Effect of oral administration of methanolic extract from Scutellaria baicalensis root (SB) on the development of oxazolone-induced atomic dermatitis (AD)-like skin lesions in hairless mice was investigated. Mice were orally administered SB 250, 500 mg/kg/day, or dexamethasone 1 mg/kg/day for 33 days. Oral administration of SB inhibited the development of clinical symptoms, and reduced dermal mast cell infiltration, but did not show definite suppressive effect on elevation of serum total IgE level under experimental condition. Interleukin (IL)-6 level in serum and the mRNA expressions of IL-4, IL-13, IL-12, interfereon-γ, transforming growth factor-β, and fork head box P3 in draining lymph nodes were not significantly affected by SB administration,indicating SB could alleviate AD via the inhibition of mast cell infiltration.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of heritability on the craniofacial soft tissue cephalometric characteristics of monozygotic (MZ) twins, dizygotic (DZ) twins, and their siblings (SIB). Methods: The samples comprised Korean adult twins and their siblings (mean age, 39.8 years; MZ group, n = 36 pairs; DZ group, n = 13 pairs of the same gender; and SIB group, n = 26 pairs of the same gender). Thirty cephalometric variables were measured to characterize facial profile, facial height, soft-tissue thickness, and projection of nose and lip. Falconer’s method was used to calculate heritability (low heritability, h2 < 0.2; high heritability, h2 > 0.9). After principal components analysis (PCA) was performed to extract the models, we calculated the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) value and heritability of each component. Results: The MZ group exhibited higher ICC values for all cephalometric variables than DZ and SIB groups. Among cephalometric variables, the highest h2 (MZ-DZ) and h2 (MZ-SIB) values were observed for the nasolabial angle (NLA, 1.544 and 2.036), chin angle (1.342 and 1.112), soft tissue chin thickness (2.872 and 1.226), and upper lip thickness ratio (1.592 and 1.026). PCA derived eight components with 84.5% of a cumulative explanation. The components that exhibited higher values of h2 (MZ-DZ) and h2 (MZ-SIB) were PCA2, which includes facial convexity, NLA, and nose projection (1.026 and 0.972), and PCA7, which includes chin angle and soft tissue chin thickness (2.107 and 1.169). Conclusions: The nose and soft tissue chin were more influenced by genetic factors than other soft tissues.
Update on Current Treatment Options for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

This article reviews the various current treatment options of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a prevalent and disabling condition. The primary-source literature was reviewed using PubMed search, and secondary-source review articles and chapters were also used. Evidence from several studies suggests that both psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic therapies can be effective in PTSD. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are generally the most appropriate choice of first-line medication for PTSD, and effective pharmacotherapy should be continued for at least 12 months. Psychotherapy, especially cognitive behavior therapy, is found to be effective in the treatment of PTSD. In addition to those therapies, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, and transcranial magnetic stimulation would be relatively new treatment options for PTSD.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop a competency-based educational program for strengthening the competency of psychiatric nurses and evaluate its effects. Methods: The study used a quasi-experimental design. Participants included 64 psychiatric nurses in South Korea: 33 nurses (32 females, 1 male) in the experimental group and 31 nurses (26 females, 5 males) in the control group. A competency-based education program for psychiatric nurses was developed through a literature review and discussion with 12 experts. The program addressed eight topics and provided 24 hours of education over 4 days, for 6 hours each day. The collected data via questionnaires were analyzed statistically. Results: The education program enhanced overall clinical nursing competence and strengthened professional self-growth competence. The management and teaching competencies of both the experimental and the control groups also increased significantly. Conclusion: The findings of this study presented an educational program to strengthen the clinical competency of psychiatric nurses and it was proven that the education had a capacity-building effect.
Antiviral activity of gemcitabine against human rhinovirus in vitro and in vivo

