        This project is the 1st. stage for the foreshore reclamation at Jang-Hang area and its scope is to construct a seawall as outer facilities, road adjacent to the seawall and drainage gate. for the safe protections of the facilities at the reclaimed land hereafter, we adopted the mild slope rubble mound type for the seawall structure which was excellent in interrupting the wave overtopping, as a result of numerical & hydraulic model test about alternative 4 sections. For the flooding prevention of the reclaimed land, we planned the drainage system that could make the flood water level lower than the reclaimed land level. Also, we planned the eco-friendly waterfront area with 8 nature themes through the whole seawall sections.

        한국인의 항파상풍 항체 역가

        Inspite of immunization, TETANUS remains a disease with a high morbidity and mortality rate. Tetanus has been still occurred more frequently in developing countries where immunization programs are inadequate. In Korea, there is a routine immunuzation schedule with diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus(DPT) vaccines at 2,4,6 month after birth at 18 month. But further prophylactic programs are not exist. Moreover, we have usually used only passive immunization, tetanus antitoxin, as a prophylactic regimen for injured patients instead of guidelines of Center for Disease Control. The purpose of this study was to assess the baseline tetanus immunity state and to suggest the proper immunization schedule and adequate prophylactic guideline for injured patients in Korea. One hundred thirty one trauma patients from emergency department of Severance hospital from September to November of 1993 were included. Antietanus antibody titers of the patients were analyzed by ELISA assay. The mean antitetanus antibody titer was 0.728 ±0.236IU/mL. The titers were diminished rapidly with age. In pediatric group(age under 15), the mean titer was 3.251 ±0.426 IU/mL and in geriatric group(age over 64), the mean titer was 0.007 ±0.002 IU/mL which was below the minimal protective antibody titer(0.01 IU/mL). While all of the pediatric patients have protective antibody titer, only 69.2% of young adults(15-39, n=65), 56.7% of adults(40-64, n=30), and 57.2% of geriatrics(>65, n=14) have protective antibody titer. Our results suggest that tetanus prophylaxis is unnecessary in the age under 14. In other age groups, however, our data strongly support the need of prophyulaxis.

        This study is examined to find marketing strategies and research directions by verifying the important issues of satisfaction and post-utilization behaviour based on satisfaction attributes of family restaurant customers. The research was processed as follows. First. differentiation test of satisfaction attributes was conducted by demographic characteristics and characteristics of family restaurant utilization. Second, in order to find out what factors have a important influence, overall satisfaction and intention to revisit including suggestion, and intention to recommendation was taken. As a result of factor analysis, the findings are summarized as quality of food factor, atmosphere factor, event factor, attitude of employee service factor, utilization convenience factor, accessibility factor, and surroundings factor. In the relation to demographic characteristics, this factor doesn't have any significant differentiation but has significant relation with overall satisfaction. As influential factors, atmosphere, event, accessibility, and surroundings factors revealed to have significant relation. The quality of floods was analyzed as the most important influential factor to intention to revisit. Quality of foods, atmosphere, event, accessibility, and utilization convenience factors have influence on suggestion and intention to recommendation as influential factors. In conclusion, the results of this study indicate that family restaurant operators have to identify the importance of differentiated management to provide customers with foods, service quality of employee, and diverse extent in restaurant as well as easy transportation accessibility to the restaurant including interior and exterior facilities. Family restaurant marketer also establish the fundamentals of approach to persuade customers to retain the royalty of their existing customers.

        Mondor's disease has been regarded as an obliterative phlebitis usually affecting superficial vein of the chest wall. It is characteristic that the cord-like thrombosed vein which is red and tender at first changes into painless fibrous band. In the past, it was confused with lymphatic spread of carcinoma but it was confirmed that it was benign and related with the systemic diseases or cancer. The authors observed a 57-year-old female with Mondor's disease. 15 days ago, she notified the cord-like lesion on the right chest well, from right axillar fold to right iliac crest. 1. month later, the skin lesion much improved without special treatment.

        Roles of Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) in bacterial diseases

        Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) based cell therapy has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for treatment of several degenerative, infectious and non-infectious diseases. Numerous studies have demonstrated the remarkable immunosuppressive and antibacterial effects of MSCs both in vitro and in vivo, in animal models and in humans. However, the antibacterial effects of MSCs rely heavily on their paracrine factors rather than direct cell-to-cell contact and the effect is specific to disease and site of infection or injury. Furthermore, recent studies have demonstrated the double-edged sword effect of MSCs in bacterial infectious diseases. Despite their inherent potential for repair of damaged tissues, immunosuppression, and alleviation of various autoimmune as well as infectious diseases, MSCs also play a critical role in promoting persistent bacterial infection and disease progression. Therapeutic administration of MSCs successfully inhibited the bacterial growth and enhances survival by improved clearance of pathogenic bacteria in sepsis and pneumonic conditions. However, due to their abnormal transformation, they assist in long lasting survival and persistent infection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) and may also be responsible for progression of gastric cancer. This review focuses on recent advances that have broadened our understanding of MSC based therapy for bacterial diseases and provides new insight into the possible therapeutic targets of fatal bacterial diseases.

        Gene Expression of the In Vitro Fertilized or Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer Embryos Cultured in Medium Supplemented with Different Proteins or Energy Substrates

        Several cloned animals have been produced using somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) and have interested in producing the transgenic cloned animals to date. But still its efficiency was low due to a number of reasons, such as sub-optimal culture condition, aberrant gene expression and nuclear reprogramming. The purpose of this study was to analyze gene expression pattern in in vitro fertilized (IVF) or SCNT pre-implantation embryos. IVF- or SCNT-embryos were cultured in media supplemented with different proteins (FBS and BSA) or energy sources (glucose or fructose). Blastocysts from IVF or SCNT were analyzed using semi-quantitative RT-PCR in terms of developmentor metabolic-related genes. Culture medium supplemented different proteins or energy sources had affected on the expression of developmental or metabolic genes in the SCNT blastocysts.

        Expression of Immune-Related Genes during Loach (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) Embryonic and Early Larval Development

        Early life stage mortality in fish is one of the problems faced by loach aquaculture. However, our understanding of immune system in early life stage fish is still incomplete, and the information available is restricted to a few fish species. In the present work, we investigated the expression of immune-related transcripts in loach during early development. In fishes, recombination-activating gene 1 (RAG-1) and sacsin (SACS) have been considered as immunological function. In this study, the expression of the both genes was assessed throughout the early developmental stages of loach using real-time PCR method. maRAG-1 mRNA was first detected in 0 dph, observed the increased mostly until 40 dph. Significant expression of maRAG-1 was detected in 0 to 40 dph. These patterns of expression may suggest that the loach start to develop its function after hatching. On the other hand, maSACS was detected in unfertilized oocyte to molura stages and 0 to 40 dph. maSACS mRNA transcripts were detected in unfertilized oocytes, suggesting that they are maternally transferred.
