20세기 초 까르띠에의 아르데코 주얼리 디자인 특징 연구

At the beginning of the 20<sup>th</sup> century, Cartier developed Art Deco jewelry designs that have been used as design inspirations to this day. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the Art Deco jewelry designs of Cartier in the early 20<sup>th</sup> century. Regarding the research method, this study explored the jewelry designs from 1904 to 1939 by extracting 288 analysis subjects from Cartier’s exhibitions, auction picture books, and foreign books, and analyzed the characteristics in terms of design motifs, colors and materials. The results of the study are as follows. Regarding the design motifs, 73% were geometric motifs, and 66% were a combination of circular shapes and polygons, the most frequent. In terms of colors, 69% were chromatic in color, and vivid colors were mostly used in the order of red (24%), - green (19%), and - blue (14%). Of the materials, 92% of the metals consisted of platinum, and gemstones were used in the order of diamonds (41%), - onyx (13%), - emeralds (11%), - rubies (9%), and - sapphires (8%). In the early 20<sup>th</sup> century, Cartier’s Art Deco jewelry designs featured abstract and geometric motifs, vivid colors and strong contrasts, platinum and precious gemstones. This study is meaningful in that it explores the competitiveness of Cartier’s designs and provides practical ideas to combine Art Deco style with contemporary jewelry designs successfully.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between passenger travel demand and land use in Seoul. In particular, we attempt to examine the impacts of the structural changes in the socio-economic environment in Seoul since IMF at the end 1990’s on the passenger flow patterns. In order to examine the dynamic interrelationships between the passengers at the subway station and thirty six land use variables, we develop twelve models with various combinations of three years(2000, 2003, 2006) and four different data units. By applying multivariate regression analysis, we obtain twelve log-linear regression functions. In order to develop better regression model which explain more the passenger flows, we check the determinant coefficient R² and selected explanation variables at each model. In general, models using Gu as the regional unit for the land use variables give better explanation for the subway passenger demand. We examine also the changes in the satial distribution patterns of passenger flows and land use variables selected commonly in the models as the major passenger travel generators. Significant changes are detected both in the passenger flows and in the land sue patterns during this period. In particular, major central functions which are related with travel demand generation show the big increase in the Gangnam CBD area same as passenger travel demand, while they have decreased in the old CBD in the Gangbuk.

Muscle atrophy is characterized by the loss of muscle function. Many efforts are being made to prevent muscle atrophy, and exercise is an important alternative. Methylglyoxal is a well-known causative agent of metabolic diseases and diabetic complications. This study aimed to evaluate whether methylglyoxal induces muscle atrophy and to evaluate the ameliorative effect of moderateintensity aerobic exercise in a methylglyoxal-induced muscle atrophy animal model. Each mouse was randomly divided into three groups: control, methylglyoxal-treated, and methylglyoxal-treated within aerobic exercise. In the exercise group, each mouse was trained on a treadmill for 2 weeks. On the last day, all groups were evaluated for several atrophic behaviors and skeletal muscles, including the soleus, plantaris, gastrocnemius, and extensor digitorum longus were analyzed. In the exercise group, muscle mass was restored, causing in attenuation of muscle atrophy. The gastrocnemius and extensor digitorum longus muscles showed improved fiber cross-sectional area and reduced myofibrils. Further, they produced regulated atrophy-related proteins (i.e., muscle atrophy F-box, muscle RING-finger protein-1, and myosin heavy chain), indicating that aerobic exercise stimulated their muscle sensitivity to reverse skeletal muscle atrophy. In conclusion, shortness of the gastrocnemius caused by methylglyoxal may induce the dynamic imbalance of skeletal muscle atrophy, thus methylglyoxal may be a key target for treating skeletal muscle atrophy. To this end, aerobic exercise may be a powerful tool for regulating methylglyoxal-induced skeletal muscle atrophy.
Antihyperlipidemic Effect of Ginsenoside Rg1 in Type 2 Diabetic Mice

