$CuInSe_2$ thin film were prepared in order to clarify optimum conditions for growth of the thin film depending upon process, and then by changing a number of deposition conditions and heat treatment conditions variously, structural and electrical characteristics were measured. Thereby, optimum process variables were derived. For the manufacture of the $CuInSe_2$, Cu, In and Se were deposited in the named order. Among them, Cu and In were deposited by using the sputtering method in consideration of their adhesive force to the substrate, and the DC/RF power was controlled so that the composition of Cu and In might be 1:1, while the annealing temperature having an effect on the quality of the thin film was changed from $200\;^{\circ}C$ to $350\;^{\circ}C$ at intervals of $50\;^{\circ}C$.

<P>TiO2 is a wide band-gap semiconductor (3.4 eV) and can only absorb about 5% of sun light in the ultraviolet light region, which largely limits its practical applications because of the lower utility of sun light and quantum yield. In order to move the absorption edge of TiO2 films to visible spectrum range, we have made the impurity level within a band-gap of TiO2 thin film by introduction of oxygen vacancy. Oxygen-defected TiO2 photo-catalyst have prepared by reactive sputtering with the partial pressure of Ar:O2 = 76.7:23.3 approximately 98.5:1.5 ratios. As a result, we could have the impurity level of about 2.75 eV on condition that oxygen partial pressure is 2.9%. And the photocatalytic activity was realized at 400 nm wavelength.</P>
UPO: A Chair That Lifts Hips While Standing Up Using the Four-Link Mechanism

Objective: The objective of the study is to develop a portable assistance device to help elderly users reduce strain on the knee and leg muscle while the elderly are standing up. Background: The pose of standing up from a chair is a basic movement, but the elderly often have difficulty standing up due to their weak muscles. We focus on designing a solution that helps the elderly reduce physical problems and support them standing up. Method: This study consists of three parts. Part I explores the way to reduce the refrain of leg muscle while standing up from a chair. In the process of structural development, we found that the moment is minimized when user pushes down the armrests due to a decrease in the force acting on the center of mass. In part II, a user test of 20 participants was carried out to rank the order of comfort of two stimuli: the chair with fixed armrests and the chair with the four-link mechanism that we created-in three different ways; (1) to stand up without touching armrests, (2) to stand up by pushing down on fixed armrests, and (3) to stand up by pushing down on armrests and being supported by the mechanism. To examine the statistically significant differences among the rank means, a Friedman test was conducted. In part Ⅲ, we analyze the results of the user test and interview feedbacks, focusing on establishing a design strategy from UPO and visualizing it in 1:1 scale. Results: In part I, we decided to develop the four-link mechanism. The bottom is lifted up as the link rises. In part II, based on the rank data, we empirically found that UPO was assessed as the most comfortable during the stimuli. The thigh angle is smaller and the bottom of UPO is separated from a seat. In part III, after assessing the results and feedbacks, we created a visualization strategy for UPO: light, friendly, and novel. Conclusion: The portable and non-mechanical UPO comprises a four-link system that lifts the user"s hips while standing. It can help users avoid knee and leg muscle strain. Its universal design considers the elderly’s difficulties. Application: In a future study, combining light and durable material in UPO is expected to increase its usability. And this study is an opportunity to design various types of standing assistance devices.

Background/Aims: Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) has been widely accepted as a curative treatment of early gastric cancer (EGC). The aim of this study was to determine the usefulness and limitations of EMR for treatment of EGC by analyzing our own experience. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 51 EGC lesions (45 mucosal and 6 submucosal cancers) from 49 patients who had undergone EMR between Oct. 1997 and Aug. 2002 at Inha Universtiy Hospital. Results: Among 45 lesions of mucosal cancer, enbloc resection was performed in 13 lesions and piecemeal resection in 32 lesions. Complete resection rates of enbloc and piecemeal resection were 84.6% and 43.8%, respectively (p=0.012). Complete resection rate of the lesions smaller than 1 cm in size was 71.4%, 1 to 2 cm in size 52%, and greazter than 2 cm in size 37.5%. Complete resection rates of well, moderately, and poorly differentiated EGC were 59.4%, 71.4%, and 16.7%, respectively (p=0.048). Thirty-three patients underwent a follow-up endoscopy at I month after EMR and two were found to have residual cancers. One patient who had a piecemeal EMR showed cerical and abdominal lymph node metastasis 10 months after EMR. Conclusions: In selected patients with EGC, EMR can be a curative treatment modality. However, complete resection rate is low in large sized and poorly differentiated EGCs and when piecemeal resection is performed. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2003;42:453-460)

태양전지는 태양광에너지를 바로 전기에너지로 전환시키는 소자이다. 과거에 많이 연구되던 고품질의 단결정 소자는 높은 에너지 변환효율을 가지고 있으나 가격 경쟁력이 크게 뒤져 일반화되지 못하였다. 최근에는 다결정 태양전지의 응웅 가능성에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되어 오고 있다. 이중 CuInSe₂는 여러 가지 좋은 물성을 가지고 있어서, 저가의 고효율 태양전지를 위한 광흡수층 재료로 가장 주목받고 있다. CuInSe₂ 화합물 박막을 제조하기 위해 단위원소를 spttering법 과 Evaporeation법을 사용하여 증착하고 전기로에서 열처리 공정을 사용하여 single-phase 화합물 CuInSe₂ 박막을 얻고자 하였다.

본 연구는 노인기 체력이 성공적인 노후생활 및 삶의 질에 중요하다는 인식과「국민체력100 사업」속에 노인기의 프로그램이 추가됨에 따라 노인 체력수준을 측정할 수 있는 검사 방법을 개발하고, 측정을 통해 얻어진 자료를 토대로 성별ㆍ연령별 체력평가 기준을 개발하고자 수행되었다. 우리나라 노인기 체력검사 배터리는 신체상태에 대한 사전 질문지와 혈압 측정, 신장, 체중, 신체질량지수(BMI)의 체격 측정, 악력, 의자에앉았다일어서기, 의자에앉아3m표적돌아오기, 앉아윗몸앞으로굽히기, 8자보행, 6분걷기(또는 2분제자리걷기)의 체력측정으로 구성되었다. 서울, 경기지역 남녀노인 600명을 대상으로 1주일 간격으로 2회 반복 측정하여 검사항목의 신뢰성을 확인하였다. 본 검사에서는 전국의 남녀 노인 4,000명의 동의를 얻어 측정하였으며, 각 항목의 평균, 표준편차 및 Cajori 5단계 평가기준을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study is to develop the test battery on physical fitness of Korean elderly person, and the criteria of evaluation of it according to sex and age group. The test battery is consisted with 3 parts. The first part includes PAR-Q(Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) and blood pressure. The second part includes 3 physique items-height, weight and BMI(Body Mass Index). And the last part includes 6 physical fitness items - grip test, 30 seconds sit-stand test, 3m sit-walk, and return test, sit and reach test, 2 minutes stationary march(or 6 minutes walk), figure 8 walks. The battery is convinced to be suitable for testing Korean elderly person by preliminary measuring the 600 elderly individuals and analyzing the reliability of the data which are obtained separately with one week interval. After main test and statistical analysis for 4,000 elderly person, mean, S.D and criteria for each item are obtained as the results of battery.
