<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Thin-film composite mixed matrix membrane (TFC MMM) with functionalized carbon nanotube (fCNT) blended in polyethersulfone (PES) support layer was synthesized via interfacial polymerization and phase inversion. This membrane was firstly tested in lab-scale integrating seawater desalination and wastewater reclamation forward osmosis (FO) process. Water flux of TFC MMM was increased by 72% compared to that of TFC membrane due to enhanced hydrophilicity. Although TFC MMM showed lower water flux than TFC commercial membrane, enhanced reverse salt flux selectivity (RSFS) of TFC MMM was observed compared to TFC membrane (15% higher) and TFC commercial membrane (4% higher), representing membrane permselectivity. Under effluent organic matter (EfOM) fouling test, 16% less normalized flux decline of TFC MMM was observed compared to TFC membrane. There was 8% less decline of TFC MMM compared to TFC commercial membrane due to fCNT effect on repulsive foulant–membrane interaction enhancement, caused by negatively charged membrane surface. After 10 min physical cleaning, TFC MMM displayed higher recovered normalized flux than TFC membrane (6%) and TFC commercial membrane (4%); this was also supported by visualized characterization of fouling layer. This study presents application of TFC MMM to integrated seawater desalination and wastewater reclamation FO process for the first time. <P>Cellulose acetate membrane has been applied to reverse osmosis for desalination due to chlorine tolerance and biofouling resistance. Since it requires optimized synthesis condition for application, we investigated the effect of different conditions on membrane performances. It was found that polymer concentration, solvent ratio, and evaporation time were critical to determine membrane selectivity and permeability. Based on the study, optimized conditions were obtained, which were 14 wt% of polymer concentration, 1:2.(of ratio of 1,4-dioxane to acetone, and 30 s of evaporation time. Further, functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were applied to the optimized bare membrane in order to enhance the performances. The composite membranes were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and contact angle measurement. It was found that the MWCNTs influenced the morphology and surface chemistry of the membrane. This study could contribute to develop a commercial composite RO membrane with nanomaterial for desalination application.</P>
한국과 일본의 클럽하우스를 이용하는 정신 장애인의 임파워먼트 인식에 관한 비교 연구

이 연구는 한국과 일본의 클럽하우스 이용자들을 대상으로 국제비교연구를 수행함으로써 그들이 인식하는 임파워먼트의 수준과 그 차이를 파악하고 현행 정신장애인의 임파워먼트 실천에 관한 앞으로의 방향 설정을 위한 유용한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 한일 클럽하우스 기관에 속한 총 182명의 정신장애인의 임파워먼트의 인식 수준을 측정하고, 그 차이를 비교분석하였다. 그 결과, 한일간 클럽하우스 이용자들의 전체 임파워먼트 수준에 있어서 한국과 일본 양국이 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였으며(p<.01), 임파워먼트 하위 영역 모두에서 ‘자기가치감 및 통제감’, ‘힘-무력감’, ‘행동화 및 사회정치적 요인’의 순으로 한국클럽하우스 이용자들이 일본이용자들보다 높게 나타났다. 클럽하우스 이용자들 모두 임파워먼트의 하위영역 중 ‘행동화 및 사회정치적 요인’에서 가장 점수가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 정신장애인의 임파워먼트 실천에 있어 실천적 함의를 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한일 국가간 모두 현재 추진 중인 지역사회중심 정신보건으로의 패러다임 전환이 과연 내실있게 진행되며 본래의 가치를 실현해 가고 있는지에 대한 현실진단의 필요성을 제시해 주었다. 둘째, 한일 국가간 모두에서 행동화 및 사회정치적 요인이 높고, 힘-무력감 요인이 낮은 결과들을 통해 사회적 차원에서의 보다 거시적인 임파워먼트 전략의 강조와 입원과정에서의 당사자의 권리를 보장하도록 하는 정책과 제도적 변화를 위한 적극적인 노력이 더욱 요구된다. 셋째, 일본과 비교하여 볼 때, 한국은 제도적인 차원에서 고연령층의 정신장애인들이 함께 정신보건서비스를 받을 수 있도록 지원하며 개선해나가는 노력이 필요하다. 마지막으로 클럽하우스의 이용이 재발 및 재입원율에 큰 효과가 있음을 볼 때, 정신보건서비스체계에서 클럽하우스모델과 같은 임파워먼트의 실천이 보다 강조되어야 할 것이다.

