        Compatibility effects of ginseng and Ligustrum lucidum Ait herb pair on hematopoietic recovery in mice with cyclophosphamide-induced myelosuppression and its material basis

        Background: Ginseng (G) and Ligustrum lucidum Ait (LLA) are core traditional Chinese medicines in treating myelosuppression formula. The present study was designed to profile effect of G and LLA herb pair (G-LLA) on myelosuppressed mice. Methods: The mice myelosuppression model was established by intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of cyclophosphamide (Cy). Hematopoietic function of bone marrow was measured by hemopoietic progenitor cell culture and peripheral blood count, and serum hemopoietic factors were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Bone marrow cell cycle was performed by flow cytometry. HPLC was used to measure 20 potential chemical components related to myelosuppression, including ginsenoside Rg<sub>1</sub>, Re, Rb<sub>1</sub>, Rc, Rb<sub>2</sub>, Rb<sub>3</sub>, Rd, Rk<sub>3</sub>, Rh<sub>4</sub>, 20 (S)-Rg<sub>3</sub>, 20 (R)-Rg<sub>3</sub>, Rk<sub>1</sub>, Rg<sub>5</sub>, salidroside, and so on. Results: G, LLA, and G-LLA improved the amount of peripheral blood cells and bone marrow cells of myelosuppressed mice (P < 0.01). They significantly increased the colony quantity of colony-forming unit-granulocyte macrophage, burst-forming unit-erythroid, colony-forming unit-erythroid, and colony-forming unit-megakaryocyte and amount of G<sub>2</sub>/M and S phase cells (P < 0.01). They also significantly decreased the amount of hematopoiesis-related cytokines (P < 0.01). The content of chemical components in G-LLA changed, and the change of rare saponin was the most obvious. Conclusion: These results show that G-LLA herb pair might produce synergistic or complementary compatibility effects on bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy. It suggests that the substance basis of G-LLA for treating bone marrow suppression may be effective chemical components.

        네일 고객 손의 특징과 계절에 따른 네일 컬러와 아트기법의 선호도 연구 분석

        The present study aims to explain if there are differences between seasonal image colors and nail art color preferences, if there are colors suited for the characteristics of hands, and if nail art techniques differ depending on the season. The survey was conducted on clients living in Gwangju with the age ranging from their 10s to 40s focusing on the client characteristics and preferences of nail art colors and techniques in accordance with their physical traits (hand shape and skin color). The first-round survey consisted of seven questions about personal characteristics, and the second-round interview consisted of 11 questions about the preferences of nail art colors and techniques. As a result, the preferred colors in spring were white, red and purple. The nail colors preferred in summer were orange, white, and green as well as bluish green. The nail colors preferred in winter are purple, bluish green, and navy blue. As for nail art techniques, one-color, two-tone, and gradation techniques were most preferred throughout four seasons, and air brush technique was also highly preferred.

        신조형주의 미술에 의한 네일아트 제작연구

        Nail art has artistic nature in that creative works can be represented with uses of various materials and representative techniques on small space of nail. Mondrian’s neo-plastic paintings are characterized by abstractness and composed of red, blue and yellow rectangular sides and white and black sides with black lines. His paintings have strict structures made of vertical and horizontal lines. Therefore, this study is to study geometric and artistic sentiment based on Mondrian’s painting works, and use trendy nail art techniques to create practical nail art. The study speculated artistic world of creative works using items with aesthetic values from Mondrian’s artistic works and created more effective nail art techniques based on their characteristics. Mondrian had a firm belief that space should be a form and a plane based on the principle of painting out of natural concept The study attempted a new change of nail art emphasizing trichromatic and achromatic colors although there is a limit in expressing the plane using nails.

        Low Stratospheric Wind Measurement Using Mobile Rayleigh Doppler Wind LIDAR

        A mobile Rayleigh Doppler wind LIDAR at an eye-safe wavelength of 355 nm incorporating double-edge technique with triple-channel Fabry-Perot etalon is developed for wind measurement from 5to 40km. The structure of this LIDAR system is described. An intercomparsion experiment with rawinsonde is made, showing good agreement with expected measurement accuracy. A continuous observation of stratosphere wind field for several days with temporal resolution of 15 min and spatial resolution of 200 m from 5 to 40 km is presented, demonstrating the stability and robustness of the LIDAR. A stratospheric quasi-zero wind layer can be found at around 20 km with a direction change from east to west evident in the continuous observation.

        Virtual Screening and Testing of GSK-3 Inhibitors Using Human SH-SY5Y Cells Expressing Tau Folding Reporter and Mouse Hippocampal Primary Culture under Tau Cytotoxicity

        Glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) is an important serine/threonine kinase that implicates in multiple cellular processes and links with the neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease (AD). In this study, structure-based virtual screening was performed to search database for compounds targeting GSK-3β from Enamine’s screening collection. Of the top-ranked compounds, 7 primary hits underwent a luminescent kinase assay and a cell assay using human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells expressing Tau repeat domain (TauRD) with pro-aggregant mutation ΔK280. In the kinase assay for these 7 compounds, residual GSK-3β activities ranged from 36.1% to 90.0% were detected at the IC50 of SB-216763. In the cell assay, only compounds VB-030 and VB-037 reduced Tau aggregation in SH-SY5Y cells expressing ΔK280 TauRD-DsRed folding reporter. In SH-SY5Y cells expressing ΔK280 TauRD, neither VB-030 nor VB-037 increased expression of GSK-3α Ser21 or GSK-3β Ser9. Among extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), AKT serine/threonine kinase 1 (AKT), mitogen-activated protein kinase 14 (P38) and mitogenactivated protein kinase 8 (JNK) which modulate Tau phosphorylation, VB-037 attenuated active phosphorylation of P38 Thr180/ Tyr182, whereas VB-030 had no effect on the phosphorylation status of ERK, AKT, P38 or JNK. However, both VB-030 and VB-037 reduced endogenous Tau phosphorylation at Ser202, Thr231, Ser396 and Ser404 in neuronally differentiated SH-SY5Y expressing ΔK280 TauRD. In addition, VB-030 and VB-037 further improved neuronal survival and/or neurite length and branch in mouse hippocampal primary culture under Tau cytotoxicity. Overall, through inhibiting GSK-3β kinase activity and/or p-P38 (Thr180/Tyr182), both compounds may serve as promising candidates to reduce Tau aggregation/cytotoxicity for AD treatment.

