        Intradural Transpetrosectomy for Petrous Apex Meningiomas

        Objective : This study aimed to assess the surgical results of the intradural transpetrosectomy for petrous apex meningiomas (PAMs). In addition, we describe the methods and techniques used to expose and manage superior petrous vein and greater superficial petrosal nerve. Methods : The authors conducted a retrospective study of 16 patients with PAMs operated by the senior author via the intradural transpetrosectomy between February 2012 to May 2017. We reviewed patient data regarding the general characteristics, surgical technique and surgery-related outcomes and adopted a combined follow-up strategy of clinic and telephone contacts to evaluate postoperative complications. Results : Simpson grade I and II resection was performed in 10 out of 16 cases (62.5%), and grade III resection were reported in the remaining six cases (37.5%) with no resultant mortality. The mean Karnofsky Performance Status score was 85.6 preoperatively and improved to 91.9 postoperatively, with a mean follow-up period of 34.4 months (range, 6-66 months). Tumor recurrence was found in two patients and they underwent the second surgical operation. Conclusion : PAMs could be completely resected by the intradural transpetrosectomy with an improved survival rate and postoperative life quality. Superior petrous vein and greater superficial petrosal nerve should be managed properly in avoidance of postoperative complications. Finally, most meningioma inside cavernous sinus or adhered to brainstem could be totally removed without postoperative complications.

        V-life의 시각적 인지 반응이 팬 행동 의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        This study focuses on the influence of V-life's visual cognitive response on fans' behavioral intention. Recently, a variety show called 2060, featuring an original virtual idol, caused a heated debate in China. The show gave these digital human the concept of " V-life(virtual life)". According to the results of the market survey, fans pay as much as 72.8% attention to the visual design of digital human. It can be inferred that the visual cognitive response of V-life will play an important role in the behavioral intention of fans. This study verified this influence path through a questionnaire survey and structural equation model analysis. The results show that, in the visual cognitive response of V-life, discomfort has a significant negative impact on verisimilitude and physical attractiveness. Following this, verisimilitude will have a positive impact on authenticity through social presence, while authenticity through social attractiveness will be positively influenced through physical attractiveness. Lastly, the authenticity of V-life will have a positive impact on the relationship maintenance intention, and will further have a positive impact on the product purchase intention through the relationship maintenance intention. Future research will continue to expand the findings to more fan groups and media types. 본 연구는 V-life의 시각적 인지 반응이 팬 행동 의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구이다. 본 연구는 주로 V-life의 시각적 인지 반응이 팬들의 행동 의도에 미치는 영향에 대해 탐구하고 있다. 이를 위해 최근 디지털 휴먼에게 V-life(가상 아이돌)라는 개념을 부여하는 데 지대한 역할을 한 '2060'이라는 예능 프로그램을 예시로써 소개하고 있다. 해당 프로그램은 예능에서 오리지널 디지털 휴먼을 처음 등장시켜 중국에서 뜨거운 논쟁과 신선한 바람을 가져왔다. 시장조사에 따르면 팬들의 관심 중 72.8%가 가상 아이돌의 외형 디자인에 집중되어 있음을 알 수 있다. 그렇기에 가상 아이돌인 V-life에 대한 시각적 인지 반응이 팬들의 행동 의도에 유의미한 영향을 미칠 것으로 가정할 수 있다. 본 연구는 설문조사 및 구조 방정식 모델의 분석 결과를 통해 해당 가설의 영향 경로를 확인했다. 연구 결과에 따르면 V-life의 시각적 인지 반응의 불편함(부조화)은 사실감과 신체적 매력에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었으며 사실감은 사회적 실재감을 통해, 신체적 매력은 사회적 매력을 통해 진정성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 V-life의 진정성은 관계 유지 의도를 통해 제품 구매 의도에 더욱 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있을 것으로 추정된다. 해당 연구 결과는 더 많은 팬 그룹 및 미디어 유형에 관한 후속 연구로 확대될 것으로 기대된다.

