A rigorous theoretical investigation has been carried out on the propagation of nonplanar (cylindrical and spherical) dust-ion-acoustic (DIA) waves in an unmagnetized dusty multi-ion plasma system containing nonextensive electrons, inertial negatively-charged heavy ions, positively-charged Maxwellian light ions, and negatively-charged stationary dust. The well-known reductive perturbation technique has been used to derive the modified Burgers-type equation (which describes the shock wave’s properties), and its numerical solution is obtained. The basic features (viz. polarity, amplitude, width, etc.) of the cylindrical and the spherical DIA shock waves are investigated. The basic features of the cylindrical and the spherical DIA shock waves are found to have been significantly modified in a way that depends on the intrinsic parameters (viz. electron nonextensivity, heavy-ion’s kinematic viscosity, heavy-to-light-ion number density ratio, electron-to-light-ion temperature ratio, etc.) of the considered plasma system. The characteristics of the cylindrical and the spherical DIA shock waves are observed to be qualitatively different from those of planar ones.

Crocodile farms are getting popular in Bangladesh in an economic point of view. In one of the farms, some crocodiles were found sick and three of them died between May and July in 2006. This investigation was performed to diagnose the cause of the death. Routine postmortem examination was conducted. Samples were collected in 10% neutral buffered formalin for histopathology and in falcon tube for microbiological study. Additional swabs were collected in nutrient broth. Histopathological and microbiological studies were conducted using routine procedures. In addition Giemsa, Gram and PAS stains were performed to detect the organism in tissues. Grossly, esophagus, trachea, lungs, liver, spleen, heart and kidney were congested. Intestine, rectum and colon were hemorrhagic. Clay colored material was found in colo-rectum. Purulent exudates in lungs and thick and cloudy pericardial fluid in pericardial sac were found. Histologically, multifocal granulomatous inflammation was evident in lung, liver, kidney, intestine and colon with bacterial colonies, fungal spores and hyphae. These bacteria were appeared as Gram negative. Fungal hyphae and spores were detected in liver, lungs and colon by using PAS stain. Bacteriologically, E. coli were isolated from lungs exudates, pericardial fluids and intestinal fluids. Therefore, it can be concluded that 3 crocodiles died due to E. coli septicemia concurrent with mycotic infection.

Two 20-membered penta- and hexadentate macrocycles containing one or two pyridine subunits, namely [20]aneNO2S2 (L1) and [20]aneN2O2S2 (L2), have been synthesized. Reaction of L1 with silver(I) nitrate afforded a unique 2:2 (M:L) disilver(I) complex [μ2-Ag2(L1)2](NO3)2 (1) in which two four-coordinate Ag atoms bridge two ligands to form a cyclic dimer. In contrast, an endo-dentate 1:1 monosilver(I) complexes [AgL2]X; [X=ClO4 (2) or PF6 (3)] which show isomorphous structures were obtained from the reactions of L2 with silver(I) salts.

Effect on the bio-mass and nutrient yield of Lemna perpusilla Torry was studied at two nutrient loading frequencies. Six polythene sinks ($6{\times}2{\times}0.5m^{3}$ area) randomly allocated to two treatments having three sinks in each treatment. Each sink containing $6{\times}2{\times}0.35m^{3}$ water body, was changed either daily with 12.6 kg anaerobically fermented cattle manure (effluent) or with 76 kg efluent at six-day interval. Media Kjeldhal-N (40 vs. 36 mg/L; p>0.05) and $NH_3$-N (9 vs 7 mg/L; p<0.05) concentration were higher in daily charged sinks than those charged at six-day interval. However, temperature ($28.48{^{\circ}C}\;vs.\;28.60{^{\circ}C}$) and pH (6.82 vs. 6.84) were sinilar in both groups of sinks. Biomass (93 vs. $80g/m^{2}/d$) and crude protein (1.24 vs. $1.11g/m^{2}/d$) yield were non-significantly (p>0.05) higher in the daily charged than 6-d interval charged ponds. However, dry matter (4.52 vs. 4.15%), organic matter (83 vs. 84%), crude protein (31.4 va. 29.6%) and organic carbon (47 vs. 47%) content were similar in both daily and 6-d interval charged ponds. There were no apparent relationships between the crude protein content of Lemna and the media Kjeldhal-N or $NH_3$-N concentration apparently due to saturated level of nutrient (N in particular). It was concluded that with the level of effluent used for two treatments, nutrient-loading frequency had no significant effect on the biomass and protein yield of Lemna. Technique described here can be used for year-round duckweed production from fermented cattle manure for feeding poultry/fish in smallholder production system.
Vibration of bilayered cylindrical shells with layers of different materials
S. H. Arshad,M. N. Naeem,N. Sultana,Z. Iqbal,A. G. Shah 대한기계학회 2010 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.24 No.3
In this analysis, a comparative study for natural frequencies of two-layered cylindrical shells was presented with one layer composed of functionally graded material and the other layer of isotropic material. Love’s thin shell theory was exploited for the straindisplacement and curvature-displacement relationships. For governing frequency equations, the Rayleigh-Ritz method was utilized to minimize the Lagrangian functional in the form of an eigenvalue problem. Frequency spectra were computed for long, short, thick, and thin cylindrical shells by varying the nondimensional geometrical parameters, length-to-radius and thickness-to-radius ratios for a simply supported end condition. Influence of different configurations of cylindrical shells on the shell frequencies was studied. For validity, the results obtained were compared with some results of isotropic and single-layered functionally graded cylindrical shells from the literature.