        Circular RNA cFAM210A, degradable by HBx, inhibits HCC tumorigenesis by suppressing YBX1 transactivation

        Hepatitis B protein x (HBx) has been reported to promote tumorigenesis in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but the mechanism awaits further investigation. In this study, we found that cFAM210A (a circular RNA derived from the third exon of transcript NM_001098801 of the FAM210A gene; CircBase ID: hsa_circ_0003979) can be silenced by HBx. cFAM210A expression was downregulated and negatively correlated with tumorigenesis in patients with HBV-related HCC. Furthermore, cFAM210A reduced the proliferation, stemness, and tumorigenicity of HCC cells. Mechanistically, HBx increased the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) level of cFAM210A by promoting the expression of RBM15 (an m6A methyltransferase), thus inducing the degradation of cFAM210A via the YTHDF2-HRSP12-RNase P/MRP pathway. cFAM210A bound to YBX1 and inhibited its phosphorylation, suppressing its transactivation function toward MET. These findings suggest the important role of circular RNAs in HBx-induced hepatocarcinogenesis and identify cFAM210A a potential target in the prevention and treatment of HBV-related HCC.

        인지심리학 기반 포스터의 은유성 분석 연구 - 세계 자연보호기금(WWF) 동물보호 공익 광고를 중심으로 -

        공익광고는 인간의 사회활동 중 가장 흔한 공익의 형태로, 시각적인 형식을 통해 올바른 가치관과 행위방식을 사회에 알리는 것으로, 인류가 지구 생태계를 파괴하는 것은 오늘날 인류가 직면해야 할 사회적 문제가 되고 있다. 본문은 세계자연보전기금(WWF)이 홍보하는 은유 공익포스터를 연구하여 공익포스터의 홍보효과에 대한 개선의견을 제시하는 동시에 향후 은유 공익포스터의 디자인 전략을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서는 인지심리학의 이론적 개념을 바탕으로 인지과정의 세 가지 인지요소 즉 주의, 기억, 인식을 도출하였다. 세 가지 인지 요소의 개념을 통해 세 가지 시각적 영향 요인, 즉 차별성, 유사성 및 의미 확장을 도출했다. 다음으로 포스터의 네 가지 디자인 요소(이미지, 컬러, 레이아웃, 타입)를 통해 포스터의 인지적 요소와 시각적 요소를 분석한다. 은유의 개념에 따라 포스터의 이미지를 본체와 유체로 나누고 최종적으로 포스터를 분석하기 위한 분석틀을 만든다. 결과로부터 은유 포스터는 식별하기 쉬운 효과가 필요하며 시청자는 포스터 이미지와 은유 이미지를 통해 연상할 수 있음을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 주의 효과가 있는 포스터는 기억하기 쉬운 효과가 없고 그 반대의 경우도 마찬가지다. 주의 효과는 기억 효과보다 포스터에서 더 일반적으로 사용된다. 시각인식에 영향을 미치는 요인 차원으로 분석해 보면 포스터와 함께 의미 확장되는 특징을 가지고 있기 때문에 시청자들은 포스터 이미지와 은유 이미지를 통해 두 이미지의 의미를 서로 확장시켜 궁극적으로 은유적인 효과를 만들어낸다. 셋째, 은유 포스터의 차별성과 의미 확장은 매우 중요하며 가장 은유적인 포스터를 형성하기 위한 필요한 조건이다. 마지막으로 위의 결론에 따라 은유 포스터의 디자인을 위한 디자인 전략과 제안을 제공한다. Public interest advertising is the most common form of public interest among human social activities, promoting the right values and manner of conduct to the society through visual forms. This study, based on the theoretical concept of cognitive psychology, derived the three cognitive elements of the cognitive process: attention, memory and cognition. Through the concept of three cognitive factors have derived three visual impact factors, namely differentiability, similarity and semantic extension. Next, through the four design elements of the poster, the cognitive elements and visual elements of the poster are analyzed. According to the concept of metaphor, divide the poster’s image into body and body fluid, and finally build an analysis frame to analyze the poster. It can be seen from the results that metaphor posters need an effect that is easy to identify and viewers can associate through poster images and metaphor images. Second, posters with attention effect have no catchy effect and vice versa. The attention effect is more commonly used in posters than the memory effect. Analyzed from the dimension of factors that affect visual perception, it is found that they have the feature of meaning expansion with posters. Therefore, viewers extend the meaning of the two images to each other through poster images and metaphor images, ultimately producing a metaphorical effect. Third, the differentiation and meaning extension of metaphor posters are very important, and are necessary and sufficient conditions to form the most metaphorical posters. Finally it provides design strategies and suggestions for the design of metaphor posters according to the above conclusions.
