Vol.46 No.4
This study dealt with the problem of understanding about sexual harassment in sports fields. With this trying, this study analyzed how student athletes perceive the sexual behavior and language used in daily life and sporting contexts as sexual harassment. For solving this research question, questionnaires were distributed to general students and athletes in high schools placed in D metropolitan. With the process, we found some significant results about the recognition on the sexual harassment. First, athletes ignored with what behavior can be considered as a sexual harassment in general and sporting field. Second, attitude of male students and athletes were more generous and insensitive toward sexually-violent behavior and language circulated in general and sporting milieu than that of female students and athletes. Moreover, even female athletes were more insensitive for the sexually-harassed behavior and attitude in their contexts than female students in general high schools. These results showed that sporting culture of Korea was constructed with the trend of masculine-centered paradigm and in that culture, most athletes keep going to learn the standardized 'maleness' attributes with recognizing that as normality. And in that male-dominated culture, female athletes could not be exception for that learning process.

The number of obese youth has increased dramatically in recent decades, yet very little data has assessed how children`s lifestyles have led to this increase in obesity. This study investigated possible factors (media viewing, dietary patterns, and levels of physical activity) contributing to the prevalence in obese Hispanic American children. Twenty-four Hispanic boysaged 6-13 years were recruited. Based on initial body mass index screenings, the subjects were assigned to either a control or obese group (obese > 25% by % fat). Both groups were administered assessments on media viewing, dietary patterns, and levels of physical activity by using a daily log and pedometer. There was no significant difference in media viewing between the obese group and the control group. The total amount of caloric intake in the obese group was not different from that of the control group. However, the percentage of fat calories in the obese group was significantly higher than that of the control group. The average steps per day in the control group were significantly higher than that in the obese group. It was assumed that the dominant determinants in obese Hispanic boysmight be heavily influenced by a high percentage of fat calories consumption and low levels of physical activity, not media viewing and total amount of caloric intake.
Global Illumination Invariant Object Detection With Level Set Based Bimodal Segmentation
Suk-Ho Lee,Hyenkyun Woo,Moon Gi kang IEEE 2010 IEEE transactions on circuits and systems for vide Vol.20 No.4

In this letter, we propose a new detection method for video surveillance which provides for a robust and real-time working object detection under various global illumination conditions. The proposed scheme needs no manual parameter settings for different illumination conditions, which makes the algorithm applicable to automatic surveillance systems. Two special filters are designed to eliminate the spurious object regions that occur due to the charge coupled device (CCD) noise, making the scheme stable even in very low illumination conditions. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm experimentally with different illumination conditions, changes in contrast, and noise level.

We present a full HD H.264/AVC High Profile hardware encoder based on fast motion estimation (ME). Most processing cycles are occupied with ME and use external frame memory (SDRAM) access to fetch samples, which degrades the performance of the encoder. An approach to pixel subsampling fast ME which uses shared memory can solve these problems. The proposed algorithm achieves an 87.5% reduction of computational complexity compared with the full search algorithm in the JM reference software. It is feasible to perform the algorithm at a 270 ㎒ clock speed for 30 frame/s real-time full HD hardware encoding. Its total gate count is 872k, and internal SRAM size is 41.8 kB.

We present a full HD (1080p) H.264/AVC High Profile hardware encoder based on fast motion estimation (ME). Most processing cycles are occupied with ME and use external memory access to fetch samples, which degrades the performance of the encoder. A novel approach to fast ME which uses shared multibank memory can solve these problems. The proposed pixel subsampling ME algorithm is suitable for fast motion vector searches for high-quality resolution images. The proposed algorithm achieves an 87.5% reduction of computational complexity compared with the full search algorithm in the JM reference software, while sustaining the video quality without any conspicuous PSNR loss. The usage amount of shared multibank memory between the coarse ME and fine ME blocks is 93.6%, which saves external memory access cycles and speeds up ME. It is feasible to perform the algorithm at a 270 MHz clock speed for 30 frame/s real-time full HD encoding. Its total gate count is 872k, and internal SRAM size is 41.8 kB.
