        골프장의 난지형 잔디에 발생하는 Large patch의 발병 특성

        This investigation was conducted to develop an integrated disease management system against large patch disease occurred in a golf course. Large patch, brown patch, and Rhizoctonia blight sometimes are used interchangeably by turfgrass managers and researchers, Large patch disease of zoysiagrass is caused by a soilborne fungus called Rhizoctonia solani. Although this fungus is very similar to the one that causes brown patch disease of cool-season turfgrasses in mid-summer. Large patch development is favored by high thatch and soil moisture. Avoid overwatering the turfgrass, especially in the fall or early spring. Poorly-drained areas are very susceptible to injury from large patch and should be reconstructed (draining tiles, etc) to avoid soil saturation. However, control of yellow patch with fungicides is normally not recommended because the disease has only cosmetic effects and symptoms are usually very short-lived. Therefore, we reviewed the symptom of large patch to look for control method by soil management method.

      • GG-32 : A comparison of loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) using a ring-shaped loop versus a right-angled triangular loop

        목적: The objective of our study was to compare the resection margin (RM) status when using different loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) techniques for the treatment of biopsy-proven, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) grade 2 and CIN3 patients. 방법: We retrospectively collected the clinicopathological data of patients who underwent LEEPs at our institute from August 2005 to March 2014. Two-hundred and seventy-eight patients with a postoperative pathological diagnoses of CIN3 and ≤ CIN2 were analyzed. In type A surgery, a ring-shaped loop was used with ball electrode coagulation after the excision. If the first pass failed to remove the entire lesion, separate loop excisions for the intracervical portion were performed with different sized loops. Monsel`s solution was applied to the cervical wounds (N = 148). In type B procedures, a right-angled triangular loop and a cold coagulator (120℃) were used for 10 to 20 seconds after the excision without applying a fibrin sealant or Monsel`s solution (N = 130). 결과: The mean LEEP depth was larger after type A surgery (2.17 and 2.00 cm, respectively; p=0.039). Thirty-day postoperative severe hemorrhage (SH) was more frequent after type A surgery (26.4% and 13.8%, respectively; p=0.010). The negative RM rate was higher after type B surgery (68.9% vs. 82.3%, p=0.010). Based on a multivariate analysis, a higher positive RM was associated with the surgery type (p=0.010, odds ratio (OR) = 0.449 (95% confidence interval (CI) 0.243-0.827)) and a postoperative pathological diagnoses of CIN3, independent of the surgery types (p=0.013, OR = 2.529 (1.217-5.258)). LEEP depth and 30-day postoperative SH were not associated with RM status (p=0.063 and 0.121, OR = 1.509 (0.978-2.327) and 0.544 (0.252-1.174)). 결론: Our study suggests that LEEPs using a right-angled triangular loop could reduce positive RMs.

        Characterization of Kinetics of Urea Hydrolysis in A Newly Reclaimed Tidal Soils

        It is imperative to study the hydrolysis of urea in high saline-sodic condition of a newly reclaimed tidal land in order to overcome the problems associated with use of urea fertilizer. The methodology adopted in this study tried to get a convenient way of estimating rate for N transformation needed in N fate and transport studies by reviewing pH and salt contents which can affect the microbial activity which is closely related to the rate of urea hydrolysis. The hydrolysis of urea over time follows first-order kinetics and soil urease activity in reclaimed soils will be represented by Michaelis-Menten-type kinetics. However, high pH and less microorganisms may delay the hydrolysis of urea due to decrease in urease activity with increasing pH. Therefore, the rate of urea hydrolysis should adopt Vmax referring enzyme activity (E0) accounting for urease concentration which is indicative for urea hydrolysis, especially in a high saline and sodic soils.

