiations in the Gendered Experiences of Transpinay Entertainers in Japan

        Among Filipino entertainers in Japan, trans women (transgender women) or transpinay (Filipino trans woman) entertainers remain understudied compared to cisgender women. Though the number of entertainers has declined, transpinay entertainers remain relevant as transgender issues continue to be salient globally. This study explains the gendered experiences of the transpinay migrants, particularly in entertainment work and their relationships, which are different from cisgender Filipino women entertainers' experiences. Using grounded theory and drawing on concepts of performativity in interactions to analyze the narratives of transpinay entertainers, I delve into how transpinay entertainers negotiate their gender and migrant identities as they establish professional and personal relationships. Moreover, the transpinays' entertainment work is a significant contributing factor to their sense of belonging in Japan, as they form relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners who support them and, thereby, sustain their lifestyles as trans women. The transpinay entertainers' flows of migration between Japan and the Philippines reveal that they embrace various aspects of social remittances and use them to their advantage to create and enhance their transpinay identity in Japan. By examining the transpinays' migrant experiences, this study aims to elucidate the gendered experiences of transpinay entertainers, which involve significant negotiations in their migration pathways notably different from cisgender Filipino women entertainers, reveal resilience.
