The correlation between plantar pressure and low back pain evaluation by digital foot scanner

The pathology of low back pain (LBP) is anatomically and functionally related with the postural balance. Thus, it is surmised that foot plantar pressure is important in such balance. In this study, we investigated the correlation between plantar pressure and LBP. A total 125 college students (50 male students and 75 female students, aged from 20 to 29) participated in this study. Based on pain scale, groups were divided into two: control group (n=27) and LBP group (n=98). The foot plantar pressures were measured by two examiners. For measurements of the left foot, intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC 3,1) was0.75,and ICC3,1 for the right was0.75. The Pearson coefficient between the pain scale and the index values of plantar foot pressure was 0.469 (p<0.000). In the present study, the reliability of two examiners using AssociateⓇ Platinum V7+ Digital foot scanner was fairly good. The significant correlation was found between pain scale and index values of plantar foot pressure. These results suggested that the measurement of plantar pressure using AssociateⓇ Platinum V7+ Digital foot scanner might be a helpful method for examining LBP.
The Correlation between Plantar Pressure and Low Back Pain and the Validity of Digital Foot Scanner

The purposes of this study were to measure the index values of plantar foot pressure applied on both legs in standing position and to explore if there was correlation with low back pain, and further to examine the reliability of digital feet scanning devices. A total 125 college students(50 male students and 75 female students, aged from 20 to 29) participated this study. The foot plantar pressures were measured by AssociateⓇ Platinum V7+ Digital foot scanner. The reliability of AssociateⓇ Platinum V7+ Digital foot scanner was measured by two inspectors. Index values of plantar foot pressure measured at standing position were higher in the low back pain group then the normal population. Hereupon, it has been confirmed that back ache influenced on the plantar foot pressure. There was also a correlation between low back pain and foot pressure(r = 0.93, p < 0.01). There was also correlation between foot pressure and pain in standing position(r = 0.47, p < 0.01). In addition, according to the result of reliability on the AssociateⓇ Platinum V7+ Digital foot scanner, measured SEM was 3.22 on both groups along with MAD of 1.98±0.14 on each group as well. In addition, two groups had the same ICC3,1 as 0.75. In addition, it has been identified that there was a high reliability on the AssociateⓇ Platinum V7+Digital foot scanner by examining variables other than ICC3,1. This study showed a higher plantar in standing position under imbalanced condition. Therefore, it suggests maintaining a proper posture and precaution with exercise through education in a daily life. In addition, the results and methodology of this study could be served as a criteria used for measuring and evaluating postural imbalance of college students.
공공디자인을 위한 옥외광고물 개선방안에 관한 연구-서울과 동경의 옥외광고물 중 가로형과 돌출형을 중심으로-

