Systematic Study on KeV-Neutron Capture Reaction of Se Isotopes

Systematic measurements and calculations of neutron capture cross sections and capture gamma-ray spectra of all stable Se isotopes ^(74, 76, 77, 78, 80, 82)Se were performed in a neutron energy region from 10 to 600 keV, using a pulsed neutron source by the ^7Li(p,n)^7Be reaction. Highly isotopically enriched Se samples and standard Au samples were used. The capture gamma rays from each sample were detected with an anti-Compton NaI(Tl) spectrometer by means of a time-of-flight method. The capture cross sections were derived by using a pulse-height weighting technique and the standard capture cross sections of ^(197)Au. The capture gamma-ray spectra were obtained by unfolding the observed capture gamma-ray pulse-height spectra. In the calculations, a computer code, POD, was utilized. The calculated results were compared with the experimental results. The present experimental and calculated results were compared with previous measurements and evaluated values.

The neutron capture cross-sections and the capture $\gamma$-ray spectra of $^{155}$Gd and $^{157}$Gd were measured at the 3-MeV Pelletron accelerator of the Research Laboratory for Nuclear Reactors at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in the energy range from 10 to 550 keV. Pulsed keV-neutrons were produced from the $^7$Li(p,n)$^7$Be reaction by bombarding the lithium target with the 1.5-ns bunched proton beam from the Pelletron accelerator. The spectrum for the neutrons incident on a capture sample was measured by means of a time-of-flight method with a $^6$Li-glass detector. Capture $\gamma$-rays were detected with a large anti-Compton NaI(Tl) spectrometer by employing a time-of-flight method. A pulse-height weighting technique was applied to the observed capture $\gamma$-ray pulse-height spectra to derive the capture yields. The neutron capture cross-sections were determined relative to the standard capture cross-section of $^{197}$Au. The results were compared to other measurements and the evaluated values. The capture $\gamma$-ray spectra were obtained by unfolding the observed capture $\gamma$-ray pulse-height spectra.
²³Na(pγ)²⁴Mg반응을 이용한 ²⁴Mg의 13034 keV 공명준위의 분기율 및 스핀 결정

²⁴Mg 핵준위의 성질을 조사하기 위해, Ep=1424 keV에서 ²³Na(pγ)²⁴Mg 반응을 일으켰다. 입사 양성자 가속을 위해서 동경공업대학의 3 MeV Pelletron 가속기를 사용했고 방출된 감마선을 측정하기 위해 고순도(HP) Ge 검출기(식경 78.7 mm, 길이 86.5 mm)를 이용하였다. 표적은 순수 ²³Na을 Ta 판에 진공증착하여 만들었고, 표적내에서 빔의 에너지 손실은 1.381∼1.551 MeV의 입사 양성자에 대해 대략 150 keV이었다. 검출기의 에너지에 대한 검출효율 결정과 에너지 교정을 하기 위해 27Al(p,γ)28Si 반응(Ep=992 keV)의 감마선 에너지 스펙트럼을 이용했다. 본실험에서 ²⁴Mg 13054, 13034, 13965 keV의 세 공명준위를 얻었다. 특히 13034 keV 준위로부터 4239 keV, 5235 keV, 7617 keV, 9008 keV 준위로 전이할 때 각각의 분기율은 24.8±0.2%, 63.6±0.3%, 10.1±0.1%, 1.5±0.1% 이었다. 13034→4239 keV 전이에서 방출되는 감마선의 각분포를 측정한 결과 13034 keV 준위의 스핀값은 3+으로 결정되었다.

A pulse-height weighting technique was applied to the measured capture $\gamma$-ray pulse-height spectra to derive the capture yields. The capture cross-sections were obtained by using the standard capture cross-section of $^{197}$Au. The present results were compared with the previous measurements and with the evaluated values of ENDF/B-VII-b2 and JENDL-3.3.
Measurement of Neutron Capture Cross Section and Gamma-Ray Spectra of ^(88)Sr in keV Energy Region

The neutron capture cross section of ^(88)Sr at incident neutron energies E_n = 10 - 89 keV and 510 keV has been measured by the time-of-flight method. Capture γ-rays were detected with an anti-Compton NaI(Tl) spectrometer and the pulse height weighting technique was applied to derive the neutron cross section as a function of incident neutron energy. Capture γ-ray spectra were also measured. The obtained capture cross section was compared with previous experimental data and evaluated data from ENDF/B-VII.0.
Plastic 섬광검출기를 이용한 중성자의 분해능 및 광출력 연구

Plastic 섬광검출기의 중성자에 대한 Response function을 작성하기 위한 기초연구로써, 중성자의 에너지에 따른 검출기의 분해능을 조사하였다. 또한 중성자에 의한 광출력을 측정하여 전자에 의한 광출력과 비교함으로써 중성자 에너지와 전자 에너지 사이의 관계식을 구하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다른 연구자들과 비교함으로써 그 신뢰성을 확인하였으며 앞으로, Plastic 섬광검출기의 중성자에 대한 응답함수를 구성하는데 매우 중요한 자료가 된다. 또한 이 응답함수를 이용하여 unfolding 과정을 거치면 중성자 파고스펙트럼으로부터 중성자의 에너지 스펙트럼을 얻을 수 있다. In order to determine the response function of a plastic scintillator, we studied the resolution of a detector as a function of neutron energy. We also obtained a relation between the neutron energy and the electron energy by comparing the light output due to a neutron with that due to a neutron with that due to a electron. Using an unfolding process, we can obtain the spectra of the neutron energy from that of the neutron pulse height.

The present results were in good agreement with previousmeasurements. However, the evaluated values of ENDF/B-VI for 162;164Dy were more than threetimes higher than our measurements. The neutron capture cross-sections of $^{165}$Ho were measured in the energy region from 10 to 90 keV. Pulsed keV-neutrons were produced via the $^{7}$Li(p,n)$^{7}$Be reaction by bombarding the lithium target with a 1.5-ns bunched proton beam from the 3-MV Pelletron accelerator of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. The neutron energy, having a continuous spectrum, was measured by using a time-of-flight method and a $^{6}$Li-glass scintillation detector. The gamma-rays emitted from the reaction were detected by using an anti-Compton NaI(Tl) spectrometer. A pulse-height weighting technique was applied to observe the capture gamma-ray pulse-height spectra to derive the capture yields. The neutron capture cross-sections were determined relative to the standard capture cross-sections of $^{197}$Au. The present results were compared with previous measurements and with the evaluated values of ENDF/B-VII-b2 and JEF-3.1
