      • Concurrency Control for Transaction Management in Mobile Computing

        데이터베이스 시스템에서 기존의 동시성 제어전략은 통신 중단이 빈번히 발생하는 모바익 컴퓨팅 환경 하에서는 부적절하다. 모바일 컴퓨팅에서는 거래들을 처리하기 위한 시간이 극히 제한적이다. 이러한 시간을 가장 효율적으로 활용하기 위해서는 단기거래위주의 처리가 바람직하다 통신 중단으로 인한 Service Handoff는 특히 단기거래인 경우 모바일 거래들의 성능을 저하시킬 수 있다. 이타적 잠금 기법은 lock/unlock연산 이외에 donate 연산을 사용하기 때문에 단기거래 들에 대해 효율적이다. 모바일 컴퓨팅에서 이타적 잠금 기법을 사용했을 경우 단기거래의 성능은 향상될 수 있다. Traditional concurrency control strategies for database system are inappropriate for mobile computing environments in which communication disconnection could occur frequently. The time available to access transactions may be extremely limited in mobile computing. In order to ensure that this time is utilized most effectively, the short-lived transactions must be a main stream of transactions. Service handoffs which occur due to communication disconnection, could degrade the performance of mobile transactions especially for short-lived transactions. Altruistic locking protocol is in its nature favorable to short-lived transactions since it applies the donation of locks to long-lived transactions as early as possible. Performance for short-lived transactions could be improved when we applied altruistic locking to mobile computing.

        Depletion of Inositol Polyphosphate 4-Phosphatase II Suppresses Callosal Axon Formation in the Developing Mice

        The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerve fibers that con-nects the two cerebral hemispheres and is essential for coordinated transmission of information between them. Disruption of early stages of callosal development can cause agenesis of the corpus callosum (AgCC), including both complete and partial callosal absence, causing mild to severe cognitive impairment. Despite extensive studies, the etiology of AgCC remains to be clarified due to the complicated mechanism involved in generating AgCC. The biological function of PI3K signaling including phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate is well established in diverse biochemical processes including axon and dendrite morphogenesis, but the function of the closely related phosphatidylinositol-3,4,-bisphosphate (PI(3,4)P2) signaling, particularly in the nervous system, is largely unknown. Here, we provide the first report on the role of inositol polyphosphate 4-phosphatase II (INPP4B), a PI(3,4)P2 metabolizing 4-phosphatase in the regulation of callosal axon formation. Depleting INPP4B by in utero electroporation suppressed medially directed callosal axon formation. Moreover, depletion of INPP4B significantly attenuated formation of Satb2-positive pyramidal neurons and axon polarization in cortical neurons during cortical development. Taken together, these data suggest that INPP4B plays a role in the regulating callosal axon formation by controlling axon polarization and the Satb2-positive pyramidal neuron population. Dysregulation of INPP4B during cortical development may be implicated in the generation of partial AgCC.

      • Two-Way Donation Locking for Transaction Management in Database Systems

        Traditional syntax-oriented serializability notions ate considered to be not enough to handle in particular various types of transaction in terms of duration of execution. To deal with this situation, altruistic locking has attempted to reduce delay effect associated with lock release moment by use of the idea of donation. An improved form of altruism has also been deployed in extended altruistic locking in a way that scope of data to be early released is enlarged to include even data initially not intended to be donated. In this paper, we first of all investigated limitations inherent in both altruistic schemes from the perspective of alleviating starvation occasions for transactions in particular of short-lived nature. The idea of two-way donation locking(2DL) has then been experimented to see the effect of more than single donation in client-server database systems. Simulation experiments shows that 2DL outperforms the conventional two-phase locking in terms of the degree of concurrency and average transaction waiting time under the circumstances that the size of long-transaction is in between 5 and 9. 기존의 syntax 위주의 직력성 이론만 가지고서는 거래의 실행시간상 차별화 특성을 수용하면서 다수의 거래에 대한 단위시간당 처리 생산성을 높이기는 힘든 형편이다. 이러한 상황을 해결하기 위하여 이타적 잠금기법(altruistic locking :AL)은 거래가 객체를 사용한 다음 더 이상 그 객체를 요구하지 않을 때 다른 거래들이 그 객체를 로크할 수 있도록 미리 객체에 대한 로크를 해제함으로써 거래들의 대기시간을 줄이기 위한 취지에서 제안된 것이다. 확장형 이타적 잠금(extended altruistic locking :XAL)기법은 AL을 자취의 확장 측면에서 개선한 잠금기법으로서 AL이 근본적으로 안고 있는 반드시 기부된 객체만을 처리해야 한다는 부담을 보다 완화한 기법이다. 본 논문에서는 우선 장기거래로 인한 단기거래의 장기적 대기현상 완화 측면에서의 AL과 XAL의 공통적 한계점을 분석하였다. Client-server 환경하에서 장기거래로 인한 단기거래의 장기적 대기현상을 최소화하도록 줄임으로써 작업처리율을 높이는 반면, 거래간의 평균 대기시간을 줄일수 있는 새로운 확장형 이타적 잠금기법인 전후진방식의 신형 확장 기법인 2DL(two-way donation locking)을 제안하였다. 모의실험에 의한 성능평가 결과 장기거래의 길이가 5이상, 9이하인 상황에서 2DL은 2PL 보다 작업 처리율과 거래의 평균 대기시간 면에서 우수한 결과를 나타내었다.