상점과 상품의 내용을 한눈에 알아볼 수 있게 하고 판매의욕을 불러일으키는 효과를 가지고 있는 옥외광고물은 시각적 커뮤니케이션을 목적으로 제작되며, 도시 미관을 형성하는데 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 그러나 도시 미관 전체를 생각하면서 디자인되어야 할 옥외광고물이 업주의 이기주의로 무조건 크게 하거나 주위의 분위기와 상관없이 눈에 띠는 색채를 사용하면서 도시 경관을 해치고 있으며, 무분별한 옥외광고물의 사용은 주목성을 저하시켜 브랜드 자체의 고유성을 상실시키고 있다. 이러한 문제점의 제기로 본 논문은 동경의 도시 경관에서 볼 수 있는 공공디자인을 중심으로 비교 분석을 하게 되었다. 일본은 옥외광고물을 우리나라의 약 2배 이상을 설치하고 있으나 도시경관을 해치지 않고 오히려 도시의 문화적 요소로 미관을 형성하고 있었다. 같은 건물 내에서는 텍스트 크기와 서체, 컬러도 통일감을 주고 있었으며, 주변 건물과 조화롭고 정렬되어 있었다. 하지만 일본도 많은 시행착오를 겪었다. 1911년에 법률 제70호 광고물취체법을 시작으로 해서 1949년 6월 법률 제 189호로 옥외광고물법이 제정, 시행하였으며, 11차 이상의 개정을 되풀이 하면서 오늘에 이르고 있다. 간판은 도시 경관을 형성하는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 무분별한 간판의 사용은 도시 전체 이미지를 하락시키는 결과를 낳는다. 우리나라는 2006년 11월 `공공디자인에 관한 법률안`을 발의하는 등 공공디자인 육성과 발전에 관심을 가지고 있다. 특히 2007년 초 국회 공공디자인 포럼에서 도시 경관을 가장 심하게 저해하는 요소로 옥외 광고물의 오염에 관한 문제가 거론되었다. 건축가 루이스 칸은 “도시는 소년이 그 속을 거닐며 자기가 일생 동안 무엇을 하는 것이 좋은지, 바로 그 가르침을 찾아볼 수 있는 장소”라고 했다. 이처럼 많은 사람들에게 영향을 줄 수 있는 것이 도시 환경이며, 공공디자인은 그것을 만드는 사람들과 수용하는 사람들 모두에게 공공의 `가치`를 부여해야 한다. 본 논문의 요즘 심각하게 거론되고 있는 옥외 광고물의 분석과 문제점을 시각적인 요소로 접근하였으며, 서울과 동경의 옥외광고물을 비교하여 개선 방안을 제시해 보았다. Outdoors advertisement that have the effect of identifying specific stores and induce purchase behavior are produced with the purpose of visual communication and play an important role in forming the image of a city. However, when outdoors advertisement that should be designed taking into consideration the overall image of the city are being made to be obnoxiously big and bold due to the selfishness of businesses and shops and are destroying the view of the city through the use of bright colors that clash with the atmosphere of the city. Such thoughtlessness use of outdoors advertisement makes the viewer feel a sense of disapproval and even makes it difficult to read the signs. With such problems being brought up, this study compared and analyzed the city image of Japan and was able to identify serious differences. There is twice as much outdoor advertisements installed in Japan than in Korea but they appear to have order in their layout. Within the same building, similar size of text, font, and color are used for a sense of unity and are arranged so that they also do not clash with surrounding buildings. However, Japan had also experienced many trials and errors. In 1911, Japan began with its legislation no. 70 for regulating advertisements and in June of 1949, Japan instituted and implemented legislation no. 189 for regulating outdoor advertisements which went through over 11 amendments to reach today. Thoughtless use of outdoors advertisement results in deteriorating the overall image of the city. Therefore, it can be concluded that the active support of the government is needed in order to preserve the image of the city.

In digital information based society, the internet accelerates the stream of information and creates new methods as a means of digital communication. Development of digital media is changing existing life patterns, which affects individuals and societies depending on who gets good information faster. Such information is remembered in various forms. For instance, it is seen by eyes, touched, felt by mouths, smelled by noses, and stored in minds. Especially, more than 80% of all information gained from outside is recognized by visual senses, which indicates that vision plays the most important role in this regard. Therefore, visual design plays the important part in effectively delivering a lot of information, which is the very goal of design, and thus principles and elements regarding design are applied to stimulate visual senses. Among such elements, color is vital in recognizing and sensing things. Color affects a lot not only design factors but also emotions and feelings of human, which shows the influence is over all general aspects of life. Thus, design utilizing such visual principles of color is made use of as a means of communication as well as esthetic effects. Color brings a great influence on the formation of identity. Especially, main pages and sub pages with same colors in the space called a `web` bring about the sense of harmony, efficient information expression, and formation of identity. This study comparatively investigates the top ten sites among portal sites in Korea regarding how color contributes to the formation of color and recognition. As a result, it turned out that the top three portal sites play a better role in forming identities by means of color than the 5th and lower sites. Besides, the designs were regarded as improving reliability and satisfaction. Color is one of the design factors stimulating visual senses. Among a number of design factors, color plays a crucial role in forming identity, and an effective communication tool to improve the efficiency of information expression. Therefore, under the premise of supposition that claims a design element of color has significant effect in acknowledging object, the purpose of this study is to prove that color greatly contributes in forming identity by examining current top ten portal sites.