<P>Rhinovirus, a major causative agent of the common cold, is associated with exacerbation of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Currently, there is no antiviral treatment or vaccine for human rhinovirus (HRV). Gemcitabine (2',2'-difluorodeoxycytidine, dFdC) is a deoxycytidine analog with antiviral activity against rhinovirus, as well as enterovirus 71, in vitro. However, the antiviral effects of gemcitabine in vivo have not been investigated. In the current study, we assessed whether gemcitabine mediated antiviral effects in the murine HRV infection model. Intranasal administration of gemcitabine significantly lowered pulmonary viral load and inflammation by decreasing proinflammatory cytokines, including TNE-alpha and IL-1 beta, and reduction in the number of lung-infiltrating lymphocytes. Interestingly, we found that the addition of UTP and CTP significantly attenuated the antiviral activity of gemcitabine. Thus the limitation of UTP and CTP by the addition of gemcitabine may inhibit the viral RNA synthesis. These results suggest that gemcitabine, an antineoplastic drug, can be repositioned as an antiviral drug to inhibit HRV infection. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.</P>

최근 보다 혁신적인 모빌리티 산업의 패러다임을 변화시키기 위한 시도들이 대두되고 있으며, 기존 2차원에 국한되어 있던 도심 모빌리티를 3차원 공간으로 변화시키기 위한 도심항공교통 (UAM) 도입에 관한 논의가 전 세계적으로 활발히 진행되고 있다. 한국형 UAM의 성공을 위해 공역, 버티포트, 항법, 통신 등과 관련된 연구는 관련 연구기관 주도하에 활발히 이루어지고 있으나, UAM 운항사의 운항 관리 개념 정립, 통제절차 개념 수립 등에 대한 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않고 있다. UAM의 상용화를 위해서는 복수의 UAM 운항자의 개별 시스템 개발의 기준이 될 수 있는 표준화된 운항 관리 개념 정립이 필요한 시점이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 UAM 특별법 미적용 사항을 살펴본 후 이로부터 운항사가 준비해야 할 사항과 기존 민항기 및 회전익 항공기의 관련 규정에 대해서 분석하고, 국내 저밀도 운항 관리 및 통제절차 개념 수립을 위한 적합한 방안을 제시하였다. 본 논문에서 제시한 초기 저밀도 환경에서의 UAM 운항 관리 및 통제절차 개념 수립 방안을 착안하여 추후 시범 운영 및 UAM 대중화에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. Recent efforts to revolutionize the mobility industry have sparked discussions worldwide on the introduction of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) to transform urban mobility, traditionally confined to two dimensions, into a three-dimensional space. While research related to airspace, vertiports, navigation, and communication pertinent to Korean UAM is actively pursued by relevant research institutions, there is a significant dearth in studies focusing on establishing concepts for operational management by UAM operators and formulating control procedures. The commercialization of UAM necessitates the establishment of standardized operational management concepts, pivotal as benchmarks for the individual system development among multiple UAM operators. This paper analyzes UAM exceptional law, operational readiness, existing regulations pertaining to commercial and rotary-wing aircraft, and proposes suitable approaches to formulate domestic low-density operational management and control procedures. By presenting strategies for conceptualizing operational management and control procedures in the initial low-density environment for UAM, this paper aspires to contribute to future trail operations and the wider adoption of UAM.
소통 의도에 따른 자율주행 차량 커뮤니케이션 체계 제안

최근 자율주행 시스템의 점진적인 발전으로 기존에 통용되어 오던 비상등과 상향등의 차량 간 커뮤니케이션 방식보다 좀 더 세분화되고 구체적인 커뮤니케이션이 가능할 것으로 보인다. 이러한 가능성에도 불구하고, 현재까지 기존의 도로 위 커뮤니케이션 방식을 탈피한 새로운 커뮤니케이션시스템을 제시한 연구가 미비한 실정이다. 다가올 미래의 자율주행 차량과 일반차량이 동시에 주행하게 되는 환경에서는 차량간 또는 차량과 도로 위 보행자들과의 상호작용을 고려한 커뮤니케이션 시스템의 재정립이 필요해 보인다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 디자인씽킹 방법론을 적용하여 자율주행 차량 운전자의 페르소나를 설정하고 도로 주행 시 발생할 수 있는 구체적인 커뮤니케이션 상황을 제시 및 분류하고, 커뮤니케이션 주체에 따른 분류와 우선순위 설정을 거쳐 자율주행 차량이 외부로 보내는 커뮤니케이션 신호 체계를 도출하고자 한다. 또한, 기존의 시각적 정보 송출을 통한 커뮤니케이션의 문제점을 파악하고, 커뮤니케이션 의도 체계화, 신호색상 체계 확립을 통해 통합 커뮤니케이션 체계를 제안하고자 한다.