        A Study Research on Physical Injury and Related Legal Risks in Taekwondo Do-Jiang Trainee in China

        2022년 올해로 한⋅중 수교 30년이 되었고 태권도가 중국 대륙에 보급된지 30년이 훨씬 넘었다. 그러나 현재까지 거대한 중국 태권도 산업과 시장에 대한 연구가 부족한 것이 사실이고 특히 중국 태권도 산업의 근간이 되는 태권도 도장 수련생 신체 상해에 관한 연구는 더욱 많지 않은 것이 사실이다. 태권도는 한⋅중 수교 30년간 중국에서는 많은 인기를 누렸고 현재까지 수련생도 폭발적으로 증가하였다. 그럼에도 중국 도장에서 빈번히 발생하는 수련생의 부상 및 관련 법적 문제가 태권도의 지속 가능한 발전과 수련생의 훈련에 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있는 부분을 간과하였고 이에 대한 연구도 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 태권도 수련 중 신체 상해에 관한 문제는 그에 따른 법적 문제를 중요하게 고려해 할 요소이며 수련생의 수련 및 태권도장 발전에 영향을 미치는 핵심 요소로 보아야 함을 조명하였다. 본 연구에서는 한⋅중 선행연구자료를 비교하고 태권도장에서 발생한 몇 가지 사례를 조사 연구하여 태권도장 신체 상해의 법적인 위험에 관해 논의하였다. 그럼으로써 향후 중국 태권도 도장에서 수련생 상해 및 관련 법적 위험방지에 대해 지속적인 연구의 필요성을 제기하고 관련 부문에 이론적 연구 자료를 제공하고 도장의 바른 법적인 대처와 이해에 목적과 의의가 있다.

        Reinforced high-strength concrete square columnsconfined by aramid FRP jackets. part II: modeling

        Based on the experimental data presented in part I of these companion papers, a semi-empirical model is proposed for axial stress-strain curves of reinforced high-strength concrete square columns confined by aramid fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) jackets. Additionally, a three-dimensional finite element model is developed to simulate the mechanical behaviors of the columns. In the finite element model, both material nonlinear and contact nonlinear are taken into account. Moreover, the influence of contact nonlinear (i.e., the end friction on the contact surface between test machines and specimens) is investigated deeply. Predictions from both the semi-empirical model and the finite element model agree with the experimental results, and it is also demonstrated that the friction coefficient of end friction notably affect the properties of columns when it ranges from 0.00 to 0.25.

        In-vitro assessment of the accuracy and reliability of mandibular dental model superimposition based on voxel-based cone-beam computed tomography registration

        Objective: This study was performed to evaluate the accuracy and reliability of a newly designed method to achieve mandibular dental model superimposition, using voxel-based cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) registration. Methods: Fourteen dry cadaveric mandibles and six teeth extracted from patients with severe periodontitis were used to establish 14 orthodontic toothmovement models. The protocol consisted of two steps: in the first step, voxel-based CBCT mandible superimposition was performed; the reference comprised the external portion of the symphysis, extending to the first molar. The laser-scanned dental model image was then integrated with the CBCT image to achieve mandibular dental model superimposition. The entire process required approximately 10 minutes. Six landmarks were assigned to the teeth to measure tooth displacement, using tooth displacement on the superimposed laser-scanned mandibles as the reference standard. Accuracy was evaluated by comparing differences in tooth displacement based on the method and the reference standard. Two observers performed superimposition to evaluate reliability. Results: For three-dimensional tooth displacements, the differences between the method and the reference standard were not significant in the molar, premolar, or incisor groups (p > 0.05). The intraclass correlation coefficients for the inter- and intra-observer reliabilities of all measurements were > 0.92. Conclusions: Our method of mandibular dental model superimposition based on voxel registration is accurate, reliable, and can be performed within a reasonable period of time in vitro, demonstrating a potential for use in orthodontic patients.

