A 60-year-old man was admitted to our hospital complaining of fever with chillness and anarexia for 12 weeks. Physical examination revealed supraclavicular lymphadenopathy and left inguinal lymphadenopathy. Abdominal CT scan showed the evidence of maked lymphadenopathy on retraperitoneal, external iliac, obturator, left inguinal, and celiac lymph nodes. A pathologic diagnosis of Ki-1(+) lymphoma was made by the biopsed supraclavicular lymph node because the node consisted of large cells with pleomorphic nuclei, scanty cytoplasm, large basophilic nucleoli, atypical vacuoli and large cells were positive for leukocyte common antigen, Ber-H2, marker, and B-cell marker.

Background : Exccssive sweating of the facial, Palms, axilla and soles, is a psychologically and occupationally distressing and sometimes disabling condition. VideoUassisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) is now mostly performed for treating of the facial, palmar and axillary hyperhidorsis. This study was designed to evaluate the results and complication of sympathicotomy of the primary hyperhidrosis. Material and methods : From June 1999 to May 2002, 55 patients ( 30 males and 25 females ) suffering from primary hyperhidirosis were operated. The mean age of patients was 24.0±6.0 years. Bilateral thoracoscopic sympathicotomy was resected the only T2, T2 & T3, onlY T3, T3 & T4 and T2, T3 & T4. The mean follow up period was 18±6.5 months. Results : Mean operation time was 61.2+25.0 minutes and the mean elevation of palmar temperature after sympathicotomy was 1.13±0.2℃. There were no operative deaths but some complication existed : 42 patients (76%) complained the compensatory hyperhidrosis, and 5 patients was developed the postoperative pneumothorax. Sweating decreased in 43% of the planter hyperhidrosis. Conclusion : Most of the patients were satisfied with the postoperative results of the thoracoscopic sympathicotoiny. We conclude that thoracoscopic sympathicotomy is a simple, safe and effective technique in primary hvPcrhidrosis, but satisfaction has been decreased by the compensatory hyperhidrosis; therefore, it is important to thoroughly explain the compensatory sweating. We recommend that the less extent of sympathicotomy decrease the incidence of compensatory hyperhidrosis.

Purpose: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) for asymptomatic gallbladder disease has been increasing since 1990 due to the development of LC technique. Moreover, it might be considered when someone with asymptomatic gallbladder disease needs emergency operation due to acute abdomen such as acute appendicitis. The aim of this study is to identify the efficacy of concurrent laparoscopic appendectomy with cholecystectomy. Methods: From January 1997 to June 2009, 40 patients underwent laparoscopic appendectomy with cholecystectomy at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital. 40 patients were enrolled in this study. We analyzed, retrospectively, clinical and diagnostic information, time and open conversion rate in operation, length of postoperation hospital stay, and complication rate. Results: The mean age was 44.53±15.34 and male to female ratio was 1 to 1.86. 5% of all patients underwent abdominal surgery and 20% of all patients had associated diseases. Most common associated symptoms and final diagnosis were right lower abdominal pain (72.5%) and simple gallbladder stone (62.5%). Mean operation time was 98.75±33.14 min. and there was no open conversion. Mean length of postoperation hospital stay was 5±2 days. There was one (2.5%) postoperative complication. Conclusion: Combined operation of laparoscopic cholecystectomy during laparoscopic appendectomy can be a good modality for patients with chronic gallbladder disease.
