        Pyoderma Gangrenosum in a Patient with X-Linked Agammaglobulinemia

        X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) is a primary im-munodeficiency disorder caused by germline mutations of B-cell tyrosine kinase (BTK) gene. It is characterized by de-creased serum immunoglobulins levels and circulating ma-ture B cells. This defect in humoral immunity leads to in-creased susceptibility to infection. Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is an uncommon, ulcerating, neutrophilic dermatosis. Here we report PG in an 8-year-old patient with XLA. The pa-tient received intravenous immunoglobulin treatment in conjunction with prednisone and topical application of 0.03% tacrolimus ointment and the ulcer was almost com-pletely healed in the 2 weeks of follow-up. The coexistence has been rarely reported. XLA may be a possible cofactor in the pathogenesis of PG. (Ann Dermatol 29(4) 476∼478, 2017)

        Reconstructing room scales with a single sound for augmented reality displays

        Perception and reconstruction of our 3D physical environment is an essential task with broad applications for Augmented Reality (AR) displays. For example, reconstructed geometries are commonly leveraged for displaying 3D objects at accurate positions. While camera-captured images are a frequently used data source for realistically reconstructing 3D physical surroundings, they are limited to line-of-sight environments, requiring time-consuming and repetitive data-capture techniques to capture a full 3D picture. For instance, current AR devices require users to scan through a whole room to obtain its geometric sizes. This optical process is tedious and inapplicable when the space is occluded or inaccessible. Audio waves propagate through space by bouncing from different surfaces, but are not 'occluded' by a single object such as a wall, unlike light. In this research, we aim to ask the question ‘can one hear the size of a room?’. To answer that, we propose an approach for inferring room geometries only from a single sound, which we define as an audio wave sequence played from a single loud speaker, leveraging deep learning for decoding implicitly-carried spatial information from a single speaker-and-microphone system. Through a series of experiments and studies, our work demonstrates our method's effectiveness at inferring a 3D environment's spatial layout. Our work introduces a robust building block in multi-modal layout reconstruction.

        The association study between CYP20A1, CYP4F2, CYP2D6 gene polymorphisms and coronary heart disease risk in the Han population in southern China

        Background: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a disease that seriously harms human health. Genetic factors seriously affect the CHD susceptibility. The CYP20A1, CYP4F2 and CYP2D6 are important drug metabolism enzymes in the human body. Objective: We aimed to explore the association between CYP20A1, CYP4F2, CYP2D6 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and CHD risk in the Chinese Southern Han population. Methods: Based on the 'case-control' experimental design (505 cases and 508 controls), we conducted an association study between 5 candidate SNPs selected from CYP20A1 (rs2043449), CYP4F2 (rs2108622, rs3093106, rs309310), CYP2D6 (rs1065852) and CHD risk. Logistic regression was used to analyze the CHD susceptibility under different genetic models. Multi-factor dimensionality reduction (MDR) was used to analyze the interaction of 'SNP-SNP' in CHD risk. Results: Our results showed that under multiple genetic models, CYP2D6 rs1065852 significantly increased the CHD risk in these participants who are ≤ 60 years old (OR 1.40, CI 1.07-1.82, p = 0.013), smokers (OR 1.40, CI 1.02-1.93, p = 0.039), or have family history (OR 1.24, CI 1.02-1.51, p = 0.035). CYP4F2 SNPs rs2108622 (OR 0.63, CI 0.43-0.93, p = 0.020), rs3093106 (OR 0.52, CI 0.29-0.92, p = 0.023), and rs309310 (OR 0.55, CI 0.31-0.96, p = 0.033) were potentially associated with the course of CHD patients. Conclusion: Our study found that CY2D6 rs1065852 has an outstanding and significant association with increased CHD risk. Our study provided data supplements for CHD genetic susceptibility loci, and also provided a new and valuable reference for CHD drug treatment.