        This investigation was performed to determine the hydraulic conductivity coefficient and water holding capacity for a specified compaction forces which are the amount of mechanical energy applied to the porous granule (PG) volume. Most current specifications of minerals and perlite as growth media require to be compacted to a specified density, which in general is equivalent to a certain percentage of laboratory compaction. The water holding capacity of the saturated PG was very large at potential above <SUP>-1</SUP> bar compared with perlite, but very little water remained below this value. The water holding capacity and hydraulic conductivity characteristics of graded PG amended with the ground coir less than 2 mm in diameter were also determined from pressure outflow data. The saturated hydraulic conductivity of the saturated and compacted PG was slightly lower by more than one tenth order of magnitude at equal matric potentials of perlite, but when expressed on the basis of equal water deficits, the conductivity of PG was higher at all but the smallest deficits than those of perlite.

        게르마늄강화효모가 혈청지질 및 면역세포변화에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 게르마늄강화효모(germanium: 3,210 ppm, 400 ㎎×3회/day)가 인체의 혈청지질 및 면역세포 변화에 미치는 효과를 평가를 목적으로 50~75세의 남녀 50명을 대상으로 임상실험을 실시하였으며, 게르마늄강화효모 복용 전후에 따른 혈청지질 수준의 변화 및 면역증진 기능평가에 중요한 역할을 하는 NK세포, B세포, T세포 및 항암기능 효과를 지니는 TNF-α의 생성의 변화를 확인하였다. 대조군과 보충군 모두 보충 전, 4주, 8주 후의 헤모글로빈, 헤마토크릿, 적혈구 지표(red blood cell indices) 및 백혈구 수, 혈소판, 혈당, ALT, AST, ALP, BUN, Cr, TB, TP, Alb, A/G ratio, γ-globulin(g/dL)이 보충에 따른 유의적인 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 총 콜레스테롤, LDL 콜레스테롤 및 HDL 콜레스테롤은 보충 전, 후에 따른 유의적인 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 중성지방의 경우 대조군에서는 보충 전, 후에 따른 유의적인 차이는 나타나지 않았으나, 게르마늄강화효모 보충군에서는 보충 전에 비해 보충 8주 후에는 p<0.05 수준에서 유의적으로 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. B세포의 경우 대조군에서는 보충 전, 후에 따른 유의적인 차이는 나타나지 않았으나, 게르마늄강화효모 보충군에서는 보충 전에 비해 보충 8주 후에는 p<0.05 수준에서 유의적으로 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. TNF-α의 경우 대조군에서는 보충 전, 후에 따른 유의적인 차이는 나타나지 않았으나, 게르마늄강화 효모 보충군에서는 보충 전에 비해 보충 8주 후에는 p<0.05 수준에서 유의적으로 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 게르마늄강화효모가 인체의 면역증진에 각종 암, 성인병의 예방과 치료, 인체 면역력의 증진 등 건강증진을 위한 새로운 기능성 원료로의 활용이 기대되며, 이에 대한 지속적인 연구가 사료된다. This study was established to investigate the effect of germanium-fortified yeasts on the serum lipid composition and immune system of human body. All 50 subjects with the age range of 50~75 were entered in this clinical trial for 6 months. The effects were determined by the proliferative responses of immune-mediated cells, T-cell, B-cell and NK-cell during daily supplementation with/without germanium-fortified yeast. The results of hematology and blood chemistry didn’t show any significant differences during admini-stration periods. Serum lipid compositions also didn’t show any significant differences during administration periods except triglyceride (TG) and VLDL-cholesterol. TG and VLDL-cholesterol levels were increased significantly by the consumption of germanium-fortified yeast (p<0.05). Immune mediated T-cell and NK-cell didn’t increased in both control and test group supplemented with germanium fortified yeast, while B-cell increased in the germanium fortified yeast group after 8 week (p<0.05). Also TNF-α increased in the group of germanium fortified yeast after 8 week (p<0.05) but not in the control group. From the above results, germanium fortified yeast is expected to be useful on the improvement of the cellular immune response and protection of organs from various chronic diseases.

        Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT, Osler-Weber-Rendu disease) is a rare autosomal dominant disease characterized by heterogenous multisystemic dysplasia of the vascular tissue. Prevalence of HHT is 1 in 5,000∼8,000. HHT commonly presents with recurrent epistaxis, but may have more serious consequences if visceral vascular beds are involved. Approximately 30∼50% of HHT cases also present with pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM). Spontaneous hemothorax is less common, and PAVM is one of the causes leading to hemothorax. Our case involved an 18-year-old female who had suddenly developed right chest pain. The reason for chest pain was due to right spontaneous hemothorax accompanied by PAVM in the right middle lobe. The patient was additionally diagnosed with HHT upon examination of her family history, specifically through her mother`s symptom that included recurrent epistaxis and mucosal telangiectasia.

        In this article, we reviewed properties of reclaimed tidal soil and fate of nitrogen in its soil. The results were summarized as followings. Most of the soil derived from the fluvio-marine deposit were silly textured soils. The EC of the Saemanguem soil were ranged from 14.7 to 33.9 dS m?¹, pH was 7.7. The organic matter content was low with 1.5 g ㎏?¹. The cation exchange capacity was 7.2 c㏖ ㎏?¹ and exchangeable sodium percent was high with range 45.1 % to 56.2%. High sodium concentration caused poor drainage. The salinity significantly affects efficiency of N fertilizer in reclaimed tidal soil.

        다양한 광원이 배추 내 Carotenoid와 Glucosinolate 함량에 미치는 영향

        BACKGROUND: Chinese cabbage biosynthesizes various phytochemicals including carotenoids and glucosinolates. Environmental stress has a major effect on the growth and yields of vegetables, and can significantly affect nutritionally important phytochemicals. Phytochemicals of plants are influenced by light, temperature, carbon dioxide, and growing conditions. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of various light sources on carotenoid and glucosinolate contents in Chinese cabbage. METHODS AND RESULTS: [Experiment I] Set the control (field control, FC) on the ground. Using acrylic sunlight, experiments were set up transparency box (field transparency, FT), red box (field red, FR) and blue box (field blue, FB). [Experiment II] Set the control (chamber control, CC) in the greenhouse. Using plant growth chamber with artificial light, experiments were set up LED red (chamber red, CR), LED blue (chamber blue, CB), LED mixed red+blue (chamber red+blue, CRB) and fluorescent (chamber fluorescent, CF). After plant growth, Chinese cabbage was harvested at 110 days after sowing (DAS). The status of plants growth (leaf length, width, fresh weight etc.) was immediately investigated. Carotenoid and GSL contents were analyzed by HPLC. [Experiment Ⅰ] Results documented that the ranges of total carotenoid contents were 25.39 ~ 58.80 mg/kg dry wt for lutein, 0.84~ 4.22 mg/kg dry wt for zeaxanthin, and 3.85~18.71 mg/kg dry wt for β-carotene. Lutein was the highest for the content and the largest for the variation as well. [Experiment II] Results documented that the ranges of total carotenoid contents were 24.66~137.96 for lutein, 2.51~20.65 for zeaxanthin, and 8.40~49.80 mg/kg dry wt for β-carotene. The total carotenoid contents of CR (156.62) and CB (115.90) were 1.6~2.3 times larger than the other treatments, and β -carotene content was about twice as high as that of the other treatments on the CR (38.74 mg/kg dry wt.). [Experiment I] Total GSL content was the highest in FT (19.76) that was higher 1.7 times than the lowest treatment (11.39 μmol/g dry wt.). [Experiment II] The total content of GSL was highest in CRB (4.19) and lowest in CF (2.88 μmol / g dry wt.). In the CRB, total GSL contents (4.19 μmol/g dry wt.) was the highest. CONCLUSION: Total and individual carotenoid and GSL contents in Chinese cabbage show significant differences under different light sources. Red and blue lights contribute to significant carotenoids expression and antioxidant activity for nutrition and health benefits. These results concluded that the introduction of varying lights affected the synthesis of important nutrient compounds in Chinese cabbage. It is predicted that the application of good light source enhances the accumulation of functional compounds.
