The mono(aryl)cyanoplatinum(II) complex $[Pt(CN)(C_6H_3{CH_2NMe_2}_2-26)]$, reacts with the dihalogens to yield the mono(aryl)cyanoplatinum complexes $[PtX_2(CN)(C_6H_3{CH_2NMe_2}_2-26)]$, (X = Cl, Br, I). The structural configuration of the two halogen atoms for a square planar platinum complex was studied by 1H-NMR spectroscopy and led to a mixture of trans and cis orientation. The trans orientation was found to be more stable in energy (1.33 kcal/mol) than the cis orientation by means of Extended H ckel calculations. On the base of a combination of the analysis of $^1H-NMR$, $^{13}C-NMR spectra and computational calculations it is assumed that the intermediate consists of an initial attack in the linear transition state, leading to the $S_{N}2$ type mechanism.
Bonding and Electronic Consideration in the Metal-Metal Bonded Edge Sharing Complexes

The molecular interaction of $W_2(NH_2)_4Cl_4$ fragment with chlorine ligands has been studied by means of extended Huckel calculations. We have extended the Huckel calculation to unknown edge-sharing $W_2(NH_2)_4Cl_4({\eta}-X)_2$ complexes (X = CO, H) in order to compare the stability of the complexes. The calculations showed that the size and electronic property of bridged ligand are important in determining the stability. The stabilities of the related metal-metal bonded edge-sharing complexes are discussed.

<P>Three new organic dyes that contain the dithienosilole (DTS) moiety as spacer have been synthesized and their photophysical/electrochemical properties, theoretical calculation and dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) performance have been investigated. The overall conversion efficiencies for DSSCs based on these dyes range from 6.73 to 7.50%, comparable to a (3–5′-[<I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-bis(9,9-dimethylfluorene-2-yl)phenyl]2,2′-bithiophene-5-yl}-2-cyanoacrylic acid (<B>JK-2</B>)-sensitized device (7.63%), fabricated and measured under the same experimental conditions. The DSSC constructed from one of the three compounds shows a higher open-circuit voltage (<I>V</I><SUB>OC</SUB>) compared to those of the other two dye sensitized solar cells due to an increased electron lifetime (<I>τ</I><SUB>e</SUB>) in the conduction band of TiO<SUB>2</SUB>.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Organic sensitizers bearing dithienosilole (DTS) segment as spacer, DTS-Me<SUB>2</SUB>, DTS-Ph<SUB>2</SUB> and DTS-MePh, exhibit solar conversion efficiencies of 6.73, 7.50 and 6.81%, respectively. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=b926163j'> </P>

Hydrocarbon solution of $(PPh_3)_2(CO)MOSO_2CF_3(M=Rh$, Ir)reacts rapidly with Pyrazine or 4,4'-bipyridyl to yield dinuclear metal complexes $[(PPh_3)_3(CO)M({\mu}-pyrazine)M(CO)(PPh_3)_2](SO_3CF_3)_2$ (I: M= RhH; III: M=Ir) or [$(PPh_3)_2$(CO)M(${\mu}$-44'-bipyridyl)M(CO)$(PPh_3)_2](SO_3CF_3)_2$, (II: M=Rh; IV: M=Ir), respectively. Compounds, I, II, III, and IV were characterized by $^1H-NMR$, $^{13}C-NMR$, $^{31}P-NMR$, and infrared spectrum. Ethanol solution of $(PPh_3)_2(CO)MOSO_2CF_3$ (M=Rh, Ir) also reacts with $(TBA)_2$M'$(CN)_4$ (M'=Pd, Pt) to yield trinuclear metal complexes [$(PPh_3)_2$(CO)dM-NCM'$(CN)_2$CN-M(CO)$(PPh_3)_2]$ (V : M=Rh, M'=Pd; VI : M=Rh, M'=Pt; VII: M=Ir, M'=Pd; VIII: M=Ir, M'=Pt). The trinuclear metal complexes V, VI, VII, and VIII are bridged by the cyanide groups. The infrared spectrum of V, VI, VII, and VIII supports the presence of the bridged cyanide and terminal cyanide group.

<P>The synthesis and characterization of new push-pull chromophores, bisDMFA-diTh-CA, bisDMFA-diTh-MMN, and bisDMFA-diTh-MIMN from 5′-(4-(bis(9,9-dimethyl-9<I>H</I>-fluoren-2-yl)aniline (bisDMFA) electron donating, dithiophene bridging, and various electron withdrawing moieties, cyanoacrylic acid (CA), methylene malononitrile (MMN), and methylene indenylidene malononitrile (MIMN), were demonstrated for efficient solution processed BHJ solar cells. The photophysical properties, the hole mobilities from the space charge limitation of current (SCLC) <I>J</I>-<I>V</I> characteristics, and surface morphologies of these materials/PCBM bulk-heterojunction films were also investigated. The best power conversion efficiency of 3.66% (±0.12) with <I>J</I><SUB>sc</SUB> = 11.82 mA/cm<SUP>2</SUP>, <I>FF</I> = 0.35, and <I>V</I><SUB>oc</SUB> = 0.90 V was observed in the BHJ film fabricated with the bisDMFA-diTh-MMN/C<SUB>71</SUB>-PCBM composite with 3% 1-chloronaphthalene (CN), which is an efficiency ∼82% and ∼49% higher than before and after post-annealing without treatment of CN, respectively.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>New push-pull chromophores, bisDMFA-diTh-CA, bisDMFA-diTh-MMN, bisDMFA-diTh-MIMN were synthesized and a power conversion efficiency of 3.66% was observed in the BHJ film fabricated using 3% 1-chloronaphthalene. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c1jm10667h'> </P>
APPLICATION OF CONSTRAINT LOGIC PROGRAMMING TO JOB SEQUENCING

In this paper, we show an application of constraint logic programming to the operation scheduling on machines in a job shop. Constraint logic programming is a new genre of programming technique combining the declarative aspect of logic programming with the efficiency of constraint manipulation and solving mechanisms. Due to the latter feature, combinatorial search problems like scheduling may be resolved effciently. In this study, the jobs that consist of a set of related operations are supposed to be constrained by precedence and resource availability. We also explore how the constraint solving mechanisms can be defined over a scheduling domain. Thus the scheduling approach presented here has two benefits: the flexibility that can be expected from an artificial intelligence tool by simplifying greatly the problem; and the effciency that stems from the capability of constraint logic programming to manipulate constraints to prune the search space in an a priori manner.