        건축 디자인에서 날카로운 조형의 심미적 활용성에 관한 신경학적 연구 : 시각과 인지를 중심으로

        날카로운 조형은 위협과 관심이 공존하는 다중 시각 자극이다. 날카로움의 이런 특별한 속성은 건축적 활용의 한계를 초래해 왔다. 날카로움을 건축 조형으로 활용하려면 위협적인 느낌을 낮추면서, 미적 감각을 높이는 특성에 관한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 신경 과학의 연구를 통해, 두뇌의 시각인지 및 심미 처리 구조를 기술하였다. 이들 연구에 따르면 공간 빈도(Spacial Frequency)가 심미적 판단에 영향을 미친다. 이를 바탕으로 날카로움을 낮은 공간 주파수의 자극으로 변환함으로써 날카로운 조형에서 호감에 유발할 수 있다. 또한 높은 공간 주파수에서 조형적 복잡성을 높일 수도 있다. 이를 통해 가장자리 시각 정보를 강화해 리듬감을 높이며 건축적 심미성이 유발된다. 본 연구는 조형과 의미 인지 과정이 미의식에 미치는 영향을 파악해, 날카로움을 건축 조형에 활용하는 방식을 제시하려 했다. Sharp shapes s multiple visual stimuli attribute restricts its application in architecture. To apply the sharp modeling to architectural modeling, the characteristics of reducing the perception of threat and improving the sense of beauty should be studied. In the present study, the visual cognition and aesthetic processing structure of the brain are described by research on neuroscience. The findings reveal that spacial frequency will affect the aesthetic judgment. On this basis, the favorable feelings for sharp modeling can be aroused by transforming the sharpness into stimulus on low spacial frequency. In addition, it is also possible to improve the complexity of modeling at a high spacial frequency to strengthen peripheral visual information, enhance the sense of rhythm and induce the sense of beauty. Moreover, in the present study, it attempts to master the influence of modeling and significance cognitive process on aesthetic consciousness, and the way to apply sharp modeling to architectural modeling is also proposed.

      • Effective of high salt diet (HSD) on letrozole-induced polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) mice

        To investigate the effect of high salt diet (HSD, 8% NaCl) on the letrozole induced PCOS mice. At the total of experimental periods (35 days), all female C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into normal groups, PCOS group (ingested letrozole daily for 21 days) and HSD+PCOS group. The body weight (BW) and histologic changes were evaluated. The serum levels of testosterone (T), LH, E2, FSH, INS, TG, TC, LDL, HDL were determined by ELISA kits. Compared with normal groups, the BW, T, LH, INS, TG, TC LDL-C in PCOS rats were significantly increased, and the levels of E2, FSH and HDL-C were significantly decreased. In addition, compared with the PCOS group, the BW, T, LH, INS, TG, TC LDL-C in HSD+PCOS rats were significantly increased, and the levels of E2, FSH and HDL-C were significantly decreased. Our results showed that HSD exacerbates metabolic disorders and hormonal imbalances in PCOS mice.