Aims: Trans-arterial radioembolization (TARE) is a form of radiation therapy performed by selective intra-arterial injection of microspheres loaded with Yttrium-90 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Emerging evidence on body composition suggests that sarcopenia might be predictive of outcomes in HCC patients. The aim of this study is to identify prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) in patients with HCC undergoing TARE. Methods: This is a single center retrospective study on consecutive HCC patients undergoing TARE from Jul 2009 to May 2019. Using pre-treatment plain computed tomography imaging, the total cross-sectional area (cm2) of abdominal skeletal muscle at the third lumbar vertebra was measured. The skeletal muscle index (SMI) was calculated by normalizing muscle area to patient height. Results: A total of 82 patients were included in the study (mean age 66 years). 28 patients (34.1%) had portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT), of whom 20 (24.3%) had PVTT involving main trunk or first-order branches. 47 patients (57.3%) were classified as sarcopenia (low SMI). Median follow-up was 16.2 months (IQR 7.9-35.0). Median 5-year OS was 28.3 months (95% CI 24.2-32.3) and median 12-month PFS was 7.0 months (95% CI 4.8-9.2). In univariate analysis, sarcopenia, presence of PVTT, prior treatment experience, and multifocal tumors were associated with poor 5-year OS (all P<0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that the only variables independently associated with OS were PVTT (HR, 3.12; 95% CI, 1.64-5.93, P<0.01) and sarcopenia (HR, 2.24; 95% CI, 1.15-4.39, P=0.02). PVTT (HR, 2.81; 95% CI, 1.52-5.18, P<0.01), sarcopenia (HR, 2.69; 95% CI, 1.44-5.03, P<0.01), and large tumor (≥10 cm) (HR, 2.68; 95% CI 1.48-4.86, P<0.01) were independent predictors of PFS in multivariate analysis. Conclusions: TARE is an effective therapy for patients with advanced HCC. In patients undergoing TARE, Sarcopenia and PVTT are independent predictors of both OS and PFS.

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is known as a bacterium that can cause skin infections, respiratory system infections, and sinusitis; however, it can exist as a normal flora rather than a pathogen. Recently, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) infections have emerged in the community as a new variant of community-associated (CA)-MRSA. In the present study, S. aureus and MRSA were isolated and cultured by collecting samples from facilities and environments where students and educational personnel have multiple contacts on university campuses; specifically, the nostrils and hands of college students were tested from July to September of 2019. The molecular properties of the isolated MRSA were analyzed, and the one MRSA strain was isolated from the university campuses. One MRSA that was isolated and cultured on campus was the mec complex group A and staphylococcal cassette chromosome (SCC) mec type II, which is a characteristic of healthcare-associated (HA)-MRSA, and SCCmec type V, which is a characteristic of CA-MRSA. This result was similar to other studies wherein the SCCmec type II was detected in SCCmec typing analysis in CA-MRSA. To confirm whether there is a new variant of CA-MRSA in the Republic of Korea, additional follow-up studies on the analysis of virulence factors of MRSA are needed by additionally separating CA-MRSA from the body parts of university students and educational personnel.

By employing the depth contrast detection algorithm, the 3d perception information display method for the 3D camera is proposed in this paper. We apply the stereo matching algorithm to the pre-defined contrast detection focus points for the real time operation. The depth contrast is obtained from the depth differences and the estimated real distance between the clusters of the points. The proposed method provides the useful information while taking a 3D picture for having a better 3D perception.