The effects of salt and bicarbonate solution on overall meat quality in beef biceps femoris muscle were investigated with the application of chilling and freezing conditions. Muscles were injected to a target of 120% of original meat weight with a solution containing 1.2 M sodium chloride, 0.25 M sodium bicarbonate and 0.1% ascorbic acid (pH 7.2). Half of the meat samples, considered as chill treatment and chill control, were stored at $4^{\circ}C$ up to five days; while the other half, frozen treatment and frozen control, were kept in a freezer at $-20^{\circ}C$ for seven days. Compared with untreated control, treated meats had higher water holding capacity (p<0.05), lower drip loss (p<0.05) and lower shear force (p<0.07) with higher overall acceptability (p<0.05) in sensory evaluation. Morphological observations demonstrated smooth and gummy meat surface due to the solubilization of myofibrillar proteins and the distortion of connective tissue in treated raw meats; and in the case of cooked meat, treatment caused the fragmentation of myofibrils, which might be responsible for a lower shear value in salt-bicarbonate treated beef biceps femoris muscle.

A New Mathematical Model for Optimum Production of Neural Stem Cells in Large-scale
Hossain, S.M. Zakir,Sultana, Nahid,Babar, S.M. Enayetul,Haki, G.D. The Korean Society of Toxicogenomics and Toxicopro 2007 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.3 No.2
Millions of individuals worldwide are currently afflicted with neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis which are caused by the death of specific types of specialized cells in the Central Nervous System (CNS). Recently, Neural Stem Cells (NSCs) are able to replace these dead cells with new functional cells, thereby providing a cure for devastating neural diseases. The clinical use of neural stem cells (NSCs) for the treatment of neurological diseases requires overcoming the scarcity of the initial in vivo NSC population. Thus, we developed a novel 3-dimentional cellular automata model for optimum production of neural stem cells and their derivatives in large scale to treat neurodegenerative disorder patients.

Oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel), is a destructive and highly polyphagous invasive fruit fly species of numerous fruit crops in global agriculture. Population genetic structure of this species from five different lo cations of Bangladesh was examined with other samples (collected from GenBank) from 15 sites of neighboring Asian countries. A fragment of 770 bp mitochondrial DNA cox1 was used to investigate the genetic diversity and the relationship between genetic patterns and geographical distribution of B. dorsalis. A total of 232 variable sites (33.23% of the 698 bp aligned consensus sequences) and 419 unique haplotypes were identified from 710 in dividuals. Indices of genetic diversity suggested that without exclusion from geographical areas, B. dorsalis retained a relatively high degree of genetic diversity. A demographic assessment [Tajimas’ D test, Fu’s Fs test and sum of square deviation (SSD values)] revealed that both current and historical variables performed a significant role in deciding the weak genetic structure with some exceptions. In Bangladesh, high levels of genetic diversity with a weak genetic structure indicated that the severity of this pest might increase in the future. Proper management techniques should be taken to overcome the future severity of this kind of destructive insect.