      • Translocation of Annexin I to the Nucleus by Epidermal Growth Factor in A549 Cells

        Annexin I (also called lipocortin 1), a 37-kDa member of the annexin family of proteins, has been implicated in the mitogenic signal transduction by epidermal growth factor (EGF). Annexin I is phosphorylated by the EGF signal, however, the role of annexin I in the EGF signal transduction is still unknown. To transduce extracellular signals into the intracellular targets, selective translocation of the signaling molecules to their targets would be necessary. In this study, we examined the subcellular locations of annexin I during EGF signal transduction. Treatment of A549 cells with EGF resulted in the translocation of cytoplasmic annexin I to the nucleus and perinuclear region as determined by Western blot and immunofluorescent staining. The nuclear translocation of annexin I was inhibited by tyrphostin AG 1478 and genistein, the inhibitors of EGF receptor kinase and downstream tyrosine kineses, respectively. Pretreatment of cells with cyclohexamide did not inhibit the nuclear translocation. The results suggest that nuclear translocation of annexin I is controlled by a series of kinase dependent events in the EGF receptor signaling pathway and may be important in tranducing the signals by EGF.

        한우시장의 구조와 가격분석에 관한 연구 ( 강원지역을 중심으로 ) 제3보 소의 연령 , 체중과 가격에 관한 연구

        The cattle price in a cattle market is determined by several factors. The investigation was carried out from August, 1969 to September 30, 1969 to know how the cattle: price fluctuate according to its age and body weight. The results obtained from studying the Chuncheon cattle market were summarized as follows: 1. The cattle price per head was rapidly rising up according to its age from one to four (cow) or five (bull) years old. But the rising rate of cattle price was reducing as cattle grew old, especially, after cattle were 4 or 5 years old price was seldom changeable. Price per ㎏. of body weight was higher in younger and smaller cattle, so the price of one year old male calf was higher by 50% than the 9 years old cow and one year old female calf was higher by 62% than the 8 years old bull, but after the growing period ended price was kept at almost same level. Such phenomenon means that the price per head was rising up as cattle grow and increase their body weight, but on the other hand, the actual price per ㎏. of body weight was reducing. 2. The cattle price per head was rapidly rising up as the cattle`s body weight was increased; the bull`s price was generally higher than that of cow`s (99-11,000won). The price per ㎏. of body weight was rapidly going up higher in proportion as the body weight was smaller. So the price of 50-100㎏. body weight calf was higher by 5650 than that of 300-350㎏. cow, and the price of 50-100㎏. body weight bull was higher by 67% than that of the bull of 300-350㎏. body weight. In the cattle weighed beyond 300-350㎏., as the body weight increase, the cow tended to have more or less cheaper price, whereas the bull became higher. In the calf, an infant cattle weighing 150-200 ㎏. were expensive, and in the adult cattle, the class weighing above 400㎏. were traded at high price expensively. The reason why the price of cattle become higher for the less weighed or adult cattle is that they have additional value formed in consideration of their higher slaughtering ratio as their weight increases. In the Korean cattle, the profits of rearing and breeding diminished remarkably because they grew slowly. Therefore, if the calf price is low, the profit from rearing the Korean cattle diminishes for the same reason mentioned above.

      • 한국 산업의 질적 구조 변화 분석 - Input-Output MFA기법의 활용

          본고는 1995년과 2000년의 산업연관표를 이용하여 한국의 외환위기를 전후한 산업구조의 질적변화 과정을 분석한 것이다. 이를 위해 투입산출 MFA(Minimum Flow Analysis) 기법을 활용하였다. 분석 결과, 산업연관관계를 보면, 외환위기를 전후하여 산업의 기본 구조에는 큰 변화가 없으나, 부동산, 사업서비스, 건설 등과 금융부문의 연관관계가 강화되고 있다. 이는 이들 산업을 통한 금융부문의 변화 가능성이 그만큼 커진 것을 의미한다.   This paper is intended to analysis the process to change qualify structure of Korean industries during the Korean foreign exchange crisis using the input output table, 2000 and 1995.<BR>  According to our analysis, although the basic structure of industries has not changed, the industrial linkage are strengthened in the estate, business services, construction and financing sectors. This means that the possibility of change in the financing sector through the industrial linkage.
