Does Job Resources Affect Individual Performance?

Vol.29 No.1

The Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) model stated that job demands and job resources constitute two processes: the health impairment process, leading to negative outcomes, and the motivational process, leading to positive outcomes. This study extended the JD-R model by including counterproductive work behavior (CWB) as dependent variable and work-family conflict (WFC) as moderator. A total of 110 questionnaires were given to employees who work in Indonesia companies. On this study job demands were found have no direct relationship with CWB, as when WFC acted as a moderator due to job demands have relationship with CWB through other variables found in other studies. Meanwhile job resources were found have a negative correlation with CWB, as when WFC acted as a moderator, which means job resources did motivate employee to engage in a more positive behavior and with a high WFC employee tend to engage in more negative behavior.

The right strategy and strong effort should be performed for a successful result. Theranostics nuclear medicine will play a more prominent role in the management of cancer patients.

      • Slide Session : OS-END-27 ; Endocrinology : Ultrasonography-Guided Core Needle Biopsy is More Useful Than Repeat Fine Needle Aspiration for Thyroid Nodule with Inconclusive Result

Vol.2014 No.1

Background: The use of Core Needle Biopsy (CNB) as complementary test to diagnose thyroid nodules has been minimally reported and is currently being investigated. The aims of this study to investigate the utility and patient comfort of Ultrasonography- Guided CNB for thyroid nodules based on Bethesda System. Methods: Sixty-five patients of thyroid nodule with inconclusive and follicular neoplasm data reported by fine-needle aspiration (FNA), divided to 32 patients undergone CNB with a 18-gauge, 7.5 cm, 1.1 and 1.6 cm specimen cutter TSK Acecut Automatic Biopsy Gun and 33 patients who refusing CNB were tested repeat FNA with a 23-gauge needle.. We used Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Questioner to investigate patient comfort. Results: From the follow-up, the overall rate of malignancy was of 78.5 % (CNB 84.3 %; FNA 72.7 %), with the diagnosis accuracy of CNB was significantly (P < 0.05) higher than that of FNA. Mild Pain was reported in 87.5 % of CNB patient; 84.8 % of FNA patients. Local pain after biopsy was reported in 30.3 % of FNA and 50 % of CNB patients. Conclusions: This study has supported the assumption that CNB more useful than repeat FNA in thyroid nodules with inconclusive results, improving the diagnostic performance for malignancy, safely and comfort procedure.

Application of Image Processing to Micro-milling Process for Surface Texturing

2013 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.14 No.9

Micro-milling is a well-known process for the micro-fabrication of miniature parts. Miniature parts are often used in the medical and biology fields. In these fields, surface texture plays an important role in enhancing tactile qualities, aesthetics, and functionality. Most of the surface textures in medical or biology applications are very complex and difficult to design on computer-aided design (CAD)software. In this study, we develop a rapid process to acquire complex texture data by using an image processing technique. A complex surface texture representing human skin is transferred to a metal surface. Several image processing step are used and pixel intensity based height mapping for a two-dimensional (2-D) image to a three-dimensional (3-D) surface is described. The surface texture is fabricated on aluminium using a micro-milling process. We describe a process in which polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is micromolded to the fabricated surface texture to produce an artificial skin

Heterogeneity Analysis of 18F-FDG Uptake in Differentiating Between Metastatic and Inflammatory Lymph Nodes in Adenocarcinoma of the Lung: Comparison with Other Parameters and its Application in a Clinical Setting