        Establishment of the Model Widely Valid for the Melting and Vaporization Zones in Selective Laser Melting Printings Via Experimental Verifications

        The thermally affected material properties operating in the three phases and porosity variations in the SS316L steel powder have been introduced to the numerical analyses for the transient volumetric heat source (Q) models developed for the solid powder, melting, and vaporization regions in the selective laser melting (SLM). The bulk Q is thus a function of these heat sources and their ratio defined for the liquid and vapor phases. The heat conduction developed for the solid powders with porosity strings the heat convection with Q as the moving heat source to solve two-dimensional temperature distributions efficiently without the confinement of operating conditions and phase presumption. The specimens with single- and multiple-track printings are prepared to investigate the effects of incident energy density (E) and power intensity (I o) on the geometries of single-track printings and the areal surface roughness (Sa) values of the multiple-track printings with 0 and 50% overlap ratios. Laser power and scanning velocity are the controlling factors for the melting pool depth D and width W . D and W become the governing factors for the keyhole with evaporations, which affects the height H of single track after solidification. The W and D results predicted by the theoretical models developed in this study have an error range, 5–20%, compared to the experimental ones, which is much lower than those reported in the literatures (Gusarov et al. in J Heat Transf 131(7):072101, 2009. https ://doi.org/10.1115/1.31092 45 ; Hussein et al. in Mater Des 52:638–647, 2013. https ://doi.org/10.1016/j.matde s.2013.05.070 ; Yin et al. The contact angle ( ϕ * ) is defined as a function of single-track width ( W ) and solidification height ( H ). ϕ * and Sa are significantly reduced as an E is applied beyond its critical value (47.62–57.14 J/mm 3 ). Significant change in Sa is ascribed to the big difference in the morphology and its surface pattern when E or I o reaches its critical value.

        Morphologies and phenotypes in Bacillus subtilis biofilms

        In this study, we explored Bacillus subtilis biofilm growth under various conditions such as the use of substrates with different stiffnesses and nutrient levels using a well-developed optical imaging technique to spatially and temporally track biofilm growth. We also developed a quantitative method to characterize B. subtilis biofilm morphologies under various growth conditions. To determine biofilm rim irregularities, we used the dimensionless P2A ratio, defined as P2/4πA, where P is the perimeter and A is the area of the biofilm. To estimate biofilm thickness from transmission images, we developed a calibration procedure based on Beer- Lambert’s law and cross sectioning. Furthermore, to determine the distributions of different B. subtilis cell phenotypes during biofilm growth, we used a triple-fluorescence-labeled B. subtilis strain that expressed motility, matrix production, and sporulation. Based on this work, we are able to tune biofilm growth by changing its growing environment.

        Reinforced high-strength concrete square columns confined by aramid FRP jackets. part I: experimental study

        Although retrofitting and strengthening reinforced concrete (RC) columns by wrapping fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have become a popular technique in civil engineering, the study on reinforced high-strength concrete (HSC) columns is still not sufficient. The objective of these companion papers is to investigate the mechanical properties of reinforced HSC square columns confined by aramid FRP (AFRP) jackets under concentric compressive loading. In the part I of these companion papers, an experiment was conducted on 54 confined RC specimens and nine unconfined plain specimens, the considered parameters were the concrete strength, the thickness of AFRP jackets, and the form of AFRP wrapping. The experimental process and results are presented in detail. Subsequently, some discussions on the confinement effect, failure modes, strength, and ductility of the columns are carried out.

      • A Novel Parallel Dual-frequency Grid-connected Inverter Topology and EfficiencyAnalysis

        A novel parallel dual-frequency single-phase grid-connected inverter (PDF inverter) is proposed to improve the quality of the output current and reduce the loss of the grid-connected inverter. In the PDF inverter, there are two units which operate at different switching frequencies. The low-frequency unit has a low switching frequency (2kHz), which transfers electrical energy to the grid. The highfrequency unit operate at a high switching frequency (40kHz), and its current is reversed to the harmonic current of the low-frequency power unit. The principle and control strategy of the novel grid-connected inverter is presented. And the comparison of power loss of two inverters shows that the novel grid-connected inverter has higher efficiency than the LCL-type grid-connected inverter. These capabilities have been demonstrated by mathematical derivation and experiment. For the experiments, a 1500-W prototype has been built in the laboratory. Results obtained confirm the practicality and performance of the proposed inverter.
