The effect of flow rate, microwave power, and humidity of purge gas on microwave regeneration ofagricultural based activated carbon saturated with toluene and acetone was investigated. To comparewith microwave heating, conductive heating was also employed to follow the effect on adsorptioncapacity, regeneration ratio, desorption rate, time and energy consumption. Desorption rate of constantpower microwave heating was 32.9% per minute, which was 20 and 40 times higher than constanttemperature microwave and conductive heating, respectively. Energy consumption of microwaveheating (constant power) was only 4.5 kJ/g. Adsorption isotherms data can be well fitted with Dubinin–Radushkevich model.

Tanshinone IIA (Tan IIA) is a pharmacologically active substance extracted from the rhizome of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge (also known as the Chinese herb Danshen), and is widely used to treat atherosclerosis. The pregnane X receptor (PXR) is a nuclear receptor that is a key regulator of xenobiotic and endobiotic detoxification. Tan IIA is an efficacious PXR agonist that has a potential protective effect on endothelial injuries induced by xenobiotics and endobiotics via PXR activation. Previously numerous studies have demonstrated the possible effects of Tan IIA on human umbilical vein endothelial cells, but the further mechanism for its exerts the protective effect is not well established. To study the protective effects of Tan IIA against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), we pretreated cells with or without different concentrations of Tan IIA for 24 h, then exposed the cells to 400 μM H2O2 for another 3 h. Therefore, our data strongly suggests that Tan IIA may lead to increased regeneration of glutathione (GSH) from the glutathione disulfide (GSSG) produced during the GSH peroxidase-catalyzed decomposition of H2O2 in HUVECs, and the PXR plays a significant role in this process. Tan IIA may also exert protective effects against H2O2-induced apoptosis through the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway associated with the participation of PXR. Tan IIA protected HUVECs from inflammatory mediators triggered by H2O2 via PXR activation. In conclusion, Tan IIA protected HUVECs against H2O2-induced cell injury through PXR-dependent mechanisms.

Proteolysis of grass carp sarcoplasmic, myofibrillar, and stromal proteins by 5 commercial proteases were studied. Sarcoplasmic and myofibrillar protein could be well hydrolyzed by Alcalase 2.4 L to reach high protein recoveries (PR) (71.86±2.46 and 80.77±3.05%, respectively),while the maximum PR for stromal protein was only 42.83±2.84%. However, stromal hydrolysates, containing mostly 6-10 kDa fraction, exhibited higher ·OH scavenging activities due to its high content of antioxidant-assisting amino acids. Alcalase 2.4 L and pancreatin 6.0, which produced hydrolysates with relative high degree of hydrolysis (DH), were used for further hydrolysis of whole grass carp protein with the assistance of response surface methodology (RSM). The results showed that serine proteases (Alcalase 2.4 L and pancreatin 6.0) could produce sarcoplasmic, myofibrillar, or stromal hydrolysates with relatively high PR, DH, and strong ·OH scavenging activity, which may be used to prepare antioxidant hydrolysates from grass carp.

An experimental study is performed on the microstructure transformation induced by rapid laser welding in the differentregions of Zr61.4Cu27.8Al4Ni6Y0.8bulk metallic glass (BMG). The laser input energy has a remarkable influence on themicrostructure and microhardness of the Zr-based BMGs. The microstructures in different regions of as-welded joints arediverse. Crystallization happens in heat-affected zone (HAZ) with crystalline dendritic phase of CuZr, which results in thedeterioration of the microhardness to 434.9 ± 17.1 HV in HAZ, much lower than that of parent material as 517 ± 5.0 HV. Meanwhile, the element profiles indicate that intragranular segregation of Cu element occurs during the crystallization process. In the center of molten zone (MZ), the structure is fully amorphous and its hardness is close to that of parent material. In the region transiting from MZ to HAZ, some nano-grains with an average size of 20–50 nm are identified. In addition, several flower-like nanostructured grains of Y2O3phase with a size ranging from 50 to 80 nm are formed in MZ’s matrix. The nanocrystallization is believed to be responsible for the enhancement of the Vickers hardness up to 560.1 ± 8.4 HV inthis region.
WHY PACKAGE TOURS FALL IN POPULARITY:EVIDENCE FROM CHINA’S OUTBOUND TOURISM MARKET
Yong Chen,Markus Schuckert,Haiyan Song,Kaye Chon 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2014 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2014 No.2
This study develops a model of the market life cycle of package tours, explaining that such tours inherently have low tourist satisfaction which results in a decrease in market share. The model is based on the proposition that tourist satisfaction depends on the extent to which their preferences are fulfilled at the destination, which in turn is determined by their knowledge of its attributes. An analysis of data on China’s outbound tourism market from 1993 to 2010 shows that as tourist satisfaction at the destination increases, the market share of inclusive package tours declines. This suggests that tourist satisfaction can predict tourists’ subsequent choice of a package tour. As tourist satisfaction increases due to the improved information in the market, such package tours will be gradually substituted for independent travel or entirely new packages, or replaced by travel to a new destination.