Vol.47 No.4

Purpose Lymph node (LN) characterization is crucial in determining the stage and treatment decisions in patient with lung cancer. Although 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT)has a higher diagnostic accuracy in LN characterization than anatomical imaging, differentiating between metastatic and inflammatory LNs is still challenging because both could show high 18F-FDG uptake. The purpose of this study was to assess if the heterogeneity of the 18F-FDG uptake could help in differentiating between inflammatory and metastatic LNs in lung cancer, and to compare with other parameters. Methods A total of 44 patients with adenocarcinoma of the lung, who underwent preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT without having any previous treatments and were revealed to have 18FFDG-avid LNs, were enrolled. There were 52 pathologyproven metastatic lymph nodes in 26 subjects. The pathologyproven metastatic LNs were compared with 42 pathologyproven inflammatory/benign LNs in 18 subjects. The coefficient of variation (CV) was used to assess the heterogeneity of 18F-FDG uptake by dividing the standard deviation of standardized uptake value (SUV) by mean SUV. The volume of interest was manually drawn based on the combined CT images of 18FFDG PET/CT (no threshold is used). Comparisons were made with the maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax),visual assessment of 18F-FDG uptake, longest diameter, and maximum Hounsfield units (HUmax). Results Metastatic lymph nodes tended to have higher CVs than the inflammatory LNs. The mean CVof metastatic LNs (0.30±0.08; range: 0.08–0.55) was higher than that of inflammatory LNs (0.17+0.06; range, 0.07–0.32; P<0.0001). On receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, the area under curve was 0.901, and using 0.20 as cut-off value, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy were 88.5 %,76.2 %, 82.2 %, 84.3, and 83.0 % respectively. Accuracy of CV was slightly higher than SUVmax and diameter, but significantly higher than visual assessment and HUmax. Conclusions In patients with adenocarcinoma of the lung having no prior treatments, metastatic LNs showed more heterogeneous 18F-FDG uptake than inflammatory LNs.Measuring the CVof the SUV derived from a manual volume of interest (VOI) can be helpful in determining metastatic LN of adenocarcinoma of the lung. Including diagnostic criteria of CV into the diagnostic approach can increase the accuracy of mediastinal node status.

Three geometric constants for Morrey spaces

        Hendra Gunawan,Eder Kikianty,Yoshihiro Sawano,Christopher Schwanke 대한수학회 2019 대한수학회보 Vol.56 No.6

In this paper we calculate three geometric constants, namely the von Neumann-Jordan constant, the James constant, and the Dunkl-Williams constant, for Morrey spaces and discrete Morrey spaces. These constants measure uniformly nonsquareness of the associated spaces. We obtain that the three constants are the same as those for $L^1$ and $L^\infty$ spaces.

Development of 2-axis hybrid positioning system for precision contouring on micro-milling operation

2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.2

A 2-axis hybrid positioning system was developed for precision contouring on micro-milling operation. The system was developed toovercome the micro-positioning limitations of conventional linear stage positioning system on machine tools. A 2-axis flexure hinge typepiezoelectric stage was added on a standard milling machine to obtain better machining results. The control method used for the hybridsystem was active error compensation type, where errors from linear stages are cancelled by the piezoelectric stage motion. Positioningexperiments showed an improvement of machine accuracy which was confirmed by the machining results. A micro-pillar was fabricatedfor the validation of long-range and high-precision contouring capability. The system was successfully implemented on micro-millingmachining to achieve high-precision machining results

      • Safe Flight Envelope Estimation for Rotorcraft: A Reachability Approach

Vol.2018 No.10

This paper considers the application of a reachability approach to estimating a safe flight envelope for rotorcraft. The flight envelope estimation problem is solved backward in time as it is formulated as an optimal control problem that involves finding a viscosity solution to the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs equation with a terminal condition. The viscosity solution and its zero sub-level set computed based on the level set method is used to estimate the safe flight envelope in terms of a backward reachable set. This approach is demonstrated via an example of determining the backward reachable set for a helicopter flying forward in the longitudinal plane.

This study aims to determine the factors influencing the community behavior in improving competitive rural tourism as well as understanding the role of economic literacy in mediating socio-economic indicators and rural competitive advantage. This research followed an explanatory research to examine the relationship between variables including socio-economic variables and rural tourism competitive advantage. The data was gathered by conducting observations and interviews with tourism businesses, stakeholders, and the local village government, and related agencies as respondents. Furthermore, the data were analyzed following inductive and descriptive statistics. The findings indicated that, from all variables used, solely the environmental impact variable did not affect economic literacy and the competitive advantage of rural tourism. The moderating variables showed that the economic literacy mediates the economic impact on rural tourism competitive advantage. In addition, socio-cultural impacts on rural competitive advantage tourism, and the stakeholder involvement affects rural competitive advantage tourism. However, economic literacy failed in mediating between environmental impacts on rural competitive advantage tourism. This is due to the increasing understanding of the economy of the community around the tourist attractions it will increase the business around the tourist attractions that have an impact on environmental damage around the tourist attractions.