      • 한국과 중국 소비자의 스마트폰 애플리케이션 사용동기 및 활용에 관한 연구: - 중국 베이징과 청다오, 한국 서울시 중심으로 -

        본 연구는 최근 급성장하는 스마트폰의 사용에 관한 연구로서 애플리케이션 활용을 분석하여 보았으며 특히 중국의 스마트폰 사용자의 시장 현황을 한국과 비교하여 보았다. 문헌조사를 통해 스마트폰에 관한 전반적인 이론적 고찰과 스마트폰 사용동기 변수 및 스마트폰 애플리케이션 활용 변수 두 가지를 추출하여 실증조사를 위한 기본 자료를 얻고자 하였다. 연구표본은 한국의 서울특별시와 중국의 베이징시(Beijing)·칭다오시(Qingdao)에 거주하는 한·중 소비자를 각100명을 선정하였으며, 편의표본추출로 선출하여 총200부를 유효 표본으로 사용하였다. 빈도분석과 기술통계를 실시하였고, 연구문제를 해석하기 위해 T-test, ANOVA, 상관분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국과 중국소비자 스마트폰 사용동기와 애플리케이션의 활용이 다르게 나타나며 사용동기에서는 한국소비자보다 중국소비자가 자료 및 정보습득, 커뮤니케이션/사회적 관계, 서비스 통합성, 습관성, 사용 편리성 등 동기로 인해 스마트폰 사용한다고 분석하였다. 애플리케이션 활용에 대하여 게임, 디지털 음악 및 전자책 등 측면에서 차이가 나타났으며 게임과 전자책 경우에는 한국소비자보다 중국소비자가 더 잘 활용하는 것을 보였고 디지털 음악에서는 한국소비자가 더 잘 활용하고 있다는 결과가 나타났다. 마지막으로 한ᆞ중 양국 소비자 애플리케이션에 대한 활용에 영향을 주는 요인들이 매우 다르게 나타났다. This study provides the theoretical background via the literature of the relevant pilot studies, and thus derives the motivation to use Smartphone and the variables in Smartphone application, with an empirical analysis by means of questionnaire. The location of questionnaire distribution under discussion lies in Seoul, Korea, and Beijing and Qingdao, China. This present thesis first makes a frequency analysis and technical statistics of the 100 questionnaires sampled from the total, and then discusses the questions concerned in this paper through T-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and regression analysis. The findings of the present research are as follows: 1. The motivation to use Smartphone for Koreans and Chinese is respectively as follows: in the case of the Korean consumers, Smartphoneare mostly used for the convenience in financial services in the sectors of banking, securities, etc., and in SNS service, since their use is just like the case of computer use that boasts of a flexible application. The failure to use those smart phones means, to some extent, being out of date. In addition, the convenience also lies in such cases as travelling by public transport, where the users can receive and send emails anytime and anywhere, kill the time, make a call and send instant messages. For the Chinese consumers, their use motivation mainly lies in those applications where users can, though the smart phones, read news of diverse kinds, enjoy SNS service, add and delete any applications at their disposal, conveniently receive and send emails anytime and anywhere, kill the time, make a call and send instant messages, and sometimes they use those phones simply under the recommendation of their neighbors and friends. 2. The choices for the applications of Smartphonefor the Korean and Chinese consumers are as follows: the similarity in their choices lies in the fact that for both the Korean and Chinese users, the most commonly chosen application is SNS, that is, both groups of users make SNS as their first and primary purpose of using smart phones. The difference in their choices lies in that for Chinese consumers of smart phones their use in the applications of game, digital music and e-book is more frequent than that of the Korean consumers.

        Composition Dependence of Structural and Magnetic Properties of Mn<SUB>3+x</SUB>Ga<SUB>1-x</SUB>C (0 ≤ x ≤ 1)

        Both Mn₄C (=Mn₃MnC) and Mn₃GaC have been studied previously. However, the reports on Mn<SUB>3+x</SUB>Ga<SUB>1-x</SUB>C (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) with intermediate compositions are very rare. In this work, the structure and magnetic properties of Mn<SUB>3+x</SUB>Ga<SUB>1-x</SUB>C prepared by using solid state reaction were studied systematically. High purity anti-perovskitetype Mn<SUB>3+x</SUB>Ga<SUB>1-x</SUB>C were obtained in the composition range of 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5, above which Mn₂₃C₆ precipitates and the fraction of Mn₂₃C₆ in the samples increases with increasing x. The structural stability, lattice parameters, and room temperature saturation magnetization of ferromagnetic Mn<SUB>3+x</SUB>Ga<SUB>1-x</SUB>C (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) decreases with increasing x. The Curie temperature of Mn<SUB>3+x</SUB>Ga<SUB>1-x</SUB>C (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) increases with increasing x. Most Mn<SUB>3+x</SUB>Ga<SUB>1-x</SUB>C with varied x exhibit near-zero coercivity and zero remanent magnetization. This work indicates that the temperature coefficient of magnetization of Mn<SUB>3+x</SUB>Ga<SUB>1-x</SUB>C may be tuned by tuning the fraction of the Ga atoms.
