A 3-Gb/s Equalizer with an Adaptive Swing Controller for TFT-LCD Interfaces
Miao-Shan Li,Yen-Chen Lin,Chai-Chi Liu,Ching-Rong Chang,Jyun-Yi Li,You-Sheng Lin,Ching-Yuan Yang 대한전자공학회 2019 Journal of semiconductor technology and science Vol.19 No.1
A 0.18-μm CMOS 3-Gb/s equalizer with an adaptive swing controller is presented for 4K2K large display panels to compensate a 24-dB channel loss. Employing the output-swing control technique, we propose the adaptive loop for the equalizer to improve adaptation accuracy without degrading the boost tuning and input swing ranges. Besides, cascading two bandpass filters (BPF) measured energy in a narrow range is much more accuracy than conventional highpass filters (HPF). The measured jitter of 3-Gb/s and 1.5-Gb/s data are 0.23-UI and 0.356-UI for 1.23-m FR4 board, respectively. The core area occupies 0.12-㎟ and the power consumption is 27-mW at 3 Gb/s from a 1.8-V supply.

Ching-Lieh Li,Chi-Hsiang Liu 대한전자공학회 2009 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2009 No.7
In this paper a dual-band PIFA (Planar Inverted-F Antenna) is investigated. By use of meander patch and defected ground. The antenna volume can be limited to 11×6×4㎣. The patch for the PIFA is located over the top surface of an FR4 substrate and is fabricated by wire-cutting machine. The goal is to implement a miniature dual-band antenna suited for the Bluetooth and wireless LAN applications, of which the operating frequencies are in the 2.4 and 5.2 and 5.8㎓.

In this paper, a detuning factor (DeFac) method is proposed to design the key parameters for optimizing the transfer power and efficiency of an Inductively Coupled Power Transfer (ICPT) system with primary-secondary side compensation. Depending on the robustness of the system, the DeFac method can guarantee the stability of the transfer power and efficiency of an ICPT system within a certain range of resistive-capacitive or resistive-inductive loads. A MATLAB-Simulink model of a ICPT system was built to assess the system's main evaluation criteria, namely its maximum power ratio (PR) and efficiency, in terms of different approaches. In addition, a magnetic field simulation model was built using Ansoft to specify the leakage flux and current density. Simulation results show that both the maximum PR and efficiency of the ICPT system can reach almost 70% despite the severe detuning imposed by the DeFac method. The system also exhibited low levels of leakage flux and a high current density. Experimental results confirmed the validity and feasibility of an ICPT system using DeFac-designed parameters.

Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignancy. Patients with well-differentiated thyroid cancers, such as papillary and follicular cancers, have a favorable prognosis. However, poorly differentiated thyroid cancers, such as medullary, squamous and anaplastic advanced thyroid cancers, are very aggressive and insensitive to radioiodine treatment. Thus, novel therapies that attenuate metastasis are urgently needed. We found that both PDGFC and PDGFRA are predominantly expressed in thyroid cancers and that the survival rate is significantly lower in patients with high PDGFRA expression. This finding indicates the important role of PDGF/PDGFR signaling in thyroid cancer development. Next, we established a SW579 squamous thyroid cancer cell line with 95.6% PDGFRA gene insertion and deletions (indels) through CRISPR/Cas9. Protein and invasion analysis showed a dramatic loss in EMT marker expression and metastatic ability. Furthermore, xenograft tumors derived from PDGFRA geneedited SW579 cells exhibited a minor decrease in tumor growth. However, distant lung metastasis was completely abolished upon PDGFRA gene editing, implying that PDGFRA could be an effective target to inhibit distant metastasis in advanced thyroid cancers. To translate this finding to the clinic, we used the most relevant multikinase inhibitor, imatinib, to inhibit PDGFRA signaling. The results showed that imatinib significantly suppressed cell growth, induced cell cycle arrest and cell death in SW579 cells. Our developed noninvasive apoptosis detection sensor (NIADS) indicated that imatinib induced cell apoptosis through caspase-3 activation. In conclusion, we believe that developing a specific and selective targeted therapy for PDGFRA would effectively suppress PDGFRA-mediated cancer aggressiveness in advanced thyroid cancers.

High-modulus PET filaments and thermal bonding are used to reinforce the puncture resistance stability of the insole composite. This study aims to discuss the influences of the amount of low-melting-point polyester fibers (LMPET) and needle densities (ND) on tensile, bursting, and quasi-static puncture resistance properties. Besides, significance of LMPET amount and ND on puncture resistance against flat-head (A), spherical-head (B), and pointed-head (C) probes are in particular investigated to simulate the diversified application environments for insoles. Research result shows that, LMPET amount significantly affects the static puncture resistance against three probes; ND only significantly influences the puncture resistance against Probe A and C. Thermal bonding significantly improves the puncture strength against Probe B with various LMPET amounts of insoles, but evidently increases the puncture resistance against Probe A and C when being punched at various ND. The amount of LMPET fibers has a positive influence on the puncture strength of insoles, and 70 wt% of LMPET provide the average static puncture resistance up to 342.6 N. The high-modulus resultant insoles have advantages of flexibility, ease of process, and bendability with a higher and more stabilized puncture resistances.

In order to improve the low velocity impact resistance, flexible PU foam composites (FPUC) with a sandwichstructure are proposed. The interlayer is composed of a concave-convex fabric structure while the top/bottom layers are madeof polyurethane foam (PU). The core is prepared as follows. Seven warp knitted spacer fabric types (WKSF) (WKSF.1-7) arelaminated with different number of layers to form cuboids, which are fixed firmly between two layers of low melting pointpolyester (LMPET) fabrics via hot melting. The effects of spacer yarn density, spacer yarn inclination angle, combination ofspacer fabrics, and number of lamination layers on the dynamic cushion performance are evaluated. With the impact energybeing 16 J, FPUs demonstrate an energy absorption level that is 19 % and 39 % greater than PU and WKSF. Furthermore,ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fabric can effectively enhance the surface strength. Finally, the results arecomputed via theoretical prediction formulae of dynamic buffer resistance is in conformity with the experimental test results.

Personalized genetic profiling has focused on improving treatment efficacy and predicting risk stratification by identifying mutated genes and selecting targeted agents according to genetic testing. Therefore, we evaluated the role of genetic profiling and tumor mutation burden (TMB) using next-generation sequencing in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC). The relapse mutation signature (RMS) and chromatin remodeling mutation signature (CRMS) were explored to predict the risk of relapse in patients with HNSC treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) with platinum-based chemotherapy. Patients in the high RMS and CRMS groups showed significantly shorter relapse-free survival than those in the low RMS and CRMS groups, respectively (p < 0.001 and p = 0.006). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that extranodal extension, CCRT response, and three somatic mutation profiles (TMB, RMS, and CRMS) were independent risk predictors for HNSC relapse. The predictive nomogram showed satisfactory performance in predicting relapse-free survival in patients with HNSC treated with CCRT.