Ginsenoside Rg1은 인삼에서 분리한 약물학적인 활성을 가지는 물질이다. 본 연구는 Rg1이 제2형 당뇨병 모델 동물에서 혈당과 지질대사에 유익한 효과를 가지는지를 확인하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 10주령의 db/db 마우스에 Rg1을 10 ㎎/㎏ 농도로 15일간 경구투여한 결과 공복혈당이 감소하였고, 포도당 내성이 개선되었다. 특히 혈중 중성지방과 유리지방산이 유의적으로 감소하였고 혈중 HDL-콜레스테롤이 증가되었다. 또한 chimeric GAL4-PPARα receptor 활성 프로모터를 활성화시켰고 PPARα gene인 CPT-1 (carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1)과 ACO (acyl-CoA oxidase)의 발현을 증가시켰는데 이것으로 Rg1의 지질대사 개선이 PPARα 활성에 의한 지방산 산화에 의한 것임을 확인할 수 있었다. 모든 결과를 종합해 볼 때, Rg1은 제2형 당뇨병과 관련된 고혈당증과 고지혈증에 유용한 효과를 가짐을 확인하였다. Ginsenoside Rg1 is a pharmacologically active component isolated from ginseng. The goal of this study was to clarify the beneficial effects of Rg1 on glucose and lipid metabolism in diabetic animals (db/db mice). To accomplish this, ten week old db/db mice were administered 10 ㎎/㎏ of Rg1 for 15 days. Rg1 did not influence the weight of db/db mice when compared with vehicle-treated db/db mice. The administration of Rg1 lowered fasting plasma glucose, and improved glucose tolerance. Importantly, Rg1 markedly reduced both plasma triglyceride and free fatty acids, and increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations in db/db mice. Rg1 activated promoter activity of chimeric GAL4-PPARα reporter and increased expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) target genes such as carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1 (CPT-1) and acyl-CoA oxidase (ACO), which are involved in fatty acid oxidation. These findings indicated that improvement of lipid profiles by Rg1 may be associated with increased fatty acid oxidation via PPARα activation. Taken together, these results suggest that Rg1 could have beneficial effects for controlling hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia associated with type 2 diabetes.

공간계획의 수립을 위한 계획권역으로 기존에는 행정구역이 널리 활용되었다. 그러나 최근에는 주민들의 행태에 기반한 생활권을 계획권역의 단위로 활용하고자 하는 움직임이 대두되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 합리적인 방법으로 도시의 생활권을 설정할 수 있는 방법론을 개발하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 주민들의 이동행태에 기반한 생활권을 설정하고 하며, 이를 위하여 가구통행실태조사와 설문조사 자료를 활용하였다. 먼저 중생활권의 도출에 적합한 목적통행을 도출하고, 통행패턴에 근거한 R-mode 요인분석을 통하여 생활권을 설정하였다. 이후에 설문조사결과와의 비교를 통하여 방법론의 타당성을 검정하였다. 수원시를 대상으로 한 분석결과 14개의 중생활권이 도출되었으며, 도출된 생활권의 평균면적은 8,47,126㎡, 평균인구는 74,313명이다. 도출된 생활권을 설문을 통하여 도출된 인지적 생활권과 비교한 결과 대부분의 지역에서 높은 일치비율이 도출되었다. 1. CONTENTS (1) RESEARCH OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study is to develop a methodology to derive the mid-size neighborhood unit. Especially, this study attempts to develop a easy-to-use methodology. (2) RESEARCH METHOD This study used R-mode factor analysis to classified mid-size neighborhood unit. And the validity of methodology was verified by comparison with the cognitive neighborhood unit derived from the survey. (3) RESEARCH FINDING Suwon is made up of 14 mid-size neighborhood units. And the average area of these units is 8,47,126㎡ and the average population is 74,313. 2. RESULTS The analysis results are summarized as follows. First, as a result of R-mode factor analysis, 14 mid-size neighborhood units were derived. Second, these neighborhood units were similar to the cognitive neighborhood units derived from the survey. However, there was a difference in areas where large-scale development was made or areas where undeveloped areas were widely distributed.
